Here are the latest odds on who is being backed with real money to become the next Newcastle manager. This is from William Hill’s and is the latest betting taken right from their web page.

Mike Ashley - we think he will make choice within 48 hours
Here’s the latest betting on the Newcastle manager:

Kevin Keegan 6/4
In the last 24 hours Kevin Keegan has come on strong after saying he would neither rule himself out or rule himself in. But he hasn’t turned down the opportunity flat, which is good for most Geordie fans. He has now been installed as the favorite overtaking Mark Hughes.

Mark Hughes 5/2
Wouldn’t be a popular or exciting choice for Newcastle fans, but he’s looked a solid and good manager at Blackburn and Wales, and will only get better with more experience.

Alan Shearer 4/1
Apparently Chris Mort called Alan on his vacation in Barbados last Thursday just to let him know the situation and he said they weren’t thinking of Alan at this time. However, he may be willing to link up with King Kev initially at St. James’ Park so he learn the ropes a little – say for a couple of years. Would Bobby Robson be able to act as Shearer’s mentor if Alan took the job himself?

Gerard Houllier 7/1
We think Gerard is definitely the dark horse. He has a good record at both Liverpool and Lyon, and he could do a job at Newcastle. Watch out for Gerrard because he could come through and be the surprise choice. We think he would be a good choice at this time.
Steve Bruce and Martin Jol are joint in 5th place at 10-1. Harry Redknapp is next at 12-1 and Jose Mouinho has been cut to 16-1 in 8th place.
Mike Ashley returns from the Pacific Rim tomorrow and he could be able to arrive back in Newcastle late tomorrow morning. There would be plenty of time to meet with whomever is his choice for new manager. So we’re sure the press will be trying to find out where the candidates are situated tomorrow.
We expect a new manager between now and the start of the game against Stoke City on Wednesday evening. That’s the latest we have on the manger front, with definite movement by Kevin Keegan.

I know I keep harping on about it- but why isn’t Van Gaal mentioned anywhere.
Houiller?
Only if he brings Juninho with him.
2 Dag // Jan 14, 2008 at 18:09
I have to say the most interessting choice after Mourinho is a Keegan as manager and Shearer ass. manager or the opposite way around.
The story about Mourinho getting out of a clause at Chelsea seems rather unlikely. Allthough I’m sure most of us prey every night it’s true. But in Norway there has been specualtion about Mourinho is beeing lined up as a replacement for Benitez…
I do think Mort and Ashley is keeping an eye on the Liverpool situation.
Should things heat up I’m sure Benitez will get the sack, and I’ wouldn’t be to sad to see him in managers seat either….
3 Tom_Toon // Jan 14, 2008 at 18:10
van Gaal or Deschamps for me.
4 Frankieboy // Jan 14, 2008 at 18:11
Had gut feeling all along about Houllier so much so I got my brother- in -law to put £5 on for me and beleive me I do not gamble as a rule
He could be an excellent mentor for Shearer and this would also give continuity for years to come something we have lacked for years.
I also think Shearer would be happy to learn the ropes of someone of Houlliers experience and standing in the game and lets not forget he has Premiership experience and with some success.
5 b3v // Jan 14, 2008 at 18:11
I honestly don’t think kk, alan or mark hughes will be manager, I think houllier would be an ok choice, but I think it will be better than all 4
6 ToonNorway // Jan 14, 2008 at 18:12
Couldn’t agree more. Why the hell isn’t anyone talking to/about Van Gaal? He would be a glorious appointment. And he has never been polluted by the red shirt of Liverpool or Manure
Van Gaal for president, with Big Al as learners boy. Like Mourinho under Robson…
Drible drible goo goo….:)

I cannot see Van Gaal anywhere in the Hill list - will put link to Hill’s latest betting odds on Newcastle manager into article.
8 GraemeR // Jan 14, 2008 at 18:15
Its so right - but for all the wrong reasons -bring him on - with Shearer as No 2.
Theres no manager in the EPL who would light up SJP as much as this dream team (perhaps with the exception of Wenger).
Ashley seems keen to have a UK manager, so that unfortunately rules out the likes of Hitzfeld, Van Gaal, Lippo (and Zippo).
I think (hope) it will be resolved by tomorrow, in time for the replay and if it is KK/AS then god help Stoke - the crowd alone will get us 5-0 up by half time.
I just hope the dream doesnt turn into a nightmaere - but what the heck - it’ll be worth it just to get back to attractive, attacking football

Where has the English manager business come from?
Surely Ashley can see that there are none available who have the necessary skills/experience.
We’ll be entertaining the likes of Ince and Wise next! God help us.
I don’t think I’m being unrealistic- there isn’t a hope in hell of Mourinho joining the mad ship Newcastle.

