We know we have had some problems on our site these last couple of days, especially since the news hit yesterday about Sam Allardyce’s dismissal from the club. We’ve actually seen significantly increased loads on our site since the beginning of January.

We have already taken action to lessen the load on the site, and we will be upgrading as soon as possible (today hopefully), to an upgraded set of CPU servers, where we’ll have more than double the CPU time allocated to the site. This should solve the problems we’ve been having.
We apologize for any inconvenience to our readers.

This Account Has Exceeded Its CPU Quota
Please contact this site’s webmaster.
Wait a few minutes and use your browser’s “Back” button or click here to try again.
If you are the webmaster, your account may have gotten this error for one or more of the following reasons:
* Your account has used more than its share of the cpu in the past 60 second sliding window.
* Your account has too many concurrent processes running simultanously.
* Your account has consumed too much memory.
* Your site was recently very busy trying to run inefficient scripts.
The solution would be to optimize your applications to use less CPU.
Adding appropriate indeces to your SQL tables can often help reduce CPU.
Using static .html documents instead of painful .php scripts will practically eliminate CPU usage.
…has been a royal pain in the a** lately. Looking forward to not expirience that again.
Keep up the good work Ed!

every site goes down now and again.
juts hope you dont get ripped of ed on the back of some short term problems.
i know plenty of people who change there servers and are constantly getting ripped off.

as an australian toon fan, and after witnessing what he achieved with us (among others) in the world cup i’d have to agree with toon al that guus would be spot on, but doubt he’d be tempted with our lot?

Just thinking ED - the banner at the top of the site with Big Sam bang smack in the middle may need to be changed??

Hadaway Ed! Thanks. The CPU thing was a bit frustrating (not that I need to tell you that). Congrats on this site’s readership, it speaks volumes.

maybe you should remove Barton as well from the banner- or at least include a bowl of porridge for the lad!
16 Chris_Toon // Jan 10, 2008 at 18:16

Andreas - it’s been a pain to me too - lost a few articles I was trying to get up there.
Hopefully it will be OK again very very soon.

Yes - it looks like our banner needs updating - Sam and maybe Barton to go - but think we’ll wait - it looks like new players will be arriving in January if Mike can being someone in quickly enough.
