Damien Duff is due to start trainings again in a couple of weeks but it will still take Damien almost 6 weeks to get back fit enough to be available for selection in Newcastle’s team.
Newcastle boss Sam Allardyce has revealed that the Irish winger is on track for a first-team return in around six weeks, which will be early December.

Damien Duff - set to return from foot injury in December
Sam told the Sunday Sun today:
“Damien is training on a daily basis. He’s kicking and moving the ball around in one to one situations,†“That will hopefully progress soon to him taking in some training with players.
“My opinion would be that we could hopefully get him involved in the massive December that we are facing.â€
“If we can do that we’ll have swum the Channel because at that particular time, every player will hopefully stay fit and be available for selection.
“We’ll need them.â€
Newcastle are scheduled to play seven games in December – and 8 games in 33 days with the final game being at home against Manchester City on 2nd January next year. The fixture pile up has certainly angered Allardyce.
Sam continued:
“He will hopefully progress soon to taking in some training with the players,â€
“We will say to the players to be careful with him and not to get involved in tackles with him – just let him get a feel of joining in with the lads again, because that will be a massive boost for him having trained on his own for so long.â€
“Then we’ll start with some training games and hopefully some reserve matches.â€
It will be great to see Damien back playing for Newcastle again. While Duff has not played to his potential since he’s been at Newcastle, we think Sam can and will get the very best out of the Irishman.
Certainly Damien hasn’t lacked the effort on the field and with a bit of encouragement from Big Sam, we think he’ll do just fine and start to show his great talent. And there’s no better time than in December, when we’ll need to utilize the whole squad to get though all the games.
Comments welcome.

It would be great if will be available in December cause we will most certainly need him. It will be a dangerous time and i hope we can get some good results.

A good player dosnt get bad overnight for no reason… He surely didnt settle in his first season and we have still to see the great player that helped chelsea to 2 titles, but im sure he will show for us sooner or later and what a team we will have then.

Tell you what it’s very close to the transfer window, He might need to show something by then.
You’r not wrong Valle but there are an awful lot of very good players who just never reproduced their best form after injury or a move elsewhere. Mourhina is no idiot I couldn’t see him releasing someone he expected to do the biz.

duff showed world class form at chelsea , and i agree nobody just loses that .
once sam gets him fit and tells him exactly what he want from him on the pitch i can see him setting out left wing alight .

haha
i remember where i was when duff signed, i was sitting on the beach in mexico, someone saw me in ma toon top and told me we had just signed him…
i remember just jumping to my feet and running- fully clothed into the sea in joy.
then when mike ashley bought the club i was in jamaica, i didnt jump into the sea this time, just ran to the hotel and went on the tinternet to find out who he was.
these sort of things happen very often, i think i should go on holiday more often
remember everyone form is temporary class is permanent

Leo if good things happen for the Toon when you are on the beach perhaps you could get Sam to fund you. I believe Whitley Bay is nice at this time of year or for somewhere more exotic South Shields

Duff looks to me like one of those trophy signings who are just topping up their pension plan. Basically a 50,000 a week reserve. Interesting to see how he responds to the competition for places.

Last time he came he was an automatic choice despite Zogbia’s good form because he was a big name signing and you dont make those unless your going to use them. I cant see Sam making the same mistake as Roeder. He’s playing everyone by the same standard making everyone work out their kinks before coming back to play. The players we have available know are certainly throwing up a few questions. We have a great midfield with two players in every position and all we really need is for Sam to keep them happy
