Injury Prone Trio Face Fitness Tests For Liverpool

March 7th, 2008 by Ed Harrison · 13 Comments

Probably the three players with the worst injury records at Newcastle, Emre, Mark Viduka and Stephen Carr will all be given late fitness tests before the very important game at at Liverpool tomorrow.

Emre, Viduka and Carr - injury prone trio

The three have been struggling for weeks and while Emre and Viduka can make an impact tomorrow if they are fit, we’re not sure why we would need Carr.

Maybe as an experienced substitute but once new defender Lamine Diatta is match fit he can play at center-back or right back and gives Kevin a lot more options in our defense.

Emre has a slight calf problem and apparently Viduka and Carr both have slight hamstring problems.

Steve Harper will be in goal again with Shay Given in Belgium consulting with a groin specialist in an attempt to get to the bottom of his chronic injury troubles of the last 18 months.

Here’s our current injury list according to PhysioRoom.com

Player Injury Return Date

M Viduka Hamstring Injury 8th Mar 08
Emre Calf Muscle Strain 8th Mar 08
S Carr Hamstring Injury 8th Mar 08
S Given Groin Strain no return date
T Krul Dislocated Shoulder no return date
P Ramage ACL Knee Injury 22nd Mar 08

We hope Emre and Viduka can both participate in the game tomorrow, but we’re not holding our breath.

Comments welcome.

keegan should say to Carr to find another club he shouldn’t be anywhere near our 1st team.

yep we could do with emre, the other 2 would be lucky 2 warm the bench if i was gaffer, which unfortunately isn’t the case, because i’d pick this team…

    ————Harper————

    Beye–Edgar(Cacapa)–Taylor–Enrique

    ————Faye————

    Milner—————Duff

    ————N’zog————

    —Carroll———Martins(Owen)

the bracketed ones would be dependant on form, none of this reputation crap.

tdt i understand why u would like to see edgar i thnk i would like to see him get a chance but the last thing we need is inexperience at the back if u was gonna play him i think i would play him with faye.
but this would be my team v liverpool.
    given
    beye cacapa faye enrique
    milner geremi butt emre nzogbia
    owen
i think we need to be more solid so i think i would play 5 in midfield with butt and geremi protecting the back four and if emre isnt fit then i would play duff on the left and zog in the middle
however i think the team is likely to be this
    given
    beye faye taylor enrique
    milner geremi butt duff
    owen smith

    you mean like this scott?

    ———-given————
    beye cacapa faye enrique
    ——geremi–butt——
    milner ——— nzogbia
    ———-emre———
    ———-owen———-

maybe but wouldnt that restrict are attacking, which will be the key if we are to win? i agree with what you say about edgar, but i think this would be a good plan…

    ————Harper————

    Beye–Faye–Taylor–Enrique

    ————Geremi————

    Milner—————Duff

    ————N’zog————

    ——Owen——Martins(sub 60mins - Carroll)

TDT i personally would go with your first team with edgar at cb and faye as a dm
in my opinion geremi would never be in the squad let alone the starting 11
