i dont want to be reminded of how bad the ref was and how bad NICKY BUTT was
2 Tripp // Feb 4, 2008 at 19:55
Hey Ed,
You need to give Duff his FA goal in your stats.
3 ToonKing // Feb 4, 2008 at 19:57
KK will give an interview to the BBC on 7th February and we can submit questions that hopefully will be asked of him.

i’m gonna send in a question inquiring as why he keeps playing Butt.
4 Swede1891 // Feb 4, 2008 at 20:19
Thats sounds good Toonking. Will ask the same question…There is something seriously strange about Butt NEVER being dropped to the bench! When Emre was taken off..it all went downhill…
5 gloryhunter // Feb 4, 2008 at 20:52
I wish I’d never watched their goal again. At least Shay isn’t being interviewed by anal oliver in the comical tonight.
6 ToonKing // Feb 4, 2008 at 20:58
Geremi scored from a freekick for Cameroon.
They are leading 2-0 now, so it looks like he’s staying in Africa for a while more……………not that that is a necessarily a bad thing…..
7 Tripp // Feb 4, 2008 at 21:15
Thanks for the link, TK. I posted a question via email. A phone call would require a second mortgage on the house!
8 Tripp // Feb 4, 2008 at 21:16
Who would you guys rather see on the pitch, Butt or Geremi?
9 CJ // Feb 4, 2008 at 21:20
Tripp- Butt has been very bad but Gereim has been very very very very bad. Iv’e seen Geremi many times this season when the ball is slowly rolling to his feet, the ball just roll’s underneath his feet something you do when your a 5 year old kid and he is far too slow and switches off far to much during games.
10 Leo* // Feb 4, 2008 at 21:32
ive submitted my question, basically the jist of it was, why is butt playing
i would rather have faye instead of butt or geremi faye is great and composed
11 CJ // Feb 4, 2008 at 21:35
Leo- I agree i would have Faye ahead of Butt or Geremi or Barton as you said he is very composed and doesn’t panic when he has possesion and he is a decent passer of the ball.
12 Punk Skunk // Feb 4, 2008 at 21:42
How many phuckin’, shit-suckin’ mother-phuckin’, ass-wiping, dodgey, bullshit, etc, etc, decisions are gonna go against us this season?..
…Owen’s probably had more goals incorrectly chalked off than he’s scored, it’s pathetic reffing at it’s absolute worst!..Surely something has to be done about it!..It seems like we’re have to play against the ref & his asses in every game!..
…It completely SUCKS!..
13 Punk Skunk // Feb 4, 2008 at 21:45
Defo, Faye over Butt & Geremi all game long…In fact leave ‘em both out & play Faye & 9 others, we’d prob. do better!..
14 the artist formerly known as cooldj // Feb 4, 2008 at 21:46
I’ve got to hand it to Tom Toon or whoever it was banging on about Chiaouki. he really does look good!
15 Punk Skunk // Feb 4, 2008 at 21:46
Oo-er misses!..
16 CJ // Feb 4, 2008 at 21:47
Punk Skunk- 1000% agree the reffing is getting worse and worse and the refs seem to be getting fatter and fatter and cannot keep up with the game. The linesmen seem to be just guessing when it is offside or not.
17 Punk Skunk // Feb 4, 2008 at 21:51
How cj, i’m afraid it’s not just us either!..But strangely, the usual 4 (arse, manure, chavs, deadpool) don’t seem to be suffering, in fact, again strangely, seem to be profiting, what a surprize!..NOT!..
18 Punk Skunk // Feb 4, 2008 at 21:54
Aye, they are getting fatter, with redder faces too!..We need more refs & line judges to cut down the bullshit mistakes…& they need to be younger & not support the 4 teams i mentioned earlier!..
19 daiv // Feb 4, 2008 at 21:54
Butt and Smith should be playing for Hartlepool reserves. The fact they are playing as regulars for the Toon shows how bad we are and Keegan has gone down in my estimation.
20 Punk Skunk // Feb 4, 2008 at 21:56
No-one deserves H-pool bro’, that’s a bit strong-LOL!..
21 daiv // Feb 4, 2008 at 21:59
Butt and Smith are useless and are the main reason why we create so little. We missed out big time on Diarra.
22 CJ // Feb 4, 2008 at 22:04
Daiv- Diarra is a greedy bastard asking for too much money nearly every player being strongly link with our club seems to talk about money and they are the player’s we should never sign.
