Reserve team coach Adam Sadler takes his Newcastle United Reserve team to Wigan Athletic tonight.

David Edgar - 20 year old Canadian captains Reserves tonight
The Reserves have been unbeaten in their last four games and include a number of our up and coming young players, so it’s always worth watching the youngsters to see how they are coming along.
Newcastle reserves are now looking for their first double of the season at Robin Park tonight (7pm KO), since they beat Wigan 3-1 at Kingston Park earlier in the season.
David Edgar will again captain the side and it turns out he’s the only player in the side with previous first team experience, having appeared 5 times for the senior side and scored that great gaol against Manchester United last year.
Sadler has picked the following side for tonight’s game:
Newcastle United Reserves: Fraser Forster, Callum Morris, Tamas Kadar, Mark Doninger, David Edgar, Ben Tozer, Jonny Godsmark, James Troisi, Ryan Donaldson, Wesley Ngo Baheng, James Marwood.
Subs: Darren Lough, Ole Soderberg, Alex Francis, Mark Bertram, Michael McCrudden.
Some of our new acquisitions, Kadar, Tozer and Baheng are all in the side. We wonder when 17 year-old 6′3″ Italian striker Fabio Zamblera will be given a run out. Fabio hasn’t played for a Newcastle side yet, since he signed last month.
Newcastle Reserves next home game is next Monday, March 3, when Everton are the visitors. The game is again at St. James’ Park (kick-off 7pm) and is a good chance for supporters to see out young up and coming players in action.
This is one of the few good things at Newcastle this season, our growing group of top class teenagers.
Comments welcome.

I too have wondered when Zamblera will get a run out…might be injured or something.
2 Ian // Feb 26, 2008 at 14:26
About time Edgar was back in the line up on Saturday not on the bench.

zambarella is intriguing to say the lease, why is there nothing being said about him not playing at all? i can only asume its an injury
4 milner fan // Feb 26, 2008 at 14:40
how about we swap the reserve squad with the first team squad. we might actaully get some points lol
5 Neil Flannery // Feb 26, 2008 at 14:41
Edgar looks composed he needs to get a game for the first team ahead of Steven ‘You don’t need to mark the striker when you can just jump about making blocks’ Taylor.

FOR FCKS SAKE. WE HAVE KNOW IDEA HOW GOOD THEY WILL BE SO DON’T PUT YOUR EXPECTATIONS SO HIGH.
7 mark // Feb 26, 2008 at 15:14
Im happy people are starting to see Taylor like, he is a right d1ck. Just runs around jumping into people or posts.
Also that shoddy piece of defending for Crissys 2nd, man utds 3rd, on saturday, wot the hell was he doing man?

This is becoming one very promising reserves team. Exciting stuff for the future - just a shame those who can make it to the matches don’t seem to bother. Went to one last year and it was an evening and a few quid very well spent.
9 Mr T // Feb 26, 2008 at 15:23
I think the expectation is we don’t want to get beaten 5-1 by anybody at home! WHich means the current lot aren’t good enough…. so why not give someone else a chance?!?!
10 Mr T // Feb 26, 2008 at 15:24
I like going to the reserve matches to, I go when I can, but I live with the Smog monsters and sometimes with work and time it ain’t all that easy. Maybe if I spent more time working and less time posting…..