I heard that chris and mike were searching overseas too, that british manager rubbish was cleared up on the first night, its just the media keep pushing it coz they don’t want us to have better.

18 Sloop Jon B // Jan 14, 2008 at 18:22
Van Gaal’s position is a little shaky at AZ apparently- having lost 9 of 24 games this season. Hasn’t met with fans expectations or something.
He’s the man!
19 Kash2 // Jan 14, 2008 at 18:23
I think Houillier would bring a massive scouting base with him. Him and wenger are pretty much the young player scouting kings. Liverpools current scouting system is because of his work! I’d take him just for that!
20 Frankieboy // Jan 14, 2008 at 18:23
If we could get Van Gaal given the contract he would be on with the massive financial package do you think we would get to see him actually SMILE !!
Would be a popular choice as manager and has worked with Sir Bobby at Barca so who knows

‘AZ have failed to live up to expectations this season, losing nine of their 24 competitive matches. But none of their previous defeats was nearly as heavy as Sunday’s 6-1 embarrassment at the hands of Ajax.’
Sound familiar?
24 lee // Jan 14, 2008 at 18:29
y isnt van gaal mentioned show ur support 2wards van gaal
25 Tim Krul // Jan 14, 2008 at 18:29
but seriously… Louis Van Gaal all the way.
Van Gaal interview:
People talk about the ‘Van Gaal system’. How would you describe this?
It’s a footballing philosophy more than a system. A system depends on the players you have. I played 4-3-3 with Ajax, 2-3-2-3 with Barcelona and I can play 4-4-2 with AZ. I’m flexible. The philosophy stays the same though.
Players count for nothing, the team is everything. I set more store by a player’s character than by his on-field qualities, and particularly whether he is willing to give everything to the cause. There are some incredibly talented players who haven’t got the character or the personality to suit my methods. Litmanen, for example, was a different player at Barca than he was at Ajax. You have to adapt to a new culture when you move to a different club, and not every player is able to do that.
Sounds a hell of a lot more knowledgeable than some of our past managers and just by looking at the uefa cup games against alkmaar last season you can tell he likes his teams to play good football. we played our best football for years against them in the first half of the first leg but they continued to play it short from the back. not a long ball in sight. as for the second leg, he outwitted Roeder and his tactics were spot on.
Give me football, give me Van Gaal!!
26 Tom_Toon // Jan 14, 2008 at 18:30
Its a sign, we and they both get 6 put past us.
Last season he almost won te league for christs sake, that was an immense feat, espcially with the players he had there then.

28 knoxy the mag // Jan 14, 2008 at 18:31
how about hollier for head of scouting and use him for bring stars of the future and let keegan and shearer get on with it
but i still think we need someone with more experience who will bring in big names ie lippi or jose
29 Kash2 // Jan 14, 2008 at 18:31
Van Gaal is another Gullit ie RUBBISH! Most likely he’ll drop Taylor and try to sell him for £0.5m.
30 Parky93 // Jan 14, 2008 at 18:32
Come Kevin Keegan. He has passion and flair him and Alan would be perfect. We will the football that we played when i want born!! He is my choice COME ON KEEGAN!!!!!
31 Sloop Jon B // Jan 14, 2008 at 18:33
Here’s a snippet from goal.com following the Ajax result-
All things considered, the 56-year-old remained calm. “In the first half we were simply better than Ajax and even after the restart we really came close to making it 2-2. What happened after their third goal does not really interest me.”
Like his style- ‘balls! we’re 3-1 down. Can’t be bothered with this!’
Better than Ajax for 45 minutes is a whole lot better than nearly competing with Derby for 1o!
32 Kash2 // Jan 14, 2008 at 18:33
It would be good if we could actually have a really good Director of Football to coordinate our scouting! However I really don’t think KK and AS are the answer to our woes.
Guus Hiddink would be an amazing manager for us. He’s like the most tactically astute manager ever but with the ability to make rubbish players stars like Martin O’Neill!
33 Kash2 // Jan 14, 2008 at 18:35
Dutch league is mickey mouse, if Luque can play there then anyone can. Same goes for managers, mickey mouse!
34 Ed Harrison // Jan 14, 2008 at 18:35
If Kevin comes we think that could set up Alan to come in after 2-3 years - maybe initially as assistant manager to Kev. That could be long term manager planning.
Wow - what a concept.
35 Sloop Jon B // Jan 14, 2008 at 18:35
Kash2-
Van Gaal has been a success everywhere he’s been. We should give him a chance, like Gullit, so he can blot his copy book!