23 Leo* // Feb 4, 2008 at 22:06
chickouri scored for tunisia, was a good goal too
24 CJ // Feb 4, 2008 at 22:07
Chikhauoi has just scored a Corka, Tom Toon will be in his bedroom tugging away.
25 Punk Skunk // Feb 4, 2008 at 22:07
Daiv, ya’ right about Butt & Smith mate!..
…We oughta be just leaving ‘em out!..Hopefully,
when the african lads are rested, they’ll walk in to the team!..
26 the artist formerly known as cooldj // Feb 4, 2008 at 22:07
nah mate he’s on bbc 606 i just found him he’s called zetom1!!
27 ToonKing // Feb 4, 2008 at 22:42
agree about the referees. They used to give dodgy decisions but lately they are a complete mess. It’s horrific what they are doing, and it’s not just us, they make terrible decisions in every game now. Let’s just take the weekend, Eduardo offside goal, Andy Johnson, absolutely shocking offside decisons against him, Evra, clear penalty disallowed, Owen goal and penalty disallowed.
It’s getting beyond a joke, they are ruining games. Something must be done……
28 ToonKing // Feb 4, 2008 at 22:46
about Geremi.., i know he has been shite for us so far, but i watched him play for Cameroon now and he’s very influential for the Cameroon team. He had some sweet crosses and freekicks, he even scored and played reasonably at Right-Back.
If i had to choose between him and Butt, and if they were the only choices, i would play Geremi whit out a doubt.
29 Tom_Toon // Feb 4, 2008 at 23:11
Tunisia woz robbed! Cameroon did not deserve to win. Chikhaoui did not have the best of games but was allright and Chermiti should have started or come on at half time, Dos Sanos is poo.
30 ToonKing // Feb 4, 2008 at 23:17
come on Tom_Toon, they deserved it. At least you can now watch rerun after rerun of Chiktaoui’s goal
31 Tom_Toon // Feb 4, 2008 at 23:25
im not quite that obsessed afterall i prefer chermiti, hes got more talent.
32 CJ // Feb 4, 2008 at 23:27
Tom Toon - Am not joking in saying if i was the Swiss police i would ban you from visiting Switzerland incase you kidnap Chikhaoui or i would have you sectioned.
33 Tom_Toon // Feb 4, 2008 at 23:30
never been to switzerland and dont intend to go luckily
been tunisia many a time though!
34 Elliott // Feb 4, 2008 at 23:32
He don’t look great chickhaoui having seen him, non highlights. Lots of running into players/not making runs off the ball. Good goal though. doesn’t look a fighter or a £10m player.
35 Tom_Toon // Feb 4, 2008 at 23:34
The commentators giving Chikhaoui a hard time saying for the big striker he isnt in the box much well that because hes more of an attacking midfielder.
36 CJ // Feb 4, 2008 at 23:43
Tom Toon- Who does Chermiti play for.
37 ToonKing // Feb 4, 2008 at 23:44
some Tunisian club.
38 Tom_Toon // Feb 4, 2008 at 23:48
Etoile du Sahel and apparently we are tracking him and we may put in a bid for 4 mil, happy days.
39 Leo* // Feb 4, 2008 at 23:51
whats wrong with switzerland, i would love to go there, although i hear it is helish expensive
40 CJ // Feb 4, 2008 at 23:51
Surely he wouldn’t cost much if an English team made an offer for him if he was good enough to play in PL. I wouldn’t pay 4mil never mind 1om+ for Chikhaoui from what i have seen of him in the ACN.
41 Leo* // Feb 4, 2008 at 23:53
whos this Etoile du Sahel tom? cant find anything at all on him
42 Tripp // Feb 4, 2008 at 23:54
So how many here are in favour of limited video review?
43 Leo* // Feb 4, 2008 at 23:54
ah its a club, nevermind tom, guess i am tired from constantly staying up late
44 Tom_Toon // Feb 4, 2008 at 23:54
CJ if you are talking about Chikhaoui, hes been hit and miss, second game of the group he was absolutely immense but only Boro and Arsenal are the english team tracking Chikhaoui but its very likely he will go to Bayern in the sumer for about 10 mil.
Chermiti is def worth 4 million, if he was english at his age and scoring record probably like 10 mil at least.
45 Tom_Toon // Feb 4, 2008 at 23:57
http://news.bbc.co.uk/sport1/hi/football/africa/7199078.stm
bit of info on Chermiti.
