Big Sam Allardyce, who we thought would be almost the perfect manager for Newcastle, when he signed last May, has today backed his former club with some good words.

Sam Allardyce - lasted just 8 months as Newcastle Manager
The former Bolton Wanderers coach lasted eight months in charge at St. James’ Park (May 15th 2007 - January 9th, 2008) before being replaced eventually by Kevin Keegan.
Sam has admitted he was at one time a little bitter about his ordeal in the North-East (and that’s what it was), he also thinks the Tyneside club would do well to settle on a manager for the long term.
Sam talked today to the Times,
“Newcastle are destined to be a great club down the line.”
“But the longer it goes without success the harder it is to achieve it and they can’t do it by changing managers all the time.”
“I’ve no real bitterness over my departure anymore. I’ve moved on.”
Sam then suggested that a some stability and permanance would have done the team no harm in their quest for survival this season.
“We were finding a way of playing, having changed everything behind the scenes,”
“The players were still learning to blend. It was a question of patience.”
“It is like building the Empire State Building in a month. It can’t be done.”
We honestly think in retrospect that Big Sam was given a raw deal at the club. When you appoint a manager he should be given a minimum of one season to work through things. We’d certainly not be where we are now if Sam had stayed.
That’s because the team has a different way of playing - for the third time in 9 months. We went from Glennn Roeder’s style, to Sam’s style, and now to Kevin Keegan’s style. In truth of course, most Newcastle fans like Keegan’s style, but it may be very costly, if we cannot avoid relegation this season.
The last thing Newcastle United any time soon is another manager.
Give Kevin a chance whatever happens this season.
To Mike Ashley and Chris Mort we would would say what our mother, now deceased, used to tell us - you’ve made your bed, now lie in it!
You cannot keep swapping and changing things and expect stability - and what you sow you will reap - whether you like it or not.
So hey, we fully agree with Big Sam on that one. But really good words from Sam about our club, and we appreciate that.
And we’ve learned through living life for quite a while
that it just doesn’t work to hold grudges.
Why ? Because it hurts you more than anybody else - isn’t that the truth.
Comments welcome.

It seems to me that the majority of our ex-managers - bar Gullit - usually have nothing but good words for the club and it’s fans. Even Souness said while it wasn’t the biggest club he managed it was probably the most unqiue. Anyway, I can’t fault anything Allardyce said there and I think we all know that Allardyce was never right for this club, we’ve never kept a manager who never tried to play football long, but good luck to him in the future.

Sorry but I really don’t give a brass farthing what BSA thinks about Newcastle . He really made us into a Bolton Second XI , and if anybody thinks different then , they should just look at how long it will take KK to get us playing football along the deck again . We did not have a midfield when Sam was here he got the defence to boot it straight forward aver the head of our middle fower.
And what’s that glass thing he’s carrying the longest throw award 3 seasons runnning do me a favour don’t show yer heed in SJP ever again that would be nice .
Right let’s see if we can clear up the mess you left …ye tw*t !
Cheers for the airplay hope I wisna too offensive . Lets stuff the brummies !
3 dragoner // Mar 16, 2008 at 20:41
of course toonbully, because we were a good team before allardyce came werent we?…NO! get real & stop looking to blame people. This club is in a mess because for DECADES idiots have made idiotic decisions, simple.
that includes kk decision to get rid of the reserves

sam should never have been sacked he would have turned us around hes a great manager people say he plays boring football and its all long ball he only did that at bolton he did the best with what he got and when he was with us he didnt have the players to play great football there was no real creativity in the team you cant get players to pass the ball about when them players are not comfortable with passing the ball about like we wanted the first thing on sams mind was results ok we didnt win every game but we were sitting in mid table and thats were we would have finished maybe even further up if he had got the players in just to think he had diarra coming in what a diifference he would have made managers need time and sam didnt get that he was treated unfairly no matter what anyone says.
you telling me we played boring football in these games when we had everyone fit
bolton 3-1
tottenham 3-1
west ham 3-1
wigan 1-0
everton 3-2
birmingham 2-1
man city 0-2 we may have lost but i was at the game and we should have hammered them.
arsenal 1-0
chelsea lost 2-1 but we still played well
if sam was still manager he woudld have broughtt some great players to the club like he did at bolton once he had a solid teame.g jay jay okocha stelios diouf anelka campo guerkuff