H from steps eh! Would he sort us out from the back!!
Course he would smile a lot….22 blokes running about in shorts.
37 Ed Harrison // Jan 14, 2008 at 18:37
Martin O’Neil would have been great for us after Roeder - but we don’t think he thought much of Freddy - look what he’s done at Villa - 6th place - but that’s after 1.5 seasons.
Sam didn’t get that length of time and last Jan Villa were down near the bottom of the table.
38 Sloop Jon B // Jan 14, 2008 at 18:37

40 Greavsie // Jan 14, 2008 at 18:38
Can’t really understand this Keegan stuff. It was good while it lasted, but it’s over, been over 10+ years. Keegan was found wanting on many occasions, and admitted that as far as tactics are concered, he’s not at the races. Other than motivational powers, and “rable rousing”, what can he seriously offer in 2008? It’s pure sentimentality at work here. Let’s get real and look boldy forwards, not backwards through rose-tinted sun glasses.
41 Frankieboy // Jan 14, 2008 at 18:40
She who must be obeyed is obviously a Steps fan then
Anyway back to the football.
42 iain // Jan 14, 2008 at 18:44
lippi - best manager in the world.
van gaal/hiddink/mourinho/hitzfeld/pos ancellotti, benitez and rijkaard - proven winners across europe all have won the cl.
advocaat/houlier/sven - proven winners of domestic cups/titles good european knowledge. both understand british football.
hughes/valverde/pelegrini/prandelli - good managers who produced top 4 challenging teams on tight budgets
mowbry/collins - no big club exp, both play the type of football we like and imo handle players well, can spot a good player for peanuts.
keegan/shearer - last resort if all esle fails options, will serve the club with pride if little else, for keehan you should never go back and also never appoint such an inxeperienced manager. f**k off if you think roy keane would of been given a pl job straight off without starting out where he did - sland facing relegation in the division below.
work are way down that list and see what happens.
id rather be turned down by half off them than never ask if they fancied the job.

48 Frankieboy // Jan 14, 2008 at 18:49
Houllier could be moved “upstairs ” when Shearer would eventually take the reigns. Another position he has experience in and would also be instrumental in attracting young French stars like Zog for the future. He certainly has many advantages over some others and again promotes continuity
I want money back off my fiver.
49 Toon - through & through! // Jan 14, 2008 at 18:52
I’d like to see Houiller or the “special one” as they are both not only great managers but both have good contacts in european football & can pick good players to bring in - look at their past buys & also the likes of Wenger & his ability to pick players.
We need a foreign manager at the moment - yes maybe in the future bring Big Al in but I’d rather Ashley look overseas at the mo. Let’s face it - to bring in decent players we WILL need a big name & there aren’t many great players available in the UK!
50 James // Jan 14, 2008 at 18:53
Houllier is not being considered. I have that on good authority.
51 Sloop Jon B // Jan 14, 2008 at 18:53
Can someone tell me which youngsters Houiller brought to Liverpool who have gone into the first team?
This is a man who named Bruno Cheyrou as the next Zidane- Joey Barton has some Zidane qualities. Unfortunately, they’re the ones which result in others seeking medical assistance!

Can this be confirmed by anybody.
59 Simon // Jan 14, 2008 at 19:00
Shearer and KK would be the dream ticket but risky; someone on Radio 5 said it would be like giving the keys to a Ferrari to your nine year old. Sparky has his merits, look where Blackburn are in the league,? I’d settle for that at this stage of the season.

