Steve Harper had another good game for Newcastle last night, and looks in confident mood between the sticks for us.

Steve will probably now be in goal for the rest of the season with Shay Given under the knife in Munich, Germany today, in an attempt to fix his chronic groin injury.
Seaham born Steve talked to the Evening Chronicle today, and was happy the lads came back after being a goal down last night So were we, and that’s an understatement.
“It’s nice to be going home without that sickening feeling of losing another game, and it gives us a bit of momentum going into Saturday.†“It’s about time we bounced back from going a goal behind.â€
“At half-time the manager made a few very valid points, and we took that into the second half and dominated.†“There were a few rallying calls at half-time, the lads saying ‘we can win this, come on’, and it was good to see.â€
“Too many times we have conceded a goal, and then gone on to concede another.†“You are out of the game then.†“It would have been nice to go on and win the game, but it was important not to lose it.â€
“When people have been pointing fingers and asking questions, it’s good to show that character to get back in the game.†“We were slightly disappointed not to have won the game, but it was a big point. It stops the rot, but it will mean nothing if we don’t win against Fulham.â€
“Hopefully, with the fans behind us, we will have three more points by 5pm on Saturday.â€
Harper is one of the lads showing leadership and standing up to be counted, and some others also came of age last night. It was easy to see once we get a win how the confidence of the players will improve, as Keegan has kept saying.
Once Michael put the equalizer in last night, the lads played some of their best football for a while.
If we can get one, or better still, two early goals on Saturday, we may be able to get a good win against Fulham - hope so.

woulp play exact same team for saturdat exept seen as were at home iw ould swap zog for geremi and go a bit more attacking with a more pace and creativity zog would add something different to the midfiled i would definatley stick with martins owen and viduka up front i like the look of them 3 up top all world class players

So happy harper has got his chance in goal, he deserves it for the patience he has shown, one of the best second choice keepers in the league, i will be very disappointed if given walks off of the treatment table straight on to the pitch

Obviously we need to be positive but I personally prefer it when we don’t “big up” 3 points too much (we’ve doen that far too often this season)> We should just focus on putting in a determined and skillful performance rather than talking about outxomes yet.
We could do worse than start with the same eleven, though playing Carroll instead of Viduka could be one positive change. Viduka can be useful but right now Carroll could be more of a hnadful and prove more of a goal threat?

Micepie i disagree caroll is untested in the premier league and i dont think would be a good choice as viduka played very well and won everything in the air against birmingham! also its fine sayin we need a skilled performance but 3 points is a lot more valuable then a fantastic performance

I am tempted to Say Emre in for ___ and Zog in for ___ but I am instead giving my complete support to whatever team King Kev puts out there.
Would like to see our most skilled players (Emre, Charlie, Oba) out there but I’m sure KK would also. It’s hard to know what goes on behinds the scenes that influences the managers’ decisions but I have renewed my faith in the messiah!

Firstly, can I just say how much I loved Nicky Butts gloriously passionate and crunching kick on Seba Larsson.
Secondly, Michael Owen is the man to drag us out of this relegation malarky. With Oba Martins aswell if last night is to go by. Oba was the best player on the park, and Owen popped up with the goal. I have faith again.
Now, we should beat Fulham on saturday, and if we can hold out for a point in our next away game, then we will be safe, Im certain of it.
For the summer, we need a commanding centre half, and a left back, as Jose Enrique is the only one at the club.
After that, its a creative midfielder and a right winger. Also maybe a big presence in midfield.
I would go for Daniel van Buyten as the CB. He is big, strong, has presence and is commanding obviously.
John Arne Riise for left back, available for around £5m, would be a good player I feel, if not him then Nickey Shorey for £6m.
Creatively I would go for Andriy Arshavin, again around £8m.
Then after that, whoever is available, just get them the hell in, we need bodies, and surely they can be better than Pretty boy Smith.
On that note, Alan Smith, I admire him for his comittment, but they boy lacks quality.

Will see if I cannot make adverts more relevant - there is apparently a way to do that - but being over here in USA is difficult too. It’s not the first time something stupid comes up.

Apparently they are PSA - Public Service Ads - that get put in when they cannot find any ad that’s relevant.
In those cases I’ve changed it so there will be nothing - hopefully we’ll never see Newt again

I’d love to see a contest betweem Oba n Owen til the end of the season, see which can score the most. I sort of seen the rivalry on Monday but also some good linkup play especially coming from Oba.
Hopefully Saturday and Oba’s playing, Smith isn’t and all could be rosie.