Sam can afford to be magnanimous about the Toon. He copped £6M for 6 months work. Not bad if you can get it!!!! NUFC mugged again.
Another thing Ed, if KK relegates NUFC ( and the odds must be decent if he keeps picking Barton Butt and SMITH in particular) don’t tell me we should stick with the manager. MA brought KK into the club to improve things … not get us relegated. The only reasom MA may stick with Kevin if we get relegated would be because he would look a muppet to sack him when he appointed him in January. But look at it another way Ed, do you think MA would keep kevin with the same run of results and eventual relegation if KK was not MA’s choice and KK was in post when Ashley took over the club? No way. That is why MA should bite the bullett and look a muppet, for the sake of NUFC, and sack keegan if we get relegated. He may even do it if we lose to Fulham.
6 dragoner // Mar 16, 2008 at 20:52
scott9 we didnt beat arsenal and yes most of those results you mentioned we played bad, boring football, which i was very against. I also disagree with you about sam being a “great” manager, he is a decent manager but is only seen as “great” in comparison to most english managers as most are utter crap. however, i also feel sacking sam in january was dumb, no manager should get sacked at such a key moment in time, esecially when it was obvious we needed to strengthen our team.
7 toonhitman // Mar 16, 2008 at 20:58
we are a sleeping giant just got a bunch of clowns running and playing for the club
8 daiv // Mar 16, 2008 at 20:58
Another thing Ed,
I am sick to the back teeth of managers, ex managers, players and explayers that NUFC is a sleepinh giant and destined for great things. heard it for 45 years. At some poiny, maybe after 30 years, you come to realize that they are all talking bollocks. The younger bloggers are new to the game and are no doubT avid readers of this nonsense as I used to be. Not won the league since 1927. Massive and loyal support with money in the bank but not a massive club. For that you need to win something at least now and again. LAST LEAGUE WIN 82 years ago and no prospect of winning the league in my lifetime.

