It looks like our players are not having too much luck in the African Cup of Nations.

Geremi - Cameroon beaten 4-2 by Egypt last night
Last night Cameroon went down 4-2 to Egypt and Newcastle midfielder Geremi played the full 90 minutes for the Cameroon side. Geremi was credited with setting up Cameroon’s second goal last night.
Oba Martins also got off to a losing start on Monday night when Nigeria were beaten 1-0 by the Ivory Coast, with a late goal deciding that game.
Geremi’s next game is on Saturday evening against Zambia. Habib Beye and Abdoulaye Faye begin their campaign tomorrow night when Senegal face Tunisia in Tamale.
Oba plays his next game for Nigeria against Mali on Friday evening.
If the lads keep losing, the good news for Newcastle is they’ll be home sooner rather than later, but we’d also obviously like them to do well over there, for their countries.
Comments welcome.

Good news, the sooner they are out the sonner they will return. Oh Cameroon in the final is no problem to me, than Geremi is someone we don’t miss.
I think Senegal tonight will win and they have a good chance of going far in the tournament.

agree, geremi can stay there!! But probably won’t the likely hood is we will get martins and geremi back, but our best two from that group, and possibly of the season to date in beye and faye will probably go all the way!! DAMN
Anyway, sack/sell AMEOBI…bring in Shearer as No2 to KEV, and get in BERBATOV!!!

yeah this is great news, i watched the games and was hoping they get beat
. On the downside though, Oba played like shit and so did Geremi.
Now let’s keep our fingers crossed the Senegal gets beat too today so we can have Faye and Beye home quickly.

watched the 2nd half of Cameroon’s game vs. Egypt. Geremi actually set the first goal up on a great cross for an Eto’o header. Geremi wasn’t great, but whipped in a couple good balls. played RB and got forward (as they were down 3-0 by halftime). still confused as to why BS refused to play Geremi at RB…
