Big Sam keeps faith with Steve Harper in goal, while Steven Taylor also keeps his place at right -back. Both new signings Habib Beye and Abdoulaye Faye are named as substitutes and youngsters James Milner and Charles N’Zogbia will be making their 50th Premiership start for the club.

We haven’t created anything. Sadly our midfield still lacks creativity and offensive attitude. I don’t like it either, that Derby have been allowed to run the ball up the sides several times. Hope we can bag a goal before halftime, or else Big Sam has to give them a real talking to, and possibly a substitution.

absolutely no control in midfield, the goal we conceded is from a missed header by geremi. butt was overwhelmed by Derby players, smith is nowhere to be seen, defenders has nobody to pass the ball to, strikers have no supply….the quality of play is horrifying….a complete championship side…
if we don’t bring in some steel and flair in midfield, this season is going to be forgetable AGAIN…

I know BSA likes to play the small man/big man combo, but if Owen or Martins arent able to play with another small man then someone needs to tell them that they shouldnt be earning obscene amounts of money every week!!
I think the midfield have been tosh again, with only Milner looking good…again! We are sooooo desperate to get Barton in the team you wouldnt believe it.
We need to start playing better in midfield this second half. Martins on for Shameobi, Beye on for Taylor and then we need to play more balls on the ground to the front two who are fast enough to chase them.
We better sodding score against this rabble, because if some glaswegian pikey ends up getting the winner I wont be happy!!!

Unbelievable. Ameobi = Garbage. Owen = absolutely NO service. Full midfield line = Garbage. Defense = the ONLY reason we’re not down 4-0 by now. The goal was a beauty off the foot - but the build up was poor poor poor by us. This is exactly what I predicted - a bunch of inflated egos underperforming - like always with the Magpies!!!

Why is AMeobi on the pitch; BS was so scared either Owens or Martins would heva left because of the clause in their contracts and now Martins sits on the bench for Ameobi the robot. He can’t move properly, doens’t win a header without making a fault and if he shots to the goal he just can’t get the pace on the ball. WHAT A JOKE THIS IS, I don’t understand this at all!!!
Then Beye a fantastic right back who comes up front, just on the bench for Taylor who is probably not clear in his head with all the stories around him. And then he has to play in a position which he hasn’t played in years, just ridiculous.
- Butt is sleepy
- Owen doens’t touch the leather just because Ameobi doens’t deliver the ball to him.
- N’Zogbia is unlucky so far.
- Millner; not good (IMO not the first time but okay …)
- Cacapa; class defender, did nothing wrong so far.
- Rozehnal; class defender who missed a defenite goal (normally it would have been 0-1).
- Smith; running without touching the ball, also missed a chance.
- Harper did not have a chance with the Miller strike.
- Germis is the best player so far IMO; tries to use the wings, but only the passing tempo is too slow.
SUBS:
1. AMEOBI off for the rest of the season and OBA in.
2. Taylor off - Beye in
3. wait for another 15 minutes adn then well see.

I believe in the big man/small man thing (in theory) but it only works when the big man CAN PLAY THE GAME. Ameobi can’t keep control - can’t shoot - can’t defend. The only thing he’s good for is the accidental ball-off-the-head from the occasional corner kick. You might as well have a blindfolded llama out there on the pitch. (sorry shola. Aye Kevin agree with you on that. However my point (albeit presented in a very frustrated mood) is that it shouldn’t be a friggin’ requirement/obsession to play big man/small man. Against a “weaker” team we should surely be able to play with a “small” pair of strikers.

What an awful game of football. All credits to Derby, they won it, but it is our own fault. There are some things which I just don’t understand in the selection BSA has made;
1. Ameobi starts and Martins sits on the bench for him
2. Taylor who is IMO not clear in his heas at this moment to play is on the pitch for 72 minustes and has done nothing
3. Geremi IMO tried to launch the attacks by playing via the wings has to go off for a more defensive Faye
4. Butt and Smith never were into the game
5. Smith gets the captaincy when Germi went off, ridiculous; Cacapa would have got it. By miles the best player on the pitch tonight.
6. 90th minute and look who still fools around on the Derby football pitch; IT’S SHOLA MISERABLE AMEOBI
7. How many times did we run out of the pitch with the ball our gave a pass that crossed the sideline (Zog did it 10 times I think) at our feet; like children who don’t know that crossing the line isn’t allowed.
8. We are lucky that it only stayed 1-0 against, let’s be honnest, a weak team (with lots of battle intensions, so all credits to them).
9. Harper can not be blamed for the goal.
At the end it’s only 1 game and now hopefully the squad (and also the fans, including me) return with their feet to the ground because the last week everything was so positive and all, but tonight showed us that we still have lots of work to do to break into the top of the EPL.

Andreas- point taken. Thanks for putting “weaker” in parantheses. This match proves that no team in the Premiership can be taken for granted. That’s why it’s called THE PREMIERSHIP, you big-headed pretty boys. That’s what we looked like today, fellas. This is not the kind of side that I will support as a Toon.
Let me say, however, that none of the blame should be put on Sam Allardyce for this loss. His tactics may have gone for nowt tonight but it was the players who looked as though they had better things to do. THAT is what infuriates me. There are to be no excuses.