sack the messiah daiv? is he to blame for the mess in messiah? i was a big sam fan and thought he would do well for the toon. he bought poorly, but we dont know how much coin he had from ashley. as for keegan he doesnt seem to be able to make the big decisions in the interest of the toon. why the hell is smith still starting. the problem was ashley wanted the romantic reunion in the hope of appeasing the geordie faithful. appointing keegan was wrong, i would have loved to have seen deschamps in charge, tactically astute and with proven pedigree. yes ashley has paid of our debts, but in the time hes been in charge weve regressed quite considerably. its not the toon manager which should be debated or up for question, but tweedle dumb and tweedle dee who are running us
10 daiv // Mar 16, 2008 at 21:12
Whitey,
sam bought poorly except Beye but the team should not be where it is. Keegan selects the worst players (Butt Smith Barton) based on reputation and not form. The Messiah was my hero 10 years ago but is clearly past it. Blind faith is stupid. KK is in the canoe without a paddle going towards the cliff edge and is clueless how to stop the canoe going off the edge. MA and Mort are not football people. They sacked sam in January without a replacement lined up. Stupid. They chose KK who has not been in football for 3 years and won nothing. His last posting at City was a failure in the end. Would they have appointed a guy to run their Sports Direct business in similar circumstances? No way. Its all hit and miss.
11 dragoner // Mar 16, 2008 at 21:15
one good thing about the horrible mess that was the january transfer is the fact that mike ashley spending no cash clearly shows we are clearing out BIG TIME in the summer. if i were doing a clearout it would be pointless buying in january, january is for strengthening
12 Graham // Mar 16, 2008 at 21:17
Not quite good words, just not slagging us off for the first time since he was peddled.
And Ed, If I had just pumped £250m of my own cash into something I’d want to have my own man running the thing - not some egotistical balloon employed by a fat waster of a predecessor…….
13 daiv // Mar 16, 2008 at 21:18
Ed
Why are so many fans Keegan admirers. He left us in the lurch without any explanation. We won 7 1 against Spurs and were 4 points off the top and he walked out. No explanation. No wonder Shearer is cheesed off with him. KK got him to NUFC and walked out on Alan soon afterwards. I bet Alan was promised all sorts to get him here. Then a few years later, KK is interviewed and says ther is no way he would return as manager to NUFC. Pardon me!! Well he has come back. he has some “unfinished business.” Relegation by any chance.
14 Graham // Mar 16, 2008 at 21:19
BTW, I watched the Lemington Labour Club V Blutcher Social club cup final today and witnessed better football on a windy bumpy pitch than I ever saw whilst Allardyce was in charge - some proper tackles as well!
15 dragoner // Mar 16, 2008 at 21:21
Beye, Enrique and Faye were all good signings.
You cant blame sam for buying rozehnal, he was PSG’s player of the season last yr and great in France. Geremi was a good utility player for chelsea, Cacapa had been great for Lyon over the years and was probably needed for experience. All of these players have been described as “poor buys” but who would have known they would come to the Toon and disappoint? (although i feel cacapa is much better than he is given credit for) We should judge Sam’s buys on the reasons for buying each player.
The trully awful signing sam made were Smith, Barton, I ony say Barton because of the excess baggage he brings. These are awful because there is trully no good reason why we bought these two players.
16 Leo // Mar 16, 2008 at 21:22
how could he ever be bitter, with all that money deposited into his bank. he could get his job back at bolton next season when they are in the championship and bring them back up, then be a legend with them once again
17 GP // Mar 16, 2008 at 21:25
They’re new to this football ownership stuff to be fair, and it’s not like Man City where the basic infrastructure is already there, up here it’s trying to repair 10 years of mismanagement in the boardroom within one season. It can’t be done, we just have to accept we have to wait even longer for a trophy. The only fear I have is that the fans won’t accept that we’re not capable of winning and call for the managers head as usually happens. Bloody hell it’s hard to support this club but I wouldn’t swap it for anything in the world.
18 ScottyT // Mar 16, 2008 at 21:26
scott9 wigan 1-0 was awful we were lucky to win and yes the football was crap, birmingham 2-1 was agen crap and agen lucky to win both late goals. villa 0-0 was a very lucky draw some great saves from our keeper, ,man c away was awful defending and agen crap, derby at home and away terrible, reading away shite, wigan away shite, sunderland away pathetic, liverpool home most pathetic game and tactics ever, portsmouth home pathetic, stoke 0-0 away pathetic lucky for a draw
so if am being honest i deent giv 2 fks about sams comments his results, tactics, style and performances deserved a sacking. we were a second rate bolton side who tbh were lucky to get the amount of points we did.
agree that the amount of times we have changed our style of play recently isnt good for the team but for this only fat fred is to blame.
everyone knew that when glenn roeder was doin well that he wouldnt be as good when full time manager or at least i did (havnt a bad word to say abput roeder mind did his best for the club). sams style was my problem and in the end it still was. our managerial appointments have been awful whether you include keegan in that is left to be seen..
19 dragoner // Mar 16, 2008 at 21:28
i do not care much for a trophy, i can accept we might not win a trophy for ages, i just want us to have a good structure to build around and play some good football…oh yeah, and not be a laughing stock for once
20 ScottyT // Mar 16, 2008 at 21:30
oh yeah and the signings i forgot bout that smith is the biggest waste of 6m ever only beaten by the amount of money we paid for thuggy barton. hes an idiot honestly he would have had us signing other shitty overpriced nobodys who dont add anything to the team but boredom.
21 richie // Mar 16, 2008 at 21:33
most of our signings bad ,iv a feeling barton may have a performance in him at brum tho
22 Whitt // Mar 16, 2008 at 21:34
not sure how anyone could say we would definitely not be in this mess if we hadn’t sacked Sam…
under sam we had:
lost away and drawn home to Derby
lost to Reading
1-4 home to Pompey
0-3 home to Liverpool
and he had just presided over 0-0 to STOKE, and seemed happy about a performance where we didn’t threaten a championship side.
he still had to preside over the same string of fixtures:
Arsenal twice
Man U twice
Away to Villa
Away to Liverpool
Away to Middlesbrough
Home to Bolton and Blackburn
and the performances were getting steadily worse under him. no signs of easily avoiding relegation there…
23 dragoner // Mar 16, 2008 at 21:39
DRAWING WITH STOKE AWAY IS NOT AS BAD AS PEOPLE ON HERE SAY FOR *** SAKE! LOOK HOW GOOD THE UNDERDOGS HAVE BEEN IN THE FA CUP THIS YR, LOOK WHO IS LEFT IN THE COMPETITION! IF DRAWING WITH STOKE AWAY IS BAD THEN RAFA SHOULD GET SACKED FOR LOSING AT HOME TO ANFIELD! BUT NO, THE FANS STICK BEHIND HIM. IF THAT WERE NEWCASTLE HE WOULD BE SACKED THE NEXT DAY, PATHETIC!

27 dragoner // Mar 16, 2008 at 21:43
“and he had just presided over 0-0 to STOKE, and seemed happy about a performance where we didn’t threaten a championship side”
that is a poor comment, we did threaten them and a draw with a championship team away is not that bad, look who is left in the FA Cup competition.
28 Todd // Mar 16, 2008 at 21:55
I don’t agree with those comments that we wouldn’t be in this situation if BSA was still here. Truth is, we just don’t know. He didn’t get fired because the team was playing well. He would play scared against teams like Derby - in my opinion he had to go.
I’m glad it seems he’s finally put his bitterness behind him, and will stop trashing the club. That’s probably the only way he will find work elsewhere, as well.

