Newcastle United’s new chief scout Lil Fuccillo has already been busy looking at future new young talent to bring to the club in the summer.

Sean Scannell - 17 year-old striker attracting Newcastle interest
The 51-year-old scout has been checking on two Championship prospects, Sheffield Wednesday’s 18 year-old center-back Mark Beevers and Crystal Palace’s 17 year-old striker Sean Scannell.
Sean Scannell is an English born Irish footballer and is the brother of Southend United player Damian Scannell. He plays for Crystal Palace, stands 5′10″ tall, and is primarily a striker but can also play on the right wing.
Crystal Palace chairman Simon Jordan has reportedly slapped a £3M price tag on Croydon-born Scannell, who has represented the Republic of Ireland at Under-18 level.
Sean has played 19 times for Palace and scored 2 goals, but the Newcastle Evening Chronicle is reporting today that he may well be going to Arsenal.

Mark Beevers - 18 year-old Owls central defender
We have already reported on Newcastle’s interest in Sheffield Wednesday’s 18-year-old center half Mark Beevers.
18 year-old Mark is a 6’4” defender who was born in Barnsley, England. He was recently placed on standby for the England under-19s upcoming game against Croatia on 5 February 2008. Andy Carroll is already in England’s squad for that game.
Mark made his senior debut at Southampton in January 2007 at age 17, giving an accomplished display at the heart of the defense. He had joined the club at age 12. He is strong in the air and good in the tackle and has continued to progress during his first full-time campaign at Hillsborough.
Mark has played 22 times so far for the Owls It seems like £1M is close to the fee it will take to get the youngster. On 28 January 2008, Sheffield Wednesday signed Beevers to an improved contract which runs through 2012.
That’s it, another two good youngsters we are looking at, but we think we have a better chance of signing Mark than Sean.
Comments welcome.

Since when were Men and Women allowed to play in the same team?
2 Tom_Toon // Mar 25, 2008 at 18:08
or Men and Animals for that matter!
3 Leo // Mar 25, 2008 at 18:09
tom i was thinking the same thing, sean does look like a girl, and has lady bumps.
we need to be finding more young central midfielders because we are very short on them

what do people reckon to Juan Pablo Pino? worth a look?
5 Tom_Toon // Mar 25, 2008 at 18:25
NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!
Juan Pablo Pino is incapable of passing, he thinks hes the only player on the pitch, literally!
Yes hes got skills but he doesnt pass!

Did anyone see that Geremi was in the Actim team of the week? He’s in the same midfield as Ronaldo and Bentley. Keep up the good work Geremi.
As for Central Defenders, I don’t think Dawson is the player we crave, but he’s better than some we already have! I don’t think Diatta will stay beyond his contract and I think in addition to Dawson we would need a commanding CB with pace!
REally we need the following players for next season:
2 x CB…. Maybe Dawson and Silvestre, can’t think of any better with EPL experience and who would drop down to us! Quite depressing we have to make do with these boys!
1 x LB…. Riise
1 x RB…. Haven’t got a Clue, maybe not needed if Geremi stays!
1 x RM……… Bentley
2 x LM (assuming CZ leaves)…… Maybe Downing and someone else!
2 x CM…….. Possibly Carrick and someone else
1 x ST………. Not a Idea!
9 Tom_Toon // Mar 25, 2008 at 19:03
Rather have me mam than Riise and Silvestre. Riise is pure shite!
10 Cockney Magpie // Mar 25, 2008 at 19:09
i think Dawson is good, he has jus not had the best of seasons
11 Carr is shite // Mar 25, 2008 at 19:29
Dawson is actually a big fan of magpies. We should sign player that love the club and not just because of money.
12 simen // Mar 25, 2008 at 19:30
Signings for the summer: Bentley, Carrick, Kompany, Berbatov and more of that kind! Know its a dream, but love to do just that
13 DC Magpie // Mar 25, 2008 at 19:33
Who do reckon Redknapp was talking about?
“There’s a lad who is playing in the Championship this season who has been around, but he has got the ability to play higher, and he has shown it this season on the big stage in the FA Cup. I’m not going to tell you who, but I’m keeping an eye on him.”
He seems to know how to shore up a defense!
14 DC Magpie // Mar 25, 2008 at 19:34
Good point Carr (is shit)
15 Benn..Geordie Down South // Mar 25, 2008 at 19:36

I don’t think the full back positions are of big concern this summer. Why?
Because I really rate Beye and Enrique. I think they are that good. Beye has been consistent this season and beyond him we have Geremi who can slot in. Enrique is going from strength to strength and we should try hard to keep him. Also we have Ben Tozer and David Edgar as backup who both deserve a chance so I wouldn’t go out looking for a full back.
At centre back I have a feeling we will lose Diatta, Ramage and Rozehnal over the summer. Taylor and Faye should be kept, not sure whether we’ll be able to flog a 32 year old Brazilian with a year left on his contract to be honest, we might be stuck with Cacapa as we are with Stephen Carr. I do like Cacapa, but I don’t think he suits this league.
So we need some new centre backs. Would like to see this Beevers kid join.
Finally whoever made the point about needing young midfielders, I agree, we’ve got goalkeepers, defenders and strikers but not a lot coming through in the midfield.
Finally (long post-sorry) well done to James Troisi for a full Australian cap.

Hadrian, if you have watched Dos Santos this season he has nowhere near lived up to his hype.

22 ehssi // Mar 25, 2008 at 20:21
why does not S. Taylor start for england u 21 today? is it because he is injured? I don’t hope so :(.
23 Greg P // Mar 25, 2008 at 20:35
Scannel is impressive at Palace, but light weight. I’ve played 5 a side against him (when he was 14/15 and we were 26/27) and while good he never looked like a pro even against a group of fat blokes.
24 Hadrian // Mar 25, 2008 at 20:44
he’s 19 tom
and earned 25 starts for one of the biggest teams in the world .
ive watched barca this season , and nobody has lived upto the hype .

