Newcastle United 25 year old midfield player Joey Barton appeared in court on Wednesday charged with assault occasioning actual bodily harm and affray.

Joey Barton - in Liverpool court today
As we all know Barton was arrested in the early hours of December 27, after a Boxing Day evening out with his friends and family.
Barton appeared at Liverpool Magistrates’ Court with his 19 year-old brother Andrew Barton, and Nadine Wilson, 27.
Andrew Barton, is also charged with assault occasioning actual bodily harm, and Wilson, faces charges of common assault and affray.
Both were arrested with Barton following a visit to a McDonald’s restaurant in the Liverpool city center at 5:00 am on Thursday morning, 27th December.
All three have again been bailed and will reappear at Liverpool Crown Court on April 23 and at that time there will be a plea and a case management hearing.
The wheels of justice certainly continue to turn so slowly. We just want to get his court cases out of the way and then see what his sentence will be in June.
This is hardly good publicity for Newcastle United.

Hope he gets banged up on April 23rd. My birthday. Oh what joy! Does this mean KK will continue to select him for the rest of the season? Can we sell him to Botany Bay Rowdies?

Lock him up. If he can’t play, Keegan can’t select him.

dusnt deserve to play for a great club like newcastle, dusnt even deserve to be paid or deserve to play football hes had enough chances we should have sacked the thug back in december.
and how is he our best midfielder hes fkin shite. his passing is abysmal hes got no pace he always risks getting sent off every game. emre gotta be our best cm and then id have even butt and geremi over this thug.

if he does get banged up, i hope it doesnt happen till the season end, we need all the players we can get. if he can put some more thru balls in like he did against blackburn he could help the team no end

I thought Barton wasn’t allowed in Liverpool, so how did he go to court?..
14 Leo // Mar 12, 2008 at 19:56
the legal system is a sham. haha only joking. bail conditions im sure do not take going to the city as a breach, as he is visiting the court room. as long as he doesnt visit a maccie dees on the way home

if he can regain his form in man city and put his legal troubles behind, he could be a pretty gd player.