30 CRAIGG // Mar 16, 2008 at 22:26
Dragoner check man Utds scouts they are mostly English (British)
What is this myth that foreign managers are better than English ones ?
try foreign managers get more opportunities than english managers
If a Manager in Spain had done what Steve Coppell did at reading last season he would be manager of Barcelona, Real Madrid or Valencia
Or even What Sam did at bolton, he also had a geat record with his previous clubs, Compared to Ramos 11 clubs and only lasted a full season at 4.
He flukily kept getting chances and a bought couple of trophys at Sevilla and now he is a top class coach at spurs, and what we lack apparently.
Or even what Redknapp has done at pompey or Curbishley did at Charlton
The thing people never mention is most of the top managers dont win trophies until they get to a top side with money and better players Mourinho or Benitez for example, And the opportunities abroad are there for their homegrown managers but not over here because of people like you who think the only talented coaches and players speak broken english.
I will guarantee that if an English or British manager (O’Neill or Venables for example) took over liverpool after houllier with a squad containing Gerrard, Carragher, Owen, Finnan, Riise, Hyypia, Kewell, Cisse, Kirkland, Baros and Heskey then they would be closer to the title than they are under benitez.
31 dragoner // Mar 16, 2008 at 22:33
mostly being the keyword Craigg, everyone knows to sign top foreign talent you need foreign scouting staff, it is a no brainer. I wnder what scout found ronaldo, foreign or british? i could have a pretty good guess. Anyway Mourinho is not good examples of your ‘point’ as he achieved greatness at porto
32 dragoner // Mar 16, 2008 at 22:34
i also do not rate benitez so i will not argue with you on that point
33 dragoner // Mar 16, 2008 at 22:36
Alex Ferguson is British and he is one of the best, i give credit where it is due, thats all
34 CRAIGG // Mar 16, 2008 at 22:39
My point about Mourinho is he went to Porto with a decent rep but no tropies as a manager he got the top job in portugal with the best players and the most money
Could you see redknapp getting the chelsea job at the End of the season even if pompey finished top 4 and won the FA Cup ?
My point is that if we never see English managers in the top jobs how can we say they arent good enough.
35 Tom_Toon // Mar 16, 2008 at 22:40
Who cares what Fat Sham says, hes still a tit.
36 CRAIGG // Mar 16, 2008 at 22:43
We have Jeff Vetere, Tony Jiminez and didnt we sign an overseas scout the other day??
But we still have to keep looking around the local area for the next Shearer, Gazza, Beardo, Waddle, Bruce, Carrick or Robson and the rest of the UK for the next Rooney, Terry, Gerrard, Giggs, Given Etc. So there is a point in having English and British Scouts also
37 dragoner // Mar 16, 2008 at 22:43
you can hardly compare porto to chelsea, yes it is one of the top jobs in portugal but their aren’t many top teams in that league. Premier League is of much higher quality and a lot more money is spent over here to be taking risks on English managers who haven’t achieved enough, therefore the reputation of English managers is not good and they wont get offered the top jobs. Think if you were the owner, would you take a risk on a english manager when foreign managers generally have more success and bring in some top foreign talent? you would go after the best person for the job wouldnt you
38 dragoner // Mar 16, 2008 at 22:45
maybe u misunderstand my point, i do not mean i dont want any british, but i feel we need just as many foreign scouts as english, it is about maximising the amount of knowledge the scouting team has. A scout from portugal is going to know more about the players over there than an italian scout etc
39 dragoner // Mar 16, 2008 at 22:47
i dont think we have signed a scout yet, but we are going to sign one
So Craigg it doesnt alarm you that our scouting team (from what i have read) is all british?
40 CRAIGG // Mar 16, 2008 at 22:48
I wish Big Sam had got a better job than the one he had here because he was never going to get the five years he wanted and we dont do the long ball game in the toon.
Because what he did with Bolton, Notts County or Limerick were much more impressive than ramos’ record pre-sevilla eclipses anything this Marcelino fella has done in spain
41 richie // Mar 16, 2008 at 22:49
anyone have a probable brum team ,, see what were up against
42 dragoner // Mar 16, 2008 at 22:53
birmingham signed zarate and sunderland signed prica, these two players are good prospects and have a good future…why do we continuously miss out on these opportunites? tottenham signing taarabt is another example and there are plenty more, i believe once we have more foreign scouts we will get players like this
43 CRAIGG // Mar 16, 2008 at 22:55
I thought that Vetere was mr foreign football and isnt Jiminexz the big cheese in la liga
Yes maybe it is alarming that we have all british scouts but KK must trust them and that doesnt mean they know nowt about foreign football because the found us Asprilla, Ginola and Albert last time round and the people he had at City relatively unknown quantities like Benarbia and Sibierski
44 dragoner // Mar 16, 2008 at 22:55
The players we need to be wary of:
zarate, kapo, muamba, forssell, larsson, mcsheffrey, mcfadden…all of these players add a significant amount to birminghams attack
Birmingham have a lot of quality
45 CRAIGG // Mar 16, 2008 at 22:57
Dragoner we have Kadar, Baheng, Zamblera and Krul who are all fine prospects from abroad and i think Spuds would swap Tarrabt for N’Zogbia or Martins

forsell and mcsherrey are shocking, a lot of brum fans hate them, especially mcsheffery.

