With Newcastle giving something like 14 players away on international duty there is a continual watch going on to ensure that each of the players comes through their games uninjured.
Many Newcastle players have participated so far and as far as we know nobody from the club has been injured.
As we reported earlier Martins was on form for Nigeria in Mexico yesterday being a constant menace to the Mexican defense and he scored 2 good goals.
Oba Martins - on form for Nigeria in Mexico yesterday - scoring 2 goals
Alan Smith was not included in Steve McClaren’s substitutes on Saturday in England’s easy win against Estonia, but apparently has a slight knee injury and could be involved against Russia on Wednesday.
Shay Given played the full 90 minutes for Ireland in their 0-0 draw with Germany in Dublin and Emre completed the full game for Turkey as they were surprisingly held to a 1-1 draw in Moldova. Zog played the full game at left back for the France Under-21 win against Bosnia Herze 4-0. There are major internationals again on Wednesday. Here is the participation of the Newcastle players so far.

As I said earlier thank you to whatever (whichever?) deity watches over our players. Incidently is there a patron Saint for our lads. We play at St James Park, personally I would prefer someone like Odin who I believe is a great striker.

Cos he was a very naughty boy and was not home by 8 oclock or something.