46 gloryhunter // Feb 4, 2008 at 23:57
Video reviews. No way. There’s enough stoppages what with prawn sarnies, pies, pints and p*sses
47 Tripp // Feb 4, 2008 at 23:59
If arse is tracking him we won’t get him, unless he wants more playing time up front.
Diarra is not the kinda player we want. He’s a trouble maker and has a hugely inflated view of himself. Even if we were willing to pay his wages he’d be nothing but a stroppy c*nt who’d leave (probably sooner rather than later) as soon as something better (more money) came along.
48 Leo* // Feb 5, 2008 at 0:01
video replay is a big no no for me, plus goal line technology, even though it would have seen us win the other day i think it would ruin the game
49 Tripp // Feb 5, 2008 at 0:03
glory hunter….
So you’re saying that when an obvious goal is disallowed, the 30 seconds it would take to review is a waste of time? Hell, the amount of time that it takes a goalie to set up a decent wall is how long it would have taken to review the first disallowed goal. Most of these decisions would easily take about 30 seconds. In my estimation it’s easily worth that. Goal celebrations can go on longer than that… Limited review is the key, perhaps with a challenge rule.
For example, Keegan could challenge the disallowed goal. If he’s right the goal stands. If he’s wrong, a substitute is used up or something to that effect. Or Viduka’s supply of meat pies is stopped for a fortnight.
50 Tripp // Feb 5, 2008 at 0:04
Leo, how would it ruin the game???
51 CJ // Feb 5, 2008 at 0:25
In my opinion video tech on offsides would be good if they could make the decision in under 10 secs cos most linesman are just guessing whether it is offside or not.
52 gloryhunter // Feb 5, 2008 at 0:30
@Tripp. I’m coming round to your way of thinking. Sky Sports could rig it so that there is an advert on whenever the video is being played. We could have rah-rah girls singing “Hey Mickey”. We could replace “L0cal Hero” with the national anthem.
Now where did I put that edible natcho hat?
53 gloryhunter // Feb 5, 2008 at 0:37
Does anyone remember that game at Arsenal about thirteen years ago, when the game was shown on their big screen in one of the corners - replays et al. Well I do. I also remember KK asking Wenger to switch the bloody thing off coz there was almost a riot at some of the decisions going against us. The screen was switched off!
54 Tripp // Feb 5, 2008 at 4:53
I just finished watching the game (setanta broadband put it in the archives late). Shoulda been 2-0 Toon, but I could forgive the linesman for that disallowed boro goal. The first one, however… These are things that could be reviewed in no time. Hell, the non-injuries that happen, with players wallowing on the ground (legitimately or not) waste more time than this business would take. Let’s face it, 3 refs have to watch 22 players and 7140 sq yrds of real estate is unrealistic. There if you’re not gonna do video review (and I stress that it could only be applied to “critical” decisions… our first goal, the offsides on boro’s goal being two examples… diving in the box, perhaps another, though there’s some judgement there) then you need at least 4 linesmen, and two refs on the pitch. Dean made the decision on Owen because he was on the wrong side (Schwarzer was between them) to have a decent view and I’m sure he wanted to give the goalie the benefit of the doubt. If a second ref were on the pitch he could have overruled Dean and the goal would have stood. Video review would have accomplished the same thing, but probably done a better job.
55 Tripp // Feb 5, 2008 at 4:54
Nacho, nacho man. I wanna be a nacho man.
56 Leo* // Feb 5, 2008 at 9:41
i just think it would make it more like american football. dont get me wrong ive been over to america and watched a game, was atlanta and it was their first win in ages and was a white wash in 2001, but the constant stoppages was just annoying
57 Bill F // Feb 5, 2008 at 10:15
It’s really laughable when you see a rerun of the Bolton/ManU cup final where Lofthouse smashed Gregg into the goal. Now that was contact.
In Italy and France (I believe) they now have female linesman, I wonder if they could do better than some of the idiots currently in charge. I do not mind the odd dodgy decision but we seem to be getting more than our fair share at present.
58 Tripp // Feb 5, 2008 at 17:31
American football is nothing but set pieces, really, and I concede that it’s ideally suited to review. However, I’m not saying review every call made by the ref. Just the ones that have a major impact on the game (awarding penalties, disallowing goals, allowing goals that aren’t goals). The goal is to balance the natural flow of the game with enhanced ability to make the right call in critical situations.
59 Tripp // Feb 5, 2008 at 17:31
I wonder if the pace of the game is making it hard for linesmen to keep up.