47 dragoner // Mar 16, 2008 at 23:00
Craigg i do not think they would swap taraabt for zoggy or Martins, taraabt is what we all want zoggy to become, ultra skillful and confident, if he played as many games as n’zogbia i think he would be 3 times the player zoggy is. and i do not think spurs need another strike right now
48 CJ // Mar 16, 2008 at 23:01

yeah prica was a bad example of youth, but again a good talent
50 dragoner // Mar 16, 2008 at 23:03
forsell is in good form right now and mcsheffrey seems to play quite well against us, based on his performances this season and last
51 CRAIGG // Mar 16, 2008 at 23:03
The players they need to be wary of are N’Zog, Oba, Viduka, Barton (If his finger isnt permanantly up his arse), Owen and Duff if they fancy rolling back a few years
Harper
Beye Taylor Faye Enrique
Barton Butt N’Zogbia Duff
Owen Viduka
That is the side i would expect, Diata will get a chance in the coming weeks as Taylor needs a rest definately, maybe until next season to re find his form.
As long as Smith doesnt start im happyish although i would rather Barton move inside and Lua Lua or even my nemesis Geremi play wide right than Butt play at all.
52 dragoner // Mar 16, 2008 at 23:04

59 CRAIGG // Mar 16, 2008 at 23:09

64 CRAIGG // Mar 16, 2008 at 23:13

zarate is class, we should hijack him from birmingham if they get relegated lol
66 Tom_Toon // Mar 16, 2008 at 23:16
Zarate turned us and Liverpool down to sign for Brum, mainly because he already agreed to sign with them in principle.
Id trade Taarabt for any of our players in our squad.
67 dragoner // Mar 16, 2008 at 23:16
Huddlestone is NOT shite, he is a class english player, great defensively, good vision and good long distance shot, his only downfall is he is too slow. Zokora is also a good player who can play in a variety of positions. Boateng was good in germany but i dunno about over here, he shows glimpses of being a good player but then he makes a dumb mistake, much like kaboul.
68 Tom_Toon // Mar 16, 2008 at 23:18
Kaboul was quality in France, i wanted us to sign him, glad we didnt now, although i recon he’ll come good with adaptation.
69 dragoner // Mar 16, 2008 at 23:18
i knew you would agree with me about taraabt tom toon, i dont think many people on here like him, also Craigg his english might not be too great yet and that is why he doesnt play much, tainio is not really the same kind of player and he is used by tottenham because of his workrate and gutsy approach to the game

