No surprises in the Newcastle line-up as Keegan makes just one change from the side which was beaten at home to Blackburn with Charles N’Zogbia as expected replacing Joey Barton.
Alan Smith continues to partner captain Michael Owen up front with N’Zogbia partnering Nicky Butt in the center of midfield. This is the team we expected Keegan to play with the subs being the expected ones of Forster, Cacapa, Geremi, Martins and Carroll.
It remains to be seen how long Keegan keeps faith in striker Smith, who has yet to score for the Magpies. 
Unfortunately Liverpool included both Torres and Gerrard for today’s game.
We had hoped both would be rested for the Inter Milan European Champions League tie in mid-week - no such luck.

No tactics for defense, it is manifestly so. Every time one of our players gets the ball in or about our own penalty area they launch it up front as a clearance whether or not we are in danger.
They need to build from the back because we are defending in numbers we are clearing the ball to no one and Liverpool pick it up and start another attack. Too much work for our defense, give a million monkeys a million years on a type writer, one should at least write a correctly spelt word. Defending in numbers is again another symptom of a lack of organisation.

Obafab2 - okay the first goal might have been bad luck, but it was not cleared clever, waiting to kick the ball agains the lags of Pennant so close to the goal.
But it all starts with having no game plan. What do the players need to do; they don’t seem to know what they should do so they kick the ball away and we start all over again cause every ball comes into the feet off a guy with a red shirt on.
And they have got the same amouht of players on the pitch. We need to start to pass the ball over the ground not hoofing the ball away into nowhere’s land. I really feel sorry for Owen, returning to Anfield, willing to prove something and then getting no delivery (not the first time this season) and all above no one close enough to him to support him whenever he finally gets half a descent ball.
KK = a tactical nerd who doesn’t know how to pick a team and who does not know hot to instruct the players to defend in a descent way.

Marty - he should just have protected the ball and let it run over our back line but no he needed to take a minimal risk, but the risk was big enough to concede a stupid goal. I don’t say he isn’t unlucky, but I think, no I’m sure that any defender with a bit of a brain would have handled that situation completely different.
It is going to be a very long 2nd half, that is for sure. In no 100 years I can see us make 2 goals, irt will take hours to make 1 if we continue this play.

The first goal was a fluke, Enrique did the right thing when he tried to clear for a throw in (if he’d put it out for a corner ppl would have slated him for that too - not Obafan who with hindsight have observed that a corner would have been a better option than the clearance). The knock-off from Pennant is a one-in-a-million. Very unfortunate to concede a goal 2 min from half time in that manner. Although we haven’t created a thing (apart from Fayes header) I think we held Liverpool at bay in a very stabile way - until the fluke goal.
Now I am afraid it will be yet another collapse, 6-0 or something.

Still no Martins up, what is he thinking now; we need to take a few risks now. We have to try to attack them in the 2nd half, from the start of it, but no let Owen do his work on his own. I’ve lost my faith in KK, mainly cause ,of his team selection that doesn’t change from SA his choices. Sam did not Concede this many goals in all the games in which he was in charge. Keegan does not learn, give us five more minutes and we will have conceded another. Look we have lost the game so put Martins ans see how he plays with Michael owen, experiment with the rest of this game. Our misery all started back in January;
1. SA got the sack without a replacement being lined up
2. KK is the new manager; I did not want him, but I also got carried away when he entered the stadium against Stoke.
3. KK starts with 0-0 against a very poor Bolton
4. Tough fixtures coming on, but we aren’t able to give 2 descent passes
5. KK does his thing cause he is the Messiah, but in fact he is draggin us into relegation. All his memories are fading away; if you ask me now about KK; I will not answer with great manager for us, no I will say that is the tactical loser that got us into relegation battle.
I HATE THAT SMITH, WHY OH WHY DO THEY LET HIM PLAY! I REALLY WONDER HOW THE OTHER PLAYERS FEEL AVBOUT THAT! IF NEXT WEEK HARPER IS SUSPENDED KK WILL PUT HIM BETWEEN THE POSTS. SO FRUSTRATING;

I agree with the black in the black and white, Every week we are thrashed not beaten 1 - 0 or 2- 0. We are being thrashed and I think the tactical adroitness of Benitez is on display here. This is what I have been arguing all season. This game is not one without intelligence. I understand managers have their own methods but to have no tactics is not acceptable.
TO hire a man who has not managed since 2004, watched a game since 2005 , who walked out on his past two jobs is unacceptable.

I really don’t see us getting out of this one. I think we’ll go down. It will break my heart and the thought of it makes mer sick but I just don’t see our players caring enough to get us out. I hope I’m wrong and some crucial points against the teams around us could save us…..but otherwise…..:(
