Strange Story of Alvaro Transfer That Never Was

Monday February 4th, 2008 by Ed Harrison· 23 Comments

The strange story of the aborted transfer of Brazilian center-back from Levante to Newcastle United gets more strange by the day.

Alvaro - not good communication with his agent

Alvaro has today criticized his agent, Mariam Khadour, who presumably was at the heart of the controversy surrounding his transfer to Newcastle United last week, which didn’t happen.

The Brazilian defender had said he had received an offer from Newcastle United, and that he was going to Newcastle to have a medical, and he was looking forward to signing for the famous North East club.

When it was held up he then thought the offer had been blocked by his club Levante, and he spoke out at the time criticizing Levante, and saying he would never play for the club again.

How very embarrassing, because now he has discovered the bid from Newcastle was only a preliminary feeler, and never a firm offer, so he has now blamed Mariam Khadour, his agent, for building up his hopes of a very lucrative move to St James’ Park, and causing all the trouble.

Alvaro told a press conference today:

“I cannot find a logical explanation for it all,” “I have changed my mind completely and the club has been very strong and responded with everything I wanted.

“Levante has proof of everything that happened and that nobody else is to blame apart from this woman.”

“It was all very difficult, but I want to thank the club for the way things have gone.”

“It is bad to say that they wanted me to go, but I have already asked for forgiveness and I will continue giving everything to Levante,”

“I think it is quite normal to be excited, though, when a club comes in and offers you such incredible amounts.”

Well, now that we know it wasn’t Alvaro’s fault, and it was all completely Mariam’s fault for all the problems …………………. life goes on.

Comments welcome.

    more like losers.

this sort of crap ruins proper discussion on websites like this.

anyway, back to the subject at hand and ignoring the idiots, this whole saga was fishy from the start.

the only person talking about him coming to NUFC was the player himself, and it seemed at the time to me that it was all one-way, because there seemed little movement on the NUFC side.

seems like yet another case of an agent after their 10%

Any player that mentions about money is nothing but a greedy bastard. For 3 grand a week i would let every person in St Jame’s come and piss in my face as long i would have a pair of goggles on.

    Hmmm. Let’s see… £3,000/52,000 =….
    It’s do-able, certainly.

Actually CJ if you are a spotty faced youth they would be doing you a favour as urine is good for spots. Horses pee is a major constituent of some face creams as used by the cosmetic industry.