73 CRAIGG // Mar 16, 2008 at 23:22
Tom_Toon for once me and Dragoner were having a nice non-bitchy debate on players and coaches and you ruin it with that silly statement about Taraabt
You would Swap:
Emre
N’Zogbia
Milner
Beye
Faye
Taylor (Although out of form)
Given
Owen
Martins
Enrique
Carroll
Lua Lua
I think that all those players are better in their respective positions or potentially better than Taraabt is.
Like i said why would they persist with the crap they have in the midfield for the past 2 seasons if this guy is so great, He may be a fine talent but that is a way over the top statement.
74 Tom_Toon // Mar 16, 2008 at 23:24
Id trade him for any one of those players anyday. They dont play him that much because he is too young and immature at the moment, but the raw talent he has is immense.
75 CRAIGG // Mar 16, 2008 at 23:24
OK Huddlestone is not shite but i dont think he will ever be a first choice at Spurs
76 dragoner // Mar 16, 2008 at 23:25
Craigg Tottenhams midfield is far from crap, apart from Tainio the players you named are good players. And like i said Tainio is used in different situations to when taraabt would be used. Plus he is young and his English might not be good. Or maybe they are just doing an Arsene Wenger and slowly easing him into the first team. Boateng doesn’t play anymore so he doesn’t count
77 Tom_Toon // Mar 16, 2008 at 23:25
He’d be first choice here with our woeful midfield.
78 richie // Mar 16, 2008 at 23:25
we should approach sebastion larsson before the game about signing for us!!!!!
79 dragoner // Mar 16, 2008 at 23:26
i disagree Craigg, i think he will be first team within 2 years, if another club dont come and buy him that is
80 CRAIGG // Mar 16, 2008 at 23:26
Like Cherno Sambas raw talent or Hogan Ephraim or Some of ours Cort, Bramble, Bridges, Viana heard it all before.
81 CRAIGG // Mar 16, 2008 at 23:28
I dont think huddlestone will ever be first choice he will be a versatile squad player like tainio as you said has played DM, AM, Left wing, Right wing, RB, LB
82 Tom_Toon // Mar 16, 2008 at 23:29
Ye and Ronaldo when he first came to Manure. You live in the past craigg, all this, KK saved us etc. We live in the present.
83 CRAIGG // Mar 16, 2008 at 23:30
Tom_Toon Huddlestone would be first choice here but only because Barton has never reached his top level otherwise Barton and Emre would be our first choice pairing.
84 Leo // Mar 16, 2008 at 23:31
if tarabet only gets 10mins a month no wonder he can get around people and run quick and have good skills…
all that pent up energy.
nzogbia is much better than him!!!
85 dragoner // Mar 16, 2008 at 23:32
personally craigg i feel huddlestone will replace zokora as a first teamer
86 Leo // Mar 16, 2008 at 23:32
i dont think tom huddllestone is that slow. he just looks lazy when running, buthe is quick… its his style of running, looks very uneasy.
87 dragoner // Mar 16, 2008 at 23:33
Leo zoggy is not much better, you said he has all the energy, what about match fitness? surely the more games you get the better you become…
88 CRAIGG // Mar 16, 2008 at 23:33
We live in the present do we ??
Where the hell was that about KK dickhead my point is that there are great talents that are disgarded every season, and Ronaldo came straight into man Utds first team so find another example
89 richie // Mar 16, 2008 at 23:33
his presence in midfield alone would help us and i still think centre of the field is prob our biggest problem no protection for defence,,,no service for strikers,no presence,, we need a tall commanding mdfielder,,even pluck one from the reserves if we have !
90 dragoner // Mar 16, 2008 at 23:34
no i think he is just slow lol
91 Tom_Toon // Mar 16, 2008 at 23:35
I dont need to find another example, the fact is he had raw talent and progressed into a great player. ‘Dickhead’
92 CRAIGG // Mar 16, 2008 at 23:36
Well dragoner that is your opinion but i think that neither Zokora and Huddlestone will be first choice and Ramos will bring in a new partner for Jenas.
93 dragoner // Mar 16, 2008 at 23:36
people who believe zoggy is better than taraabt will eat their words as soon as he plays 90minutes for spurs as he is already better than zoggy and has the potential to be one of the best tricky midfielders in the premiership, and i mean that
94 dragoner // Mar 16, 2008 at 23:37
well if that is the case craigg then we should promise him first team football and steal him from them lol
95 CRAIGG // Mar 16, 2008 at 23:37
Yes and my point was that Taraabt has raw talent and might not progress into a great player like plenty of others with raw talent havent
Dickhead
96 Tom_Toon // Mar 16, 2008 at 23:38
Ronaldo is proof that he can.
97 CRAIGG // Mar 16, 2008 at 23:40
Dragoner that is an option but i think Carrick and Emre would be an amazing CM partnership (Even though its not going to happen)
98 CRAIGG // Mar 16, 2008 at 23:41
And Viana is proof the he can go the other way
99 CJ // Mar 16, 2008 at 23:41
He is not getting a game ahead of O’hara he is so good if Taarbt is a creative midfielder that is exactly what we need but someone of a better quality.
100 dragoner // Mar 16, 2008 at 23:45
Like i keep saying, it could be down to his english, ohara is going to get more games because he is a harder worker and more versatile, he can play the whole of midfield and left back, honestly, CJ i do not know how you can say “someone of better quality” when talking about taraabt, he is an exceptionally good player and we would be lucky to get him. You will all see it when he gets first team football
101 dragoner // Mar 16, 2008 at 23:46
Craigg what do you think of Derbyshire?
We should try and get him while he is warming the blackburn bench, offer him first team and he should come
102 CJ // Mar 16, 2008 at 23:47
Let’s be realistic he doesn’t just not get a game most games he does NOT even make the bench. If he was so good the manager and coaches who train him would at least put him on the bench instead of Boateng Tainio Zokora and O’hara all being picked ahead of him nearly every game.
103 dragoner // Mar 16, 2008 at 23:47
you too tom toon, what you think of derbyshire?
104 CJ // Mar 16, 2008 at 23:49
100% agree about Derbyshire runs the line perfectly and is possibly the best finisher in the prem he only needs 1 chance just look at him against us come on as a sub get’s 1 chance and scores as Owen should have had a hatrick.
105 Tom_Toon // Mar 16, 2008 at 23:49