I go to the reserve home games every now and again. I think I’ll probably start going more often seeing as our reserves look alright.
13 wozza // Feb 26, 2008 at 15:54
I would always go to the reserve matches, if I lived in Newcastle. I’m going to see the youth team face Sheffield Wednesday on Saturday. Hopefully there will be some geordies there!
14 Scott Hodge // Feb 26, 2008 at 15:57
Agree with Ian and Neil. Edgar should be given his chance ahead of Titus Taylor, he’s had his chance and hasnt really proved himself imo. Edgar has been outstanding for the reserves and is long overdue his chance to prove himself !!
15 Jonathan // Feb 26, 2008 at 16:01
Fabio Zambleras transfer to Newcastle isn’t complete yet. I think there were some papers Atalanta has not signed yet as far as I know…
16 Paul R // Feb 26, 2008 at 16:05
Cant say I agree with all this anti steve taylor stuff. Yes he has played poorly of late but hasnt every one ? and i think next season with a good solid experienced centre back next to him steve taylor can be a future england regular … oh and dont forget liverpool and arsenal and chelsea are said tro be keeping an eye on him !! Lets not loose another good young player. At the end of the day young players do make mistakes as he is still learning … lets not drive away another top player for peanuts !! Also I hope Lua Lua gets his chance in first team soon aswell We need Pace !!!!!
17 Davies // Feb 26, 2008 at 16:21
I know that this is completely unrelated, but has anybody heard anything about Oba?
Don’t know how bad the ankle injury was, but we could really use his pace at the moment. Screw Viduka.
18 ScottyT // Feb 26, 2008 at 16:26
agree paul .. yes taylor has been playing very poorly recently like everyone has and yes he did have an absolute nightmare of a game on satday his worst so performance so far us a think but after his performcances over the last few seasons hes surely been our best defender
what im trying to say is yes hes had some terrible games recently but just cause hes had a few very poor games doesnt mean hes as shite as yous are sayin on here .. i mean he wouldnt be u21 england captain if he was, im sure he’ll play well again in the future but atm all the defense is diabolical
19 Paul R // Feb 26, 2008 at 16:30
yeah i agree scotty t i think every one should lay off him we need him to stay he is most definately a nufc player for the next ten to fifteen years !! and he has saved us millions !!
20 Magpie Neil // Feb 26, 2008 at 16:37
Taylor is an average player, who got a lucky break because of the lack of quality defenders at our club last year.
Only Problem is the geordie faithful cant handle the truth.
He’s a bad player. Another ‘committed’ yet useless player and if he signs a massive contract in the summer I will cry.
Cant wait for these types of player to FU%! OFF. Bye Bye Shola, Taylor Carr Smith Butt etc etc….
21 Paul R // Feb 26, 2008 at 16:44
shola crap,, carr crap,, butt past it,, smith never the same player since the injury,, TAYLOR IS THE ENGLAND U21 CAPTAIN AND ONE OF THE BEST DEFENDERS OF HIS GENERATION HENCE THE REASON HE IS PLAYING THERE !!! Reaility check Neil the reason he looks bad at the mo is because everone else in the defence is dragging him down you put him in chelsea or liverpools team and he would look great !! we should stop slagging off our better players and he is one of them and thats not because he is a local lad shola is but i want rid of him !!!!!
22 GP // Feb 26, 2008 at 16:53
Put a top quality CB next to him and a decent midfield in front of him and Taylor will show his quality.
23 Magpie Neil // Feb 26, 2008 at 16:55
He has good experience because Roeder threw him in at the deep end. I admit he has good leadership qualities and those 2 reasons are why he is England U21 captain. Also Stuart Pearce believes the captain should always be at the back.
England U21 captain means nothing anyway. If he was any good he would be a regular in the senior england squad.
Just wake up and smell the coffee! Loser.
He made two massive errors in the Man U game which resulted in goals. He is a white titus bramble.
24 Shanghaitoon // Feb 26, 2008 at 17:00
Can we ask Adam Sadler to choose our first team please? He might just put a few of these youngsters in and give us a chance to stay up! do he and KK talk to each other? Are they watching the same players when KK attends a reserve game?
25 CRAIGG // Feb 26, 2008 at 17:32
Magpie neil last season reasons for our survival
Given
Taylor
Solano (Please come home)
Milner
Butt (Yes im waiting for the abuse)
Martins
Sibierski (Wish he had stayed instead of signing Viduka)
How many of these have been slated recently and i dont mean Butt(for obvious reasons) Solano or Sibierski as they have left but the others are outstanding and do not deserve the shit given on this blog by some of these fickle idiots
do you not wish you could see what these people thought a year or so ago i bet tom_toon was reaming over Milner and Magpie Neil wouldnt say anything bad about Taylor And how any toon fan can say we should get rid of Given because his kicking isnt great well it never has been but it aint stopped him virtually single handedly stopping the opposition from thumping us week after week for the last 11 years
god what is wrong with you.
26 Davies // Feb 26, 2008 at 17:45
No news on Oba then?
Taylor isn’t shit by the way. Sure there’s room for improvement, but there’s room for imnprovement in any player.
I’ve still yet to forgive him for the handball in the AZ Alkmaar first leg, but he’s got a lot of quality and a bright future at SJP.
And yes, please come home Nobby, you are sorely missed (try and bring Scotty back with you as well).
27 Paul R // Feb 26, 2008 at 18:10
Magpie Neil
Shut up u tart !! smell the coffee ?? i think u want to stop sniffing the glue mate !! he is a good player asked to play in one of the worst defences the premiership has ever seen and by the way the only reason he hasnt played for the full england team is because
TERRY FERDINAND CAMPBELL CARRAGHER (AT ONE TIME) ARE ALL MORE SENIOR PLAYERS THAN HIM AND ITS A POSITION YOU NEED LOTS OF EXPERIENCE IN TO PLAY INTERNATIONAL FOOTBALL AND HE IS STILL ONLY A YOUNG LAD - HE IS STILL ONLY LEARNING BUT HE IS A GREAT ASSET TO THE CLUB !! A FEW OFF GAMES DOESNT MEAN YOUR A BAD PLAYER !! AND THERE ARE A LOT MORE NUFC PLAYERS WHO HAVE HAD FAR MORE BAD DAYS AT THE OFFICE THAN HIM !!
28 CRAIGG // Feb 26, 2008 at 18:20
Paul R you forgot
Woodgate
King
Lescott
Upson
Dawson
Richards
Brown
Davies
Wheater
Taylor was called into the squad in the position england are most blessed and should have got his first cap but McClaren brought on Brown instead and we lost well done Stevo
29 Paul R // Feb 26, 2008 at 18:36
VERY TRUE BUT MY POINT STANDS TAYLOR IS A GOOD PLAYER AND A NUFC PLAYER FOR THE NEXT TEN TO FIFTEEN YEARS !! AND GOOD I SAY !!
30 Tripp // Feb 26, 2008 at 20:27
So Lua Lua isn’t playing in this match. I hope that means we’ll see him on the weekend.
31 Tom Cairns // Feb 26, 2008 at 20:59
i know taylor has the potential to be great but you must admit quite often it has nothing to do with his team mates, he just does really stupid stuff. like that attempted tackle on ronaldo when he was there first and just completely missed the ball and the player!
32 Andy1 // Feb 26, 2008 at 22:35
Disappointing that the unbeaten run has come to an end with a 2-0 defeat.
However, Wigan had an experienced team. Hagen, Granqvist, Skoko, Agahowa etc.
