Newcastle United manager Kevin Keegan is now reported to be after Goran Pandev, the Lazio striker who himself has announced today, there is an offer from the Tyneside club.

Goran Pandev - 6′0″ Macedonian International striker wanted by Newcastle?
The 24-year-old Macedonia international, who has represented his country 35 times and scored 12 goals has already been linked with Liverpool, Bayern Munich and Valencia.
He has scored 8 goals this season for Lazio in just 16 appearances and told Makedonski Sport today:
“This morning the people from the club told me about the offer from Newcastle,”
“Keegan’s club want the negotiations to start soon, but I don’t know anything about the figures and a possible sum.â€
“I am used to offers lately, but I don’t decide, so this time it’s not up to me againâ€
“Several days ago we agreed with Lazio for me to stay up to June, but anything is possible.”
Pandev has played 121 times for Lazio since joining them in 2004, and has scored 38 goals for the Rome club. Goran was born in Strumica, in the old SFR Yugoslavia in July, 1983, which is now the Republic of Macedonia.
What do you think?

Do it!
His best position is definitely second striker/attacking midifeld.
Hes very much like a Gudjohnsen or a van Persie.
2 Rich // Jan 23, 2008 at 14:33
ye go for it very good player, similar to Gudjohnsen as Tom says, he would link up well with Martins/Owen in my opinion. Get him bedded in this season ready for next
3 toon1978 // Jan 23, 2008 at 14:33
Lets keep our fingers crossed Tom_Toon
4 James // Jan 23, 2008 at 14:35
With Pandev pulling the strings, Owen would score loads of goals.
5 geordie in taipei // Jan 23, 2008 at 14:40
The news seems to be all about strikers and defenders….. is it only me that believes we really need a skillful energetic all round quality midfielder?????????????
6 broon ale // Jan 23, 2008 at 14:40
is this story made up.? sounds like the player using our good club to raise his profile.
7 Tom_Toon // Jan 23, 2008 at 14:42
Raise his profile? He doesnt really need too, Bayern Munich, Everton, Valencia and Liverpool have recently been interested in him.
8 wayne // Jan 23, 2008 at 14:42
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=PPDStsv1MLo not great quality footage worth a look
9 broon ale // Jan 23, 2008 at 14:44
Tom_Toon- yeah according to him/his agent
10 Tom_Toon // Jan 23, 2008 at 14:45
If it was unfound then the club could sue and/or more likely, release a statement..
11 Rich // Jan 23, 2008 at 14:45
a see a figure floating around of 11million, still think he would be a quality buy, he can play midfield also, but we still need a quality midfielder
12 Ashton // Jan 23, 2008 at 14:46
hey mates
anyone saw kadar yesterday ?
i’ve heard very nice things about him
13 James // Jan 23, 2008 at 14:47
Of all the rumours flying around about players, this is the one quality player that I actually think Newcastle could sign this month if they wanted to. It’s too hard to get the others to leave their current clubs.
14 sparetheman // Jan 23, 2008 at 14:49
He could be saying it just to rally up some interest, yeah broon ale, but at least this makes a change from some poxy journalist trying to sell his papers. There have been too many rumours - maybe we should wait and see at the end of the week, eh?
15 James // Jan 23, 2008 at 14:49
Ashton - Kadar is going to be a Toon legend at the back. Great player. One of our best signings in years, and it only cost us £900K
16 ronaldeano // Jan 23, 2008 at 14:51
If he can play as an attacking midfielder… Good move
17 toon1978 // Jan 23, 2008 at 14:51
Come on Keegan get this Panzev in would be a god signig.
18 ToonKing // Jan 23, 2008 at 14:53
Pandev is sheer quality, perfect player in the hole. If we can sign him we should act immediatly.
PS: Wasn’t there a bloke here recently who’s been preaching about Pandev like Tom_Toon does about Chkitaoui ??
19 Black and White Blood // Jan 23, 2008 at 14:54
Yes me….
Not really but please feel free to credit me!!!!
20 Tom_Toon // Jan 23, 2008 at 14:55
Watch for Chikhaoui tonight! Beye and Faye wont be able to handle him!
and Chermiti if he isnt banned, hes very much like Zidan of Egypt!
21 Ashton // Jan 23, 2008 at 14:55
yeah james and he is only 17 !
22 Nev // Jan 23, 2008 at 14:56
would be a great signing
seen him on plenty of ocassions in CL/uefa and sA on five
very similar to ashravin .. but alot more experienced against top flight opposition
anything around £10mil would be a good deal
23 Michael // Jan 23, 2008 at 14:56
Not a prolific goalscorer but would bring much needed creativity and flair.
24 Ross // Jan 23, 2008 at 14:56
bianchi is set to leave man c for lazio for around 9 mil.
apparently in rome for a medical now.
allowing pandev to come to us should he want to.
25 Matt Lacey // Jan 23, 2008 at 14:57
I reckon he’d be a quality signing, would definitely help Owen rack up the goals and I think Martins would benefit a lot from having a player like him around as well.
If we get him and another good box-to-box midfielder I think we’re laughing
26 Black and White Blood // Jan 23, 2008 at 14:59
Nev - Pendev bid is reported to be in the region of £19million…. Is he worth it..? Got to be honest i’ve never seen him play so have no idea!
27 ELFER // Jan 23, 2008 at 15:00
nonsense again…how can you believe we woul bit for another striker???
we need one LB/RW/FB
28 Tom_Toon // Jan 23, 2008 at 15:01
B&W, its reported a 11.2mil, i wouldnt go over 13 mil for him though. Cos we can get Chikhaoui for that
29 Michael // Jan 23, 2008 at 15:01
Pandev bid is in the region of 11 million mate.
30 Ross // Jan 23, 2008 at 15:02
its apparently around 15mil euros, 11.2 million sky sports say.
31 Jimmie // Jan 23, 2008 at 15:02
I have nothing against Pandev but i still think we should go for Elmander instead. He can also play in an advanced midfield role and yes, hes from sweden but please forget about Andreas Andersson couse they are total diffrent players..
32 Black and White Blood // Jan 23, 2008 at 15:03
Ah….. Thanks, I thought £19 was a bit on the high side…. His he worth £11..?
33 Tom_Toon // Jan 23, 2008 at 15:05
B&W - Just about.
34 Mighty Mouse // Jan 23, 2008 at 15:06
anyone know where to watch the African Cup on the web?
35 Ross // Jan 23, 2008 at 15:09
B&W, i’d say he was probably worth it aye.
given the chance, he knows where the net is, and has a good first touch on him.
i think he’d work well in our team
36 t-g-w // Jan 23, 2008 at 15:11
Black And White Blood I’m worth about £11 lol maybe Keegan should try and sign me!
37 ChrisL // Jan 23, 2008 at 15:13
He seems like a good player, but I’ll never be a fan of any player that openly announces:
“Keegan’s club want the negotiations to start soon, but I don’t know anything about the figures and a possible sum.â€
Smells of someone more worried about the cash then the football. But, if he comes, I hope it works out.
38 Tom_Toon // Jan 23, 2008 at 15:15
ChrisL - I agree its not the best thing to say in an interview but he aint gonna come here if we pay him less than hes getting in lazio.
39 Black and White Blood // Jan 23, 2008 at 15:16
t-g-w - Yeah…. dream team you and me up front!!!! total worth £11.99p
40 david // Jan 23, 2008 at 15:18
Same as Black and White Blood:
I thought £19 was a bit on the high side.
I wouldn’t go a penny over £18.99!