Hes allright, a fairly mediocre to good striker, probably wouldnt start with our strikers, not much of a speciality to him, i.e. not prticularly quick, skillful etc, although he finishing is quite good.
106 dragoner // Mar 16, 2008 at 23:50
this is the last time i am saying it, his english may not be good, plus aaron lennon is currently better than him and is only really taken off when tottenham want to be more defensive. e.g. today huddlestone came on for him. This is why tainio etc will be ahead of taraabt
107 CRAIGG // Mar 16, 2008 at 23:50
To be fair with Dragoner on this one O’Hara is left footed and Spurs have a lack of leftys.
Bale is injured and would play wide left and Gardner could play left back (On loan at everton) So O’Hara is the only lefty available to them so he probs gets more chances due to being able to put a cross in first time and not check back.
108 Tom_Toon // Mar 16, 2008 at 23:52
Bale, now that is an immense youngster with talent, not just raw talent at his young age.
109 dragoner // Mar 16, 2008 at 23:52
im not going to defend taraabt anymore, i will let his talent speak for him, as soon as he gets more games i will raise this issue again and see if the people who doubt him still feel the same way
110 CRAIGG // Mar 16, 2008 at 23:54
Dragoner i love matt derbyshire every time he has the ball you think he will score, reminds me of a young michael owen. Such a cool finisher, never misses a one-on-one.
What do you think of Gary Cahill has that boy got class or what.
111 dragoner // Mar 16, 2008 at 23:54
Cahill is another player who just turned good out of nowhere, would be good to get if bolton go down
112 CRAIGG // Mar 16, 2008 at 23:56
Tom_Toon, agreed i think Bale is a real gem and we should have made a bigger effort to sign him from southampton
113 dragoner // Mar 16, 2008 at 23:57
Craigg you when talking about gardner you forgot to say he is total SHITE! now that is one player i KNOW tottenham fans hate lol
114 dragoner // Mar 16, 2008 at 23:58
Gardner is tottenhams equivalent to carr, even when he plays well everyone still says he is shit because everyone knows he will not be able to maintain his good form
115 Tom_Toon // Mar 16, 2008 at 23:59
Andrew Surman looks quite good aswell, not to the extent Bale did though.
116 CRAIGG // Mar 17, 2008 at 0:00
I saw Cahill first time with that overhead while at villa against birmingham and he just disapeared until Sheff Utd had him on loan and as i watch a lot of Championship games he just was immense and he has been amazing for Bolton up to now as well.
If they go down and we stay up he is my absolute first choice for the summer.
117 richie // Mar 17, 2008 at 0:02
what do u make of noble?i reckon we could take him from west ham
118 CJ // Mar 17, 2008 at 0:02
Gareth Bale is a very good young player but has been as injury prone as Bellamy or Dyer quality player but prob all ready suffering from burnout cos he was playing for Southampton when he was a kid and he still is a kid in my opinion he is nowhere near physical to be a top LB he could be a great on the LW.
119 CRAIGG // Mar 17, 2008 at 0:03
Yep gardner is utter shite i was just making the point about Tottenhams lack of left footed players.
Tom_Toon i think Surman has a great left foot but just doesnt have that burst of pace like bale has and doesnt do it as a winger for me maybe as an Emre type CM
120 dragoner // Mar 17, 2008 at 0:03
These are the players i feel we could sign if their teams go down and they are cheap:
Birmingham:
Kapo
Zarate
Bolton:
Cahill
Sunderland:
Jones
Prica
Derby:
Barnes
Miller
Fulhan:
Bullard
Dempsey
Not all of them obviously, just a pick out of some those
121 richie // Mar 17, 2008 at 0:04
yes rate cahill, giles barnes should b bought for the future, kevin nolan perhaps too if they go down
122 CRAIGG // Mar 17, 2008 at 0:05
CJ i dont think he is strong enough to play LB either but id hate to see a spurs team sheet with Bale and Lennon as the wingers
123 richie // Mar 17, 2008 at 0:06
owen garven is a young midfielder from ipswich iv mentioned before,,,anyone know/rate him?
124 dragoner // Mar 17, 2008 at 0:06
NOLAN!? Please no!
125 CRAIGG // Mar 17, 2008 at 0:06
Maybe Diouf as much as i dislike him or Matty Taylor from Bolton also
126 dragoner // Mar 17, 2008 at 0:08
nah i dont know him richie, what sort of player?
127 CRAIGG // Mar 17, 2008 at 0:09
Haynes and Garvan are great young players at ipswich and how about howard from barnsley, Everton linked a lot and they dont make many mistakes when signing players that have played most of their careers in that league Lescott, Jagielka, Johnson and Cahill for example.
128 CRAIGG // Mar 17, 2008 at 0:11
Tim Cahill not my Beloved Gary Cahill that is
129 richie // Mar 17, 2008 at 0:11
yes nolan perhaps isnt better than what we got but trust me this garven chap will be playing in the premiership sooner rather than later, hes just gone 18 i think and an ipswich regular and rated very highly rated toung irish player,, great composure passer etc
130 dragoner // Mar 17, 2008 at 0:12
Oh yeah, what is going on with this young striker we are trying to sign for 250k???
131 CRAIGG // Mar 17, 2008 at 0:12
I think Kevin Nolan was the reason Sam was sacked and i cant see him being a KK player
132 Tom_Toon // Mar 17, 2008 at 0:14
Amine Chermiti, enough said.
Click my name.
133 richie // Mar 17, 2008 at 0:15
garven comes off the conveyer belt of home farm fc dublin ireland who produced richard dunne, was playin ipswich first team since he was 17, when big sam was in charge i read an article saying newcastle were watching him
hes a carrick type player i suppose, very composed great passer and plays with an older head
he played for ire u21 v eng u21 and looked really good against the likes of noble
134 CRAIGG // Mar 17, 2008 at 0:16
I know this will sound daft but Pearson from derby has been their best player all season in the holding role and is pretty versatile maybe a cheap and cheerful squad player to back up Carrick (Please god), Emre and Jailbird as we will never find a buyer for the little runt.
135 dragoner // Mar 17, 2008 at 0:20
well rich you sound like you know a lot about him, he sounds good and i hope we do sign him if he is anything like carrick
136 richie // Mar 17, 2008 at 0:22
garven jus turned 20 actaully lets get him before everton do…similarities to stevie g too altho its early days!!
137 dragoner // Mar 17, 2008 at 0:23
tom toon where is chermiti from? egypt?
138 CRAIGG // Mar 17, 2008 at 0:23
Any way gents,