62 Tez131 // Jan 14, 2008 at 19:03
Houllier had liverpool labelled boring football, really defencive. I just don’t know if the fans would give him time??
Also Houllier didn’t exactly always buy great players:
“Houllier’s unsuccessful summer signings of 2002, namely El-Hadji Diouf (Lens 10 million), Salif Diao (Sedan 5 million) and Bruno Cheyrou (Lille 4 million)), and his failure to make Nicolas Anelka’s loan ” Anthony Le Tallec and Florent Sinama-Pongolle. Cisse for 14million
He also claimed many of his sigings are the “next Zidane” like Igor Biscan, Bruno Cheyrou and Anthony Le Tallec.
Although he did buy Stephane Henchoz and Sami Hyypiä which worked well.
He may have done well at Lyon but to be honest they had just won their previous fourth successive championship when he joined.
63 Kash2 // Jan 14, 2008 at 19:03
All the youngsters that Liverpool are signing now are because of the scouting process Houillier implemented at Liverpool. Just like Wenger he implemented a world wide network, then Rafa came in and gave his specification of players and thats the players they signing!
64 Frankieboy // Jan 14, 2008 at 19:03
Looks good on a CV. Would there be compensation issues ?
65 Johann // Jan 14, 2008 at 19:03
Shearer would be fantastic really. And he doesn´t need any help. Experience and age doesn´t matter at all. Then Alan Curbishley would be one of the best around.
66 Frankieboy // Jan 14, 2008 at 19:05
Apparently Curbishly was considered but politely declined yesterday. Just what i heard.
67 Kash2 // Jan 14, 2008 at 19:05

Sloop Jon B - it’s all in presentation…we have a rich owner, massive fanbase, great facilities, 6th place would be a succes, so there would be no pressure on him and we have some great players already at the club…
mourinho to AC Milan? serie a is the most boaring leagure of all, milan doesn’t spend a lot on players and they have only like 3 players who are below 30, so…no, i don’t think mourinho likes it…and he’d be under a lot of pressure…plus serie a has too much problems…sth wrong with it every season…

A senior source at St James’ Park maintained yesterday that Redknapp was “never the only name in the frame” to succeed Allardyce. “There is a difference between a job interview and a job offer,” the source said. “We have spoken to more than one person and we will be speaking to more people this week and it won’t be narrowed down to these shores.”

HAMMY - keep ‘em coming (the wisecreacks, that is). I haven’t laughed out loud on a Toon site for ages - until now!
102 craig chisholm // Jan 14, 2008 at 20:16
van gal has managed proven teams when he would have always had a good chance. managing ajax is like managing either celtic or rangers in jockland - so forget about the dutch crap. then what have you got, oh yeah, barca-fing-lona, christ, i reckon even souness might have been able to get something out of them. besides, bobby robson had a much more acomplished cv, he was the dogs gonads everywhere he went.. and he is a geordie………and he himself did not get to he dizzy hights of KK either. Infact i think that it is fair to say that we have been in a very slow decline ever since KK left us. So for me lads, i would be thrilled if he came ‘home’, its where is heart is and its also where our heart is too. we need people with big hearts and alot of pride to run our team. what all of these other managers (other than sir bob) just did not get, was the way we are about our footy. they just didn’t get us or take the time to get into our hearts. they were great men really, daglish, souness, guillet, sam, all top blokes in their own right - they could not get it right though. they all thought that they could come in, win some games, spend shit loads of money and that’ll be it. well, we aint chelski, we aint fair weather supporters. we aint prawn sandwich eaters like manure either. we aint like the makens (half as many people going when they play bad).. we are geordies, there is no-one else like us anywhere in the footballing world. i want keegan back, we need him and we need his passion and sheer honesty… cumon lads, have you all forgotten…..have you ever seen another manager cry for his team in an interview (i’d just love it if we beat them). how can anyone not want him, christ, tell me where he si and i would drive up there and get on my hands and knees to him in person. of course king kevs strong points can also be his achilles heel, his passion makes him crack……….well, thats where shearer comes in. he has balls of steel and the pair would be brilliant, we all want it really, some are just a bit scared to risk it………we might not win em all, but f@@k, we’d play with passion and flair.
103 James // Jan 14, 2008 at 20:16
Andreas - you must have me mixed up with someone else. I have never thought it was going to be Shearer. From day one I said it would be Keegan and even put £10 on it at 40-1 on Weds last week.