ha ha ha ha tom_toon you really make me when will u ever stop going on about Chikhaoui please keegan get Chikhaoui sp tom _toon will shut up about him.
ive heard of pandev never seen him play mind 11.2m is alot of money but thats what u pay for qaulity and i hope he is but i really think we need a creative attacking midfiled player more than we do a striker
44 Tez131 // Jan 23, 2008 at 15:47
I wonder if Sven, being an ex lazio manager is considering some sort of deal with them for Pandev.
bianchi + cash for Pandev?
45 Tom_Toon // Jan 23, 2008 at 15:49
scott9 - you can see chikhaoui vs our senegal boys tonight.
46 nufcmkd // Jan 23, 2008 at 15:53
“Although Newcastle is in crises, it’s a big club. With Keegan’s arrival turnaround is expected. There is another thing. Matrins plays for them. We were together with the Nigerian in the youth team in Inter.” I’m from Macedonia and that is the rest of the interview of Pandev.
Tez131-I think that Pandev was in Inter (or still in Macedonia) when Sven was at Lazio.

Arsenal gets drubbed 5-1 by Spurs, and no Midd the Yidd?
This could be an interesting result for us, what mental state will Arsenal be in going into Saturday’s match? Bendtner and Abedayour also got into some on the field bust-up (ala Dyer-Bowyer!)

, eurosport it is then
54 ObaFan2 // Jan 23, 2008 at 16:25
Midd the Yid will still be drunk and I’d be too if I were him
As for Pandev, he sounds good and seems to like to play behind the front two? As we wouldn’t have to rely on him immediately to settle it would be a good time to buy a player like him.
55 ChrisL // Jan 23, 2008 at 16:33
@Hadrian
“can never get bbci on cable , always says loading”
Cable can’t use the interactive ‘red-button’ features, that’s why I dumped them a couple of years back. Works just fine on freeview.