c’mon the black and whites, Do it for the rest of the season and salvage some dignity.
HOWAY THE LADS
Night night, So nice to have healthy debate instead of arguing all the while and two words for you to all learn
GARY CAHILL
139 richie // Mar 17, 2008 at 0:24
yes dragoner just been following him as im irish alike and hs highly rated plus the exact type of midfielder we need..time will tell where he goes destined for the prem
140 CJ // Mar 17, 2008 at 0:27
Is it Garven who score a proper screamer on saturday i think it was him who scored against England u21 read he is a great young player.
141 Tom_Toon // Mar 17, 2008 at 0:28
TUNISIAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA
142 dragoner // Mar 17, 2008 at 0:29
i must say, i am very pleased we are taking the arsenal route, getting young players and developing them, i have always wanted that but i never thought NUFC would get around to it, if it turns out well it will be like a dream come true, much like signing chermiti will be a dream come true for tom toon lol
143 richie // Mar 17, 2008 at 0:32
yes it is,,only clip could find
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5euMLJrtZgc&feature=related
144 Tom_Toon // Mar 17, 2008 at 0:34
If he signs he’ll be a dream come true for everyone, a wet dream at first, lol, bit far.
145 dragoner // Mar 17, 2008 at 0:34
OH THATS HIS NAME!! i have seen this guy before and always thought he was a good player for ipsich, i never found out his name and eventually forgot about him, thanks rich
146 dragoner // Mar 17, 2008 at 0:37
to tell the truth tom toon, i used to watch castillo a lot before he came to england and i thought if he ever came he would be great here, but to tell the truth, he has been average at best at city and i really am a bit disappointed, on his day he could beat 4 or so players at a time. Then again i suppose i gotta give him time to adjust to the premier league
147 Tom_Toon // Mar 17, 2008 at 0:39
Ye castillo was quite immense for olympiakos.
148 richie // Mar 17, 2008 at 0:41
garven is my number one choice, allegedly west ham bid 2.5 mill and were rejected
149 dragoner // Mar 17, 2008 at 0:41
we should offer tottenham 10million for huddlestone and between 5 and 8million for taraabt if we want to keep with the youth plan, i know it is a lot but both are class and would have an instant effect
150 dragoner // Mar 17, 2008 at 0:43
this garven guy is easily worth between 2.5 to 4 million, one for the future and already very confident
151 richie // Mar 17, 2008 at 0:46
agree with u on huddlestone haven seen enough of taarbat
could we realistically get huddlestone??
152 dragoner // Mar 17, 2008 at 0:48
tottenham sold the heart of their team to manchester united for the right price, Tottenham are all about making a good profit on their players, i reckon we could get huddlestone for 10million as they got him for cheap