Hadrian - Messi has continued on from last season, I don’t know what you expect from him to say he’s not lived up to the hype.
29 Dragoner // Mar 25, 2008 at 21:18
Dos Santos has not lived up to his hype, but who could live up to that hype, he has still shown class and massive potential
30 Whitey // Mar 25, 2008 at 21:39
What do you people think of Riga from Levante?
I only seen him a few times but every time ive thought he looks good in the attacking midfield role. He’s hard working and creative. Don’t know what he’s doing at Levante.

Enrique for LB!..
33 Tom_Toon // Mar 25, 2008 at 23:09
Can someone tell me why there are still idiots thinking Taylor should still have a cement place in the team come next season even after the summer transfer window and why they dont rate Enrique?
34 Punk Skunk // Mar 25, 2008 at 23:13
Hey TT, maybe they ain’t seen Enrique play or something…He’s just getting better & better, & i thought he looked pretty good from the start tbh, just needed to adjust to a new country etc. which he has done, well quick!..

Why do you all go on about Carrick??? Carrick is the better side of shit! ManUre over payed to get him and now that they have him he has hardly set the place alight. By the way..what made you guys think he would even join us in the first place!??! We are surviving this league by the skin of our teeth! Just because he’s a geordie doesn’t mean he will jump at the chance to play for us. I wish it were like that but it ain’t. With the Euro Cup coming up it will be nearly impossible to make ONE decent signing let alone 5 or 6 as many are shouting about. We need players, good ones, and badly but we have to be much more realistic. First lets end this terrible season with our premiership status bruised but not beaten and take it from there.
37 Tom_Toon // Mar 25, 2008 at 23:28
Richie - I doubt very much he’ll be back to his best because he doesnt seem to have much pace anymore, id happily give him another season to prove though.
38 Punk Skunk // Mar 25, 2008 at 23:33
Hey JP, i’m not keen on Carrick ma’self…He huffs & puffs a bit…& like other manWhore players rudolf ain’t stuck on, he only plays ‘em now & then, so he can sell ‘em later…If he really likes what they do, they’re playing all the time!..
39 richie // Mar 25, 2008 at 23:35
ye he needs game s and fitness, terrible recovery time, if he doesn return t form by next season ,,well then he may b past his best but i have feeling hel b alri, reckon barton can go from strength to strength under kk. its great seein him interact wit players

DUFF + Cash ===> Aiden McGeady
He is the closest to Ginola that Keegan can ever get!!

what about zoltan gera from west brom, available on a free
43 dougnufc // Mar 26, 2008 at 9:29
Heard that we went for Fiorentina’s Midfielder Kuzmanovic, but Arsenal had beaten us to get him.
44 HeronMag // Mar 26, 2008 at 9:42
I’m so pleased to see a committed youth policy in place. You can say what you like about us signing too many youngsters, but if only one or two of them make the grade from the youth set up it literally saves millions of £s.
You have to think about it in the long run. Lets say we buy Scannell. In 3-4 years he plays 20-25 matches, but only scores 4-5 goals. Despite all that he would still fetch a fee of around £5-£6m in the premierhsip market as a young British striker.
You can view our youth policy as an investment scheme. Even the kids that don’t make it will probably sell for a decent amount of money. The ones that do could become heroes and become worth a fortune.
Keep the faith lads. Things are looking up.
45 King Kev-4-3-3 // Mar 26, 2008 at 10:27
jp from the rock of gibraltor, keep your thoughts to the rock, carrick is class exactly what we need for his passing and abbilty to break down play.
46 King Kev-4-3-3 // Mar 26, 2008 at 10:28
i wouldnt even mind darren fletcher, very similar to carrick and grabs a few goals.
47 ELFER // Mar 26, 2008 at 10:29
good comment, HeronMag!
Aiden McGeady would be a fantastic addition - he can play left and also right wing. Get him!
Main concerne is our CB “chief”…hopefully we get an experienced EPL defender with leadership qualities, couse that’s what lacking at the moment. After that fill that hole in midfield and we’re fine!
48 HeronMag // Mar 26, 2008 at 10:40
Totally agree Elfer. We’ve never replaced Woodgate. I was suprised when we didn’t sign Sol Campbell when he was a free agent before ‘Arry Redknapp jumped in.
Problem is that now Woodgate’s at Spurs I don’t know who could do the job.
49 Leo // Mar 26, 2008 at 11:06
if zoltan gera is free in the summer, he would be a good signing. maybe not first team but he would defenitly push the center midfielders for a starting place
50 gonufc // Mar 26, 2008 at 12:22
Anyone watch the U21s last night? Fox at left back looked top class, would like to see him a few more times but he looked like he has massive potential.
51 beright // Mar 26, 2008 at 18:03
Strikers- Ashton Owen Martins
Midfield- Young carrick Bullard Bentley
Defense- Blue jacket , green jacket, Who gives a @
Bullard is as ugly as his name
52 dave // Mar 27, 2008 at 11:31
Keep buying good youngsters and and get them into the reserve team, this is our future.
Go for Bentley even if we have to pay over the odds for him because he is a magician.
Aiden Mcgeady will be terrifying premiership defences soon so go for him.
Wes Brown and Michael Dawson should make us much more solid at the back with Baye and the bull at left back.
It looks like Michael Owen is going to play deeper next season so l am at a loss to think of a suitable partner for him up front ( possibly Crouch) but l am sure KK is giving this a great deal of thought.