57 Hadji // Jan 23, 2008 at 16:49
Tom Toon…With all the respect to you and Chikhaoui, but don’t compare Chikhaoui with Pandev cause Pandev is way way better and more proven player than Chikhaoui.
If they sign him which i really doubt i’ll be on the moon.
GO PANDEV.you’re our pride of Macedonia
58 Gordon Benz // Jan 23, 2008 at 16:51
Very very good player. From what i have seen on youtube he is a very good dribler and a real Keegan type player. Reminds me of Peter Beardsley…
Get him!
59 DP // Jan 23, 2008 at 17:00
I like Pandev, he’d be a perfect addition to the forward line, he’s quick, his dribbling is superb, he can finish as well. What I like most about him is that he’s a very unselfish player, oba and MO would both, in theory link up very well with him
Good left foot, can head a ball and he’s a good worker. I can’t see it happening, by all accounts I think his agent may be talking up a new contract from Lazio, but we can but hope!
HOWAY THE LADS!!
60 Jamie G // Jan 23, 2008 at 17:02
he looks v good, just youtubed him. scored a couple of quality goals, which we’ve been sadly lacking this season. we also need a centre back but im not just sure how woodgate would fit in, he spends more time on the injury table than at the dinner table. i suppose he could keep michael owen company…
i would also love to see wayne bridge and a creative midfielder brought in…like aiden mcgeady or david bentley.
61 DP // Jan 23, 2008 at 17:05
Tom Toon, Yassine Chikhaoui, the little left midfielder who plays for FC Zurich? i’m with you pal, bags of potential, but from what I’ve heard he’s signed a pre-contract with Inter as of the start of next season. Not sure how much truth there is in that though, as far as I was aware he only signed a five year deal with Zurich in June!? any further info anyone??
62 seetow // Jan 23, 2008 at 17:06
if you look at spuds’ 16 mil pound “capture” of darren bent, i reckon goran pandev would be a great buy at 11mil. and he’s godlike in fm 2008.. HAHA

The little was a joke, every time i’ve seen him he’s been on the left of a three in an attacking midfield role. Dont think we’ve got any chance though if Inter are sniffing about!
Carl, where’d you hear the woody in toon talks??

Hi! I’m from Macedonia! Pandev is the best Macedonian player! But as a Newcastle fan i think that this will not be a good singing! Pandev is great, his left is great, but he is not strong in clash with defenders! 15 milions is too much for him! He will go in Bayern, he is like Podolski or Eduardo! He has a better technical quality from Gudhjohnsen! I think, Martins to stay is better!

Middlesborough and Newcastle have agreed a fee. Woodgate is discussing personal terms, and must then pass a medical. Hard to pass a medical when he is injured though.
Be good to have him back.
75 Gordon d // Jan 23, 2008 at 19:25
Where are you getting your info from James?
76 Nick C // Jan 23, 2008 at 19:55
Woodgate is probably the best centre half i have seen in a toon shirt, but those injuries have made him look a little pedestrian. I just read that we gonna pay 9 mill for him. I find that hard to believe for such a gamble.
Also, Pandev looks a good player on youtube, but the again so did Mr Luque!!
Dunno wot to think really…….
77 Toni_Macedonia // Jan 23, 2008 at 20:42
Pandev will be great adition to Newcastle.
He has great technical ability and he has sense of scoring goals. Pandev is still young so he can still improve himself. He doesn’t care about the money , that he said for one of our newspapers week or two ago ass other think that he is all about the money. And I want to know Newcastle fans that with his 24 years Goran Pandev made a lott for Macedonian football not just by that he is
excellent football player, he is also sponsor in some of our lower league football clubs. He is fantastic in and out from the field.
Greetings and FORZA NEWCASTLE

Reports for Pandev are looking stronger but i’m not taking anything for granted until i hear anything official fromNUFC same goes for Woodgate or anyone else.P.S where’s Midd the Yidd thought he would be on gloating.

hes been playing in midfield for lazio this season
“Goran Pandev’s position varies, his favoured position is a centre foward (supporting striker) for Lazio playing behind Tommaso Rocchi, but he has been given a free role which means he can play anywhere in the midfield. This position is very similar to Attacking Midfield.”
(wikkepedia)
83 Tom_Toon // Jan 23, 2008 at 20:57
Yep, that his best position, i think he’s best behind the front two and when cutting in from the wing.

he also hit four goals in six Champions League group games, with three of these coming in the home-and-away ties against Real Madrid.