107 Rob // Jan 14, 2008 at 20:25
If Ashley is going to give the next manager big money, then we certainly need to install someone used to buying players succesfully for more than 10 million.
Imagine theres a lot of presure not only having the balls to buy but to manage them after you have paid that much for a player.
Smaller managers used to bargins and small time players keep away. The onlt way we can compete atthe top is to styart buying the best
108 scotty // Jan 14, 2008 at 20:31
Rob - good point there, i agree
109 James // Jan 14, 2008 at 20:33
Anybody think Ashley will now go after Rafa? He’s gonna be pushed out of Anfield shortly from all reports.
110 Sloop Jon B // Jan 14, 2008 at 20:33
I’ve np doubt that should KK make an emotional return to SJP there would be must rejoicing.
Remember though we are no longer in the position to buy the worlds most expensive players- Warren Barton was formerly the most expensive defender on the planet.
Back then, you got a lot of player for 15m- the modern equivilent would be four times that.
Sure KK would know what to do with Milner and Zog though!
The defence we have now, is better than Peacock et al- so who knows, we may be able to get away with 3-3 draws at Anfield rather than conceding the last minute!
Still drawn to Van Gaal.

Ed - you didn’t say…..what price are Ant & Dec now?
114 Black and White Blood // Jan 14, 2008 at 20:46
Keegan - No other contender in my humble opinion!
Unlike most other clubs, most managers up hear don’t appear to be able to adjust easily, regardless of pedigree. Not because a lack of ability, but rather, pressures sustained from local Acid media and fans alike. Let’s be honest, Dalgleish had won the Premier league, Gullit FA Cup, Robson too much experience to list and Souness a trophy at every club he managed with the exception of Southampton - Ok Roeder and Allardyce should never have been considered yet alone appointed.
Nevertheless, every manager appointed since Keegan has at some point encountered a section of fans turn on them with poisonous venom. An awful lot of fans fail to recall Dyer refusing to play on the right side; comments were rife that Robson had lost control of the dressing room, questioning whether he was too old and if it was time for him to go. No I’m not having a go at the fans; I agree, it is you and I who fork out hard earned cash for season tickets year after year, therefore entitled to such opinions. However, I am trying to emphasise the importance and role fans play up here in the North, people down south just don’t understand or have the same affinity to a football club as we do up here. Who ever we appoint, it will be mandatory that they posses one distinguishable ability more than any other and that is the ability to whip the city into a frenzy of excitement, as Keegan did in the 90’s. He wore his heart and colours on his sleeve every day. Such passion provided fans with a confidence, a belief you could argue. You could witness this confidence transferred from the 38,000+ fans packed into St James onto the players each Saturday afternoon. I don’t think there are many managers that are capable of doing that, can anyone imagine Huges, Houllier or even Van Gaal..? How many managers would feel a sincere need to stand at the top steps and explain their reasons for selling a player..? No I thought not, that’s a man who cares about the club, that’s all the fans expect!
Furthermore, we all remember the style in which we played with under Keegan, such flair and panache, quick attacking football. To be honest it doesn’t matter who gets the job they will be compared to KK, therefore why not take a chance and install Keegan with Shearer. Surely this would promote long-term stability. And if for some unforeseeable reason it did not work out, at least fans would be in a position to progress from what was termed the Keegan era, effectively lifting a weight from the club! Personally I am of the opinion that such a partnership would be a very successful one, for that reason come on Mike please bring back King Kev
115 Jamie G // Jan 14, 2008 at 20:51
i agree with craig chisolm, i’m from “jockland” lol but im a die hard magpie and im warming to keegan, i started supporting the club when he was there. i was only 5, but im 17 now and lived through dissasapointment after dissapointment (apart from sir bobby) and i just think it would be such a romantic appointment, especially if Big Al came into the backroom staff, it would give the place such a lift, and maybe teams (including the top 4) will start to fear playing newcastle again. Howay the Lads
116 James // Jan 14, 2008 at 20:55
Quique Flores - available and technically very clever. Used to be at Valencia. A very good manager. Think of Mourinho and Rafa a few years ago before they came here.
He used to manage the Real Madrid youth team, then went on to manage Getafe and took them to the cup final. Then got the Valencia job and took them back into the Champions League.
Although Spanish he is fluent in English.

Coppell left Palace in October 1996 to become manager of Manchester City, a job that he would quit after only six games and 33 days in charge. He cited the pressure of the job as his reason[1] for leaving the club.

