Kevin Keegan has pointed out the five most important players that have shown great leadership to get the club out of trouble these last several weeks.

Abdoulaye Faye - one of 5 players who stepped up
Of course Keegan immediately appointed Michael Owen as his captain, with the striker taking the armband from Alan Smith, and it has really paid off with Michael certainly rising to the challenge.
Not only that but he’s started to play really well under Kevin, and has also turned the fans to get behind him and the team. Michael’s been great for Newcastle since January.
Kevin believes there are four other players who have shown leadership along with Michael as he talked to the Evening Chronicle today before our late KO game at Portsmouth this afternoon.
Kevin said today:
“Geremi’s one of my five leaders – I call them the five leaders.â€
“There’s probably more.”
“You can put Joey Barton in that, and there’s Nicky Butt as well as Michael, obviously, and also Abdoulaye Faye.â€
“You’ve got a lot of experience there. Joey’s starting to look like he wants to be a leader, and we want to end up with 11 skippers, if we can.â€
Well we would add Habib Beye to that list, since Habib Beye has been in red hot form since Keegan arrived.
But it’s a very good base of players to build on for next season, when surely we’ll be able to finish much higher up in the league table.
Comments welcome.

Agree that Beye should be in there!! Was just wondering actually, how many of our current team have been Captains at their other clubs? seems like quite a few that I can think of. Anybody know for sure,

the problem with having too many players used to being captain is they feel there too big to follow the captain and may cause rifts in the team, just a suggestion
