It is looking like one of the youngsters who is almost certain to join Newcastle United will be Bournemouth’s 18 year-old striker Sam Vokes.
Sam Vokes - moving to Newcastle in summer?
While Newcastle would have liked to tie up the deal now, for £250K, and then loan Sam back to Bournemouth, so they wouldn’t be impacted, it looks like the move will now be delayed until the summer.
The news coming from Bournemouth is Sam is only too willing to join Newcastle United, and he was over the moon when Bournemouth manager Kevin Bond told him Newcastle were interested in him.
The young 6′1” Southampton- born striker, who has dual English and Welsh nationality, says:
“I have been told by Kevin Bond that clubs are interested in me, and with the administration it seems that I will be sold eventually.”“It has been a difficult season for us at Bournemouth, going into administration and ending up in the relegation zone with 10 points deducted has been tough.”
“I know Newcastle have shown interest – the gaffer called me in and told me that.” “But I do not expect anything now until the summer, so my aim is to do my very best for Bournemouth and hope that we can get out of trouble.”
A source on the south coast has already told journalists about Sam’s feelings when Sam heard that both Aston Villa and the Magpies were after him:
“Sam knows all about Aston Villa’s interest, but he is busting a gut to play for Newcastle, and the delay on his move up there is killing him.”
Well it looks like Sam may have a busted gut when he finally arrives in the summer but it’s always nice when a player really wants to join our club. A little on Sam’s playing career we published in an earlier article on Sam.
Vokes has scored 12 goals for Bournemouth in 25 starts this season, and he also has six assists. He was born in Lymington, England in October, and has dual nationality.
He is already a Welsh Under-21 international, and scored in his International debut after just 36 seconds with a goal in a 4-0 victory over Northern Ireland - way to go.
Sam has played 46 times for Bournemouth since his debut in 2006 has 15 goals to his credit. Since debuting for the Wales Under-21 side he has played 7 times and scored 4 goals for the Under-21s.

but with zamblera carroll baheng and vokes if we sign him we cant play them all so of them will want to leave

Then we can send him out on loan to a team at the level he’s been playing recently.
That’s what we need to do, get these young guys on the books and send them out to develop.
If Viduka, Martins, Owen and Smith stay, or if we’re getting rid of one or two of them and bringing a new guy in, I’d like to see Carroll go out on loan to the Championship again.
I don’t know how his spell at Preston went but I don’t remember hearing much noise about it, it seems he’s been much much better in recent weeks. So I’d like to send him down there if he’s not gonna get a look in in the first team.

Even if they all stay next year it will only build competition for places and make them try harder. If the other strikers want to move on because we are getting other promising guys in then they obviously aren’t good enough for this club.
Bring in 1000 of them it’ll only better our chances of some breaking into the 1st team!

Things are definately starting to pick up with the team and i think all credit has to go to Keegan. I read somewhere, i think it was a jose enrique interview, that under BSA they were playing a different style, with the long ball, and trying to be a difficult team to beat. And he said that under KK this has completely changed. Training has focused more on ball work, buy playing more 11 a side type practise matches, rather than focusing on the physicaal side like sam did.
Im sure if we had stayed with sam long enough he would have got it right, and im still critical that we cannot give a manager a decent run in the hot seat but i think its fair to say we are are much happier with KKs type of football.
Just looking at the last few games, players who had been playing poorly are doing much better and im sure its down to KK. He has obviously told the whole team, to keep it on the deck, particularly Butt who has played faw fewer long balls. At the fulham game you could see players telling one another to calm down and not play the long ball over midfield so much. I really hope we keep up the performance against TOTT.
Also i dont think KK will want to keep michael owen in the deeper role, but he is just working with what players he has, and for the people to say he is tactically crap, i think he was brilliant to spot that michael had that in his game, and he has used it perfectly, at a time when he has little other options.
Finally i really hope he keep martins, he is a brilliant player, and i hope KK gives him the whole 90 mins against Tot. Also Geremi didnt play that bad and like the actim index shows, i almost had 3 assits and a goal to his name. That not bad!

I like martins, he is good and hell get better.
But i dont think he played that well in 2nd half so he deserved to be taken off, not owenm so right choice.
I always feel that Owen will score even if hes done nothing, casue he does that, but Martins doesnt.
Id rather leave on Owen than Martins

This lad is quality, and could be pushing for first team after 6 months or so of settling in. He has the extra class which Carroll lacks, and if we do lose Martins and Shola as looks likely then it will avoid the waste on the bench (although I’d rather Owen left of course).

Id say get him in, Smith definatly doesnt count as a striker and with Viduka so injury prone/lazy/not arsed its time we brought Carroll in to play as the target man. So that leaves plenty of room in the reserves and first team fringe for these new youngsters.

fine maybe the kids are for further down the line but where are the young mf players
cmf is our worst part of the team and beyond the first squad which contains a past it butt, prison bound barton, a usless geremi and cowardly always unfit emre we have nothing in youth for cm.