I wasn’t keen on Van Gaal as he hasn’t done anything for 10 years, including managing the rare feat of not getting Holland qualified for a world cup finals. Then I read Tim Krul’s Van Gaal interview and now I’m certain I don’t want him. He sounds like the dutch Gordon Lee!
“Players count for nothing, the team is everything. I set more store by a player’s character than by his on-field qualities”. No thanks!
125 James // Jan 14, 2008 at 21:14
I agree, Coppell is a good manager but SJP would stress him out too much. He’s not ready for such a massive job.
Quique Flores - sacked on Monday and looking for a top job. Finished 3rd in first year with Valencia and 4th in second year. Mainly because he bought very well. Was released because of failure to progress in Champions League. But this is someone Real Madrid believe will one day coach their team. He is only 41 and speaks fluent english. Likes football to be played fast and on the floor.

Whilst not being totally serious I think he would do better than half the names being banded about, McClaren, Bruce for instance!

i can not beleive that anyone wants poxy van gal - his is pants. he has had a charisma by-pass, he openly admits that he cares more for determitation of an individual over ability - i disagree, look at robbie savage, he is shit but runs everywhere. he will be terrible for us. besides, he is on the verge of getting sacked himself - lost 9 out 0f 24 this season or some shit like that - oh yeah, a real top manager. anyone who wants him can not be a geordie at HEART. while i’m on a role, hughes is even frigging worse. we have to get shearer and a-n-other. its right what everyone else says, he is too big a name for any manager to cope with. shearer has to come in and give it a try cos his very name is like a monkey on the back of every manager that comes in - other than………a few special ones, king kev or jose himself. either one of those would be great. jose would get us the wins but in a dour fashion, kk would get more wins that losses but it would be great.
137 Graham // Jan 14, 2008 at 21:26
James - to be fair I only watch Spanish football if Barcelona are playing, but the bits i have seen of valencia have been pretty impressive.
However, I know it sounds corny but i think that in order to restore the lost confidence and pride in our team - we could really do with some local influences (is it me or do i sound like Freddy Shepherd - 11 geordies and all that crap)
138 Greg B // Jan 14, 2008 at 21:26
Quique Flores, yes, whilst I have heard of him I didnt know he was available. After reading up on him Id be all for him taking charge - sounds like he has his head screwed on and has a decent track record, well an excellent track record compared with some of the other ‘candidates’.
139 Shearer's the man // Jan 14, 2008 at 21:26
Forget about the transfer window. This season is a dead loss anyway. Money spent in January is invariably a waste of money (spend in haste….repent at leisure and all that!). Alan will come in, get to know the current squad, most of them will be a different proposition palaying under a new (non-long ball, non-defensive style) and will steady the ship and decide how to spend the money in the summer when players are more freely available and not priced at a kings ransome.

When Ashley took over in the summer he knew damn well who he would want in charge in an ideal world. He has never said who that person is. But I’ve always believed it was Keegan, hence the 40-1 wager last week. I’m not saying its the right choice. But I do feel it has always been Ashley’s number 1.

Craig - even Jose would live in Shearers shadow. Its an awful thing to say but the man has become too big an influence over all of us.
Footballer, yes, but theres no other club in europe who would name a bar within the ground after a (then) current player. If Shearer does come, he will undoubtedly need help and guidance over the first 2-3 years, and while i agree that you should never go back in life, Kevin Keegan is the perfect piece in the jigsaw for Shearer to take full control in 3 years time - hell, we can even have another testimonial for Keegan at the end - helicopters and all!

Greg B - If Shearer had proved he had the talent of Flores, it would be Shearer’s job hands down.
But none of the top draw world class managers would come to Newcastle right now. There’s too much to fix.
So why not go for the next generation of world class managers. Ten years from now Flores will be managing Real Madrid in the Champions League, and we’ll be saying we could have had him first.
He’s available, cheap, talented, a very good record in the transfer market including poaching youngsters from real madrid’s academy.

Lots of football people have talked about David Villa and the attacking play of Valencia with Villa as the spearhead - well who do you think got them playing like that and brought Villa to the fore - Quique Flores.
This is a man who said he wants his teams to play like Real Madrid of the 60s. Fast and on the floor. Of course it is still a gamble. But he has more talent than Harry, Hughes, or Jol.
The problem with Keegan is that he is the past. Shearer is too far in the future (ten years from now). We need someone who is the next generation of talent and is available now. Quique Flores is the man for Newcastle.
