We listed the structure of the club on one of our site = yesterday afternoon and we’d thought it woulkd be good to highlight that structure today.

As best we understand the management structure at Newcastle this is the way it looks:

It looks a good structure, split between the playing side, where Kevin Keegan is of course top dog, and the executive side where Chris Mort is at the top, running the day to day operations of the club. And then there is the Board of Directors that Chris heads as Chaorman.
While Owner Mike Ashley has not been involved too much on the management side, it looks like he will get more involved to ensure the club gets on the right track, as quickly as possible, after a rather shaky start.
Shown in the structure are the new recruitment team of Dennis Wise, Tony Jimenez and Jeff Vetere. If these new executives are doing the job we think they are, they will be hard at work recruiting new players for Kevin in the summer. We expect they have a list at least 10 top names, listing the senior players Kevin wants to target in the summer.
And of course another list with the youngsters they are targeting in the summer. So that looks good to us, even though the popular press keep trying to make it into a problem. A very good structure for recruitment as far as we can see.
A surprise is to see Sir John Hall, as the Life President. Obviously, he brought that title about for himself when he still had some sway in the club. However, after selling his Newcastle shares for an unseemly amount, we wonder if it’s right to still have him there. We don’t think it is, even though he did do well while Chairman of the Club.
We do expect more changes to be made in the above structure. There are rumors that Paul Montgomery will be replaced as Chief Scout and that position may also be elevated, since it’s now a really key position.
We’re very pleased with Adam Sadler as the new Reserve Team manager and he’s an impressive young coach who may have big things ahead of him at the club.
We would also expect the scouting staff to be increased from the 5 involved at the moment. That will be under the control of the new recruitment team, in all likelihood.
So bottom line is the structure looks good.
But yes, we are well aware that most Newcastle fans right now want some wins in the league and that’s the most important thing for the club right now, and we can hardly disagree with that.

No real surprises in the structure, except, i just can not understand how John Hall is life president anymore. Once MA took sole control of the club, the likes of J Halls title would more or less go.
And the other thing i noticed was the missing name of Peter Beardsley. What has happened there! May have been the time of day or a heavy night the night before, but having seen PB on several occaisions at Tescos, he certainly looks the worse for ware. Apart from those two nothing surprises.

Pedro is working for Middlesbrough at present, although Keegan has stated that there is going to be a place somewhere for him in the NUFC heirarchy, he just hasn’t gotten around to speaking to Beardsley yet.

With Beardsley working with Boro its no wonder he looks a bit rough. I go there a couple of time a month and it takes me a day or 2 to get my breath back!
Bring him home to work with the kids or reserves!

John Hall is Life President, probably because it was part of the agreement that was put in place when he sold out to Mike Ashley.
There cant be any other reason that I can think of anyway!!

Not enough Scouts for me, hasn’t Wenger got about 3 million at Arsenal?
There’s a lot of “wtf does Terry Mac do?” comments going round at the moment, does anyone know anything concrete about that?

5 scouts and they probably they arent very good.
We should have 1 in each powerhouse country and then 1 in every untapped region.

Tom-Toon just as a matter of interest which are the powerhouse countries and the untapped ones. Are we talking about places like Tierro Del fuego, Outer Mongolia, Pitcairn Islands and so on. I would really like to know and are there any players on your list of prospects from these places.

arsene may have a decent amount of scouts, but apparntly he relies massively on them scouts talking with agents and investigating good leads on players.
rather than them scouts going to every game they could travel to

I’m pretty sure the John Halls position is an honorary one that he has held for some time, he has no power what so ever. I don’t even think he gets paid a penny for it.

I am sure Mike Ashley is no ones fool, he did`nt amass a fortune without a knowledge of how a corporate system works and about hiring the best available people to run it.
Besides he does seem genuinely happy to be a part of ” The Toon”and what it represents to thousands of people, I hope he remains as an owner for the forseeable future.
A good scouting system for both youth and first team players is essential, I see the beginings of a recruitment of youth for the future, however its
become obvious the senior team needs a good clearance and new blood has to be injected if The Toon is going to be competative, this will of course have its cost, but to be a top six club will not come cheap and I would be dissapointed if Utd. were to settle for other teams disgards, Mr.Ashley go for the best!

Chuck, valid point and I agree with the sentiment of going for the best. Unfortunately MA isnt as smart as he is made out to be, otherwise how do you account for the manager fiasco??
If we are going for the best available, then what the hell is Keegan and his merry men doing there when Lippi, Hiedzfeldt, Mourinho were all available at the time?? Keegan isnt in the same league; he hasnt got the balls for it anymore. He will plod along, buy some good players (hopefully) but when it starts getting tough, he will do his normal walk.
Where will we be at that time? Back to square one, yet again.
