Big Sam seems confident Newcastle can bag all 3 points against Portsmouth on Saturday, by using their best weapon at St. James’ Park – and that is by attacking the opposition.
Sam knows that anything but a win will see Newcastle sink in the league and we’re sure the big man would love to be in the top 6 or thereabouts, once the January transfer window arrives.
It will not be easy but we’ve made a fairly good start, considering all our new players, even allowing for some terrible away form. If we can pull ourselves together, we can still have a good season and qualify for Europe, hopefully.

Sam Allardyce - will attack Portsmouth on Saturday, and expects to win
Newcastle United’s 52-year-old manager told Newcastle World TV this afternoon:
“We need to continue where we left off against Everton and Spurs because we’ve been free-scoring at home recently,” “We must focus on what we are good at home and that is attacking.†“Saying that, you look at the defensive unit at home and it’s been good.â€
“We are trying to find that clean sheet, but we are not going to detract from our attacking flow that we have at St.James’ Park.â€
“Our home form has been excellent and we’re confident that can continue against Portsmouth.”
We’re sure a lot of fans would also like to see us attacking away from home, at least against the weaker teams like Reading. Attack is often the best form of defense and especially if the team is weak in defense. In those cases we should be attacking that weakness. But Sam has a different philosophy away from home, and we suspect if we were a little more brace away from home it will pay off.
However, the next goal on the agenda is all 3 points against Portsmouth. That’s all we are thinking of right now, and we have a very good chance of achieving just that.
Comments welcome.

It’d be nice if we won but I expect a draw. 2-2

I too wouldn’t be shocked if we draw… but if Sam starts with Smith, Milner & N’Zog all on the pitch, I reckon a win is on the cards.

although i suspect that geremi will be in there somewhere

I think Sam should drop Geremi, I’d like to see Barton, Butt, Milner and Zog in midfield. I think that would work

Agree lose Geremi, if he insists on sticking with him it will worry me that he is another like Roeder who is going to play his favourites rather than the better player. Not seen the best of Barton but Emre is pretty weak so I would have to agree with you…
Even Butt is a little hit and miss I wouldn’t mind throwing Faye into Midfield in his place for his size and power and let Barton play next to him which lets Rozy back into the defence and lets Taylor get 15 at the end.

WE NEED TO GO AT THEM ALL GUNS BLAZING……..ALA FIRST HALF AGAINST BOLTON………AND BE A COUPLE UP WITHIN THE FIRST HALF HOUR. IF WE PLAY TAPPY LAPPY SIDEWAYS FOOTBALL WE’LL GET BEAT.PORTSMOUTH HAVE SOME USEFUL PLAYERS AND THOUGH REDKNAPP LOOKS LIKE HE’S BEEN SLEEPING ROUGH IN A CARDBOARD BOX HE’S A PRETTY DECENT MANAGER.
I’LL GO FOR 2-0 WITH OWEN AND OBA UP FRONT.
Apologies for poor keyboard ettiquette chaps….

Good to hear Michael Owen saying he is happy at NUFC .Class Player but needs proper service to score the goals He cant do it all by himself so hopefully BSA will need to make sure team tactics get the best out of him and OBA .
I dont know what else the poor bloke can say to get all this so called speculation re his moving away from the club to die its death and let him and the team get on with the job of getting into Europe for next season . Thats what we want isnt it and we should be right behind him 100%

I agree Callum . It has to be a case of everyone including the Captain fighting for their place . It has to be 4 4 2 with Milner and the zog out wide Pos start with Smith in the Viduka role with either MO or OM Faye as holding midfielder with Barton directing traffic

Here’s my selection:
Given
Beye Rozehnal Cacapa Enrique
Geremi Barton Faye N’Zogbia
Owen Smith
subs: Harper, Butt, Martins, Emre, Milner
Faye is needed to combat Diop in CM, and expect Martins, Milner plus one other to come on in second half. Hoping Taylor makes the subs bench in place of either Butt or Emre……
