Gillingham manager Mark Stimson has confirmed the club have recently received an offer for their 15 year-old striker Luke Freeman.

Luke made his first-team debut for the club earlier this season, and he is being tracked by a string of Premier League clubs, including Newcastle United.

He has already visited Arsenal, Newcastle United and West Ham United, and has now been the subject of an offer. We believe that Luke’s choice would be Arsenal but it’s unclear which of the interested clubs have tabled the offer.

Mark Stimson told the club’s official web-site today:

“One top Premier League club is talking to the chairman about Luke Freeman,” Stimson told the club’s official website.

“There has been a bid come in, but it is not quite what we are looking for and I think there may be some more negotiations to go on there.”

Previously the Gillingham manager had spoken about Luke having days spent days training at the various clubs interested in him:

“Luke Freeman has had a fantastic day at Newcastle United and a fantastic day at Arsenal.”“He is going to West Ham United for a day to have a look around there. He will then make a decision.”

As we said earlier, we believe he would prefer Arsenal as his club of choice. But we’ll keep watching this one, to see where the young striker finally ends up.

Comments welcome.

I just hope I am still around in ten years time to see these “prospects”. On the other hand I would prefer to see the class players coming in now so that I can see some success now.
