Newcastle Relegation Watch

Even though Newcastle played really well yesterday we ended up with no points again and we lost ground on some of the teams below us in the league.

Kevin Keegan - 10 matches left

Bitrminhgam had the best win below us when they easily beat the new Carling Cup holders Tottenham Hotspur 4-1 at home. Sunderland could only manage a single point at bottom of the league Derby County, and Fulham were easily beaten at Craven Cottage 3-0 by Manchester United, and are now 9 points behind Newcastle and look doomed.

Wigan Athletic got a good draw at Manchester City and Reading got a surprising win at Middlesbrough, who remain close to the drop zone and just one point above Newcastle.

So two teams gained 3 points on us (Birmingham, Reading) and three teams (Sunderland, Wigan, Derby) gained a point. Bolton Wanderers who have 25 points and are 3 points behind Newcastle, were beaten fairly easily 3-1 by Liverpool today at home.

We can only hope that the good form shown by Newcastle United yesterday will be maintained through the rest of the season because if we keep playing like that, surely we’ll be able to get a few wins under our belts.

We’ll just have to keep the faith, as best as we can.

Hope we will beat the drop. It’s not something good to have early in the weekend.

Anyway, keep believing. We can beat the drop if we can beat ourselves.

The problem here is that players do lack the confidence and belief in the match as they keep fluffing the chance away. I hate to say this but we are in the real tough fight in order not to relegate.

Some things dont change, even though the manager and the backroom staff have had a mix up. Even the “Board” has had a shuffle. Has it made the slightest difference to our results????

My view before Blackburn was relegation is coming the Toon’s way. After yesterday’s performance I’ve changed my opinion. If they can keep up the level they will not go down. The problem is the Liverpool game could shatter the confidence completely so they must go there and perform well even if they lose. They need the confidence to remain high for the three big home games and the away matches at Spurs and WHU. If they can approach those five games with real confidence and repeat the style from yesterday’s game they will stay up.

with such efforts & some good luck we’ll definately win more games than we’d lose. But let’s get that 12 points between now and then.
