Newcastle United 19 year-old striker Andy Carroll, who played for the England Under-19s last night in their 2-0 win against Croatia, may be going out on loan.

Andrew Carroll - 19 year old may be sent until end of the season
Seems like Glenn Roeder is keen on taking the youngster for the rest of the season to Carrow Road, and Andy seems keen on the idea. However, the decision will rest with Newcastle Manger Kevin Keegan, as to whether he thinks the best thing for Andy and the club is to have him go out on loan again.
Glenn Roeder is interested in a striker because Jamie Cureton is out with injury, having just had his appendix removed. Roeder took Newcastle midfielder Matty Pattison on loan in November, and then arranged a permanent deal in January. Andrew will be available on loan, but there’s no possibility Newcastle will let him move permanently from the Tyne-side club. It’s interesting that Glenn gave their first team debuts to both players, when he was manager of Newcastle.
Norwich are not the only clubs who will be interested, if indeed Carroll is made available on loan. Ipswich have already expressed an interest, and there may be other Championship sides who could also be interested.
Peter Harrison, Andrew’s agent, told the Norwich Evening News tonight:
“Andy is certainly interested in Norwich”
“I’m going to sit down and assess the situation with Andy and talk it through, but a lot of it would depend on whether [Newcastle manager] Kevin Keegan gives it the go-ahead.”
“There are other clubs interested in Andy with Ipswich being one of them.”
Newcastle do not have a big squad, and we may need all the players we currently have, in order to maintain stability at the club though the end of the season. It will be interesting to see what Kevin decides to do with Carroll.

Geremi - led Cameroon to the finals of the African Cup of Nations
On another note, Cameroon beat Ghana in the semi finals of the African Cup of Nations tonight to qualify for the final. Geremi played the full game, and had a free lick from 40 years during the first half, which hit the bar, and would have been the goal of the tournament had it gone in. This is the 6th African Cup of Nations final Cameroon have reached, and it was a closely contested game.
The Cameroon goal came completely against the run of play, in the second half and was scored by Nkong.
Cameroon caught Ghana short at the back with Jean Epalle laying the ball back to Samuel Eto, who found Nkong unmarked in the penalty area, and Nkong put the ball in the net.
Rigobert Song - had great game for Cameroon tonight
Ghana probably had the better of the play during the game, but Cameroon defended brilliantly with Galatassary’s Rigobert Song having a great game in the center of their defense.
Wonder if any of our scouts were there to watch him? Well done Geremi, and we wish him the best of luck in the final.
Comments very welcome.

‘free lick from 40 yards’ - really? how much are licks normally? he must have a very long tongue.
‘Arsenal’s Rigobert Song’ you mean Galatassary’s Rigobert Song or Arsenal’s Alexandre Song and he was in defensive midfield.
Not avin a go just making your article correct
Senior moments Ed?

Rigobert Song was shite when he played for West Ham and is even worse now.

I cannot believe we may let Andy Carroll go out on loan again surely if anyone is going to go it has to be Shola he’s been in and around the first team for a long time now and hasn’t proven himself. Carroll went on loan to Preston early on in the season and said himself he didn’t enjoy his time there i think Carroll would do a better job than Shola would do he is a far more intelligant player with a great first touch.

Bearing in mind that Carroll could not break into Preston’s first team, another loan might do him some good.
And Geremi has been playing very well so far in this tournament! Hopefully he can take back his form with him, his deliveries/FK’s in general have been top class.

CJ
Andy or Shola. Norwich City would take either at the moment.
We have been looking for Shola since Glenn Roeder took over.
Does look like he is raiding his old club a bit though, as usual I suppose, as we already have Matty Patterson from yourselves.
Lets Be ‘Avin You…

Bob-Part of Carroll’s problem at Preston was he got sent home from England Juniors and never got back in the Preston squad and when he was at Preston they had a change of manager so it would have been hard to get in the first team.

They should have Smogs v Mackems in Kabul or Baghdad so they get ousted off the face of this earth! or maybe Mexico City so all their payers get kidnapped. They’ll probably eat Mido and Afonso Alves they are both fat enough.

Not really part of this blog but aprevious one to do with the Zog.
I personally think that KK going to the press and saying that we might not be able to keep hold of him in the summer, could well be KK’s 2nd master stroke.
My reasoning:-
1) Every manger up and down the country will be banging on the chairmans door saying ‘in the summer why don’t we put a bid in for him’.
Then up and down the country every chairman will be thinking that they could bring in a coup to appease the fans and manager, so his price will go up because they have a few months to salivate.
2) KK has stated that he like the Zog as player and wants him to be part of his plans but would let him go if he wasn’t happy.
Now this could have one of 2 conclusions.
1) We get an exagerated price for N’Zogbia maybe £15M + (it seems funny that KK went public about N’Zog not being happy after transfer window closed) as the Managers and Chairman will have been thinking about a bid for months and will know that other teams will be interested in him.
2) N’Zogbia thinks that KK has been honest with him about letting him go if he is unhappy, even if he wants him to be part of the future. It also sets down a marker to say if yuor not happy with this club let me know and I’ll sell you and get someone better.
So N’Zogbia will either knuckle down and play his heart out or we’ll get a good price for him.
BTW Master stroke no1 was geting AS as manager off his back by offering him any job he wanted at NUFC except ONE!!!!!!!!!!!!

Ok as an old fa*t with both feet partially in the past, and not is touch with the modern slang. Am I right in assuming that “wall virginity” is a reference to graffiti artists who are first to tag a wall.
40 the artist formerly known as cooldj // Feb 8, 2008 at 11:48
tbh i have no idea. It could well be-a more than intelligent guess. I first heard of it on facebook (which i dont have!) where someone tagged the first comment on board as “wall virginity” to which the next person replied “sloppy seconds”. It was the former comment which made me chuckle though! as far as i’m concerned the wall is this area where we post our comments-hence the first comment takes the walls virginity.
41 Gordon // Feb 8, 2008 at 11:59
I want a free lick! But my tongue’s not long enough to do it from 40 yards *sigh*
42 Leo* // Feb 8, 2008 at 15:32
wall virginity is done sometimes by people who want to be subscribed to the article to read the posts be email. but they dont have anything constructive to say so instead claim wall virginity… or sloppy seconds. anyone agree, well its either that or they are just very imature.
43 the artist formerly known as cooldj // Feb 8, 2008 at 18:22
actually i completely disagree but i understand your jelousy and that’s fine.
