Newcastle United are reported to be after a couple of youngsters they hope to sign in January, and are trying to get at least one of the deals done now. The first youngster is Real Madrid’s 20 year-old left back Krzysztof Krol.
Krol was in the Poland squad at the Under-20 World Cup in Canada this summer, and he has already told Polish newspaper Dziennik that he has received offers from Newcastle and Serie-A side Atalanta.

Krzysztof Krol - Polish Under-20 star signed by Real Madrid in January
Krol said:
“At Real it is not easy to break through. Coach Schuster has Gabriel Heinze and Brazilian Marcelo who both play my position.â€
“When a club buys a player for several million euros it is normal that this player will play and not a player from the reserve team. Luckily, I have some offers and the latest have come from Newcastle and Atalanta.”
“The Premiership is the best league in the world. In Spain the players are toying with the ball too much. Moreover, I would be a member of the first team at Newcastle.”
So should our current 21 year-old current left back Julio Enrique watch out? - maybe. But there’s certainly nothing wrong with Newcastle getting great young talent into the club and then developing them – and we know Big Sam can do that. Krol looks a great prospect and was outstanding during this year’s FIFA Under-20 World Cup held in Canada
Krol was born on February 6, 1987 in RyduÅ‚towy, Poland and was bought by Real Madrid i=n January of this year from Dyskobolia Grodzisk Wielkopolski. His surname, pronounced “Krul” means “King” in Polish. Feyenoord are a third club also said to be interested in the impressive young full-back.
The second player Newcastle are after is Danish Under-16 and AFG goalkeeper Esben Hojmark, who they have invited to Tyneside for a week-long trial. AGF sporting director Brian Steen told the Danish club’s official website:
“Newcastle’s invitation shows that AFG’s talent development is working well.â€
“We have accepted their offer as this will be a great experience for Esben who will get to know a whole new football culture and meet other players of his age.”
With the news that Newcastle have already signed French club Le Havre’s 18 year-old striker Wesley Ngo Baheng, it certainly seems that Chairman Mort’s policy of signing world class youngsters is speeding up and being put into action - quickly. This is excellent policy by Newcastle.
Comments very welcome.

sooo , whats wrong with the bull? not sure why we need two left backs of roughly the same age
2 Mike // Oct 13, 2007 at 13:21
We need two leftbacks because we need cover there. Without enrique at the start of the season we missed zog in midfield. With a bit of luck we’ll be playing a lot more football over the next few seasons and just enrique won’t be enough (i think t’s fair to be ignoring babayaro!). Besides, some serious competition for both enrique and another up and coming left back will only aid their development.

Yeah, that was my first thought too, maybe Krul can play at right back . It would certainly make more sense that way.

Umm guys the reason we need two left backs is we currently have only one. What you think Babayaro has something to pass on to Jose as an old head? I think it’s a great idea and will allow us to have strength in a position recently quite weak and give zoggy the peace of mind to know he is not going a the back. NUFC has got to get over this young is not good policy. Would you take two micha richards? I would.

I think it’s great getting deals done now for January…
Come January all the incoming players will be sorted, just need shot of the hangers on. Lovely jubbly.
Anybody else having problems with their browser?

Hadrian, you need competition for every position, players get injured and babayaro is pure sh*t. Also if you good enough your old enough
7 gordon // Oct 13, 2007 at 14:17
i think its obvious babyaro will be shown the door after all.

looking forward to get…young talented midfielders. An new Messi..that would have been really nic:D

Im sure he will be better thank Babayaro. This is good news as it means enrique will have to play at the top of his game everyweek so that someone doesnt take his place. Cause at the moment he has no one to worry about once nzogbia is pushed up to midfeild.
Good to see we are looking at youngsters. What about NASRI
11 PK-Norway // Oct 13, 2007 at 15:09
Nasri…is awful..but maybe he will go to abett club..if not Beye talks with him:P—he would be good to have..i also watched a right winger from Argentinas u-20 side..Moralez or so..he was good too,and USA u-20 have many good players,…we should bring them in…

Bring ‘em in. We currently have only one LB and a midfielder for cover which is spreading it a bit thin. This can only bring out the best in Jo “The Bull”. And if Krol matches that, then lovely stuff!! Now how ’bout ‘em midfielders …

its the age of the pair that concerns , id always prefer a experienced 25+ player in the first team with a young un gearing up to step in behind him .
zoggy and milner have only started as much due to lack of cover , their fate is the same as taylors , time to come good without so much pressure .

i jst want newcastle to bring in some great youngsters you agree?
15 Bill F // Oct 13, 2007 at 18:58
Hammy I just asked the same question on a later blog. Icidently I see Le Havre have a good young goalie on loan to a leading french club. Perhaps Sam should get them as some sort of nursery/feeder club.

Imo Nazri is a real quality player and would be an excellent buy. I bet he ends up at Real Madrid or somewhere similar.
17 Dragoner // Oct 13, 2007 at 22:52
Nasri is a great youngster, how the hell can someone say he is awful!?!? anyway we will not be attracting the likes of him just yet
18 ssdd // Oct 14, 2007 at 4:25
how about Ben Arfa from Lyon?
already in French squad
and may more expensive
19 Craig Allen // Oct 14, 2007 at 7:41
There are other countries besides France, hey? Hope the net is being cast wider than France. More scouts in more countries mean more options. Let’s hope we don’t become fixated with the French and miss out on bringing in young star Africans, Asians, South Americans etc
20 Tom_Toon // Oct 14, 2007 at 10:34
Any ideas for a winger, we need an experienced one than can cross very well. Jerome Rothen please.
