Kevin Keegan’s thoughts have no doubt turned to the summer and which players to bring in and which to move out, but he still wants 5 wins in the last 5 games of this season.

Peter Ramage - contract runs out in June
With relegation almost assured Kevin says there will be some departures in the summer. Four players have their contracts run out. They are Ramage, Carr, Diatta and young James Troisi and it will be interesting to see if any of the four will have their contracts renewed.
Kevin talked to the Journal this morning:
“We are safe, I think, but we’re not mathematically safe yet,†“When we are, we’ll talk about Stephen Carr and Peter Ramage, there’s also James Troisi (out of contract in the summer). “
“We’re aware of that but, with the greatest respect to those players, they’re not the priority when we’re fighting for survival. They’ll come up over the next week or two. We’re doing everything stage by stage.â€
“But there’s no point strengthening your squad and then letting your best players go. None of those players have come and knocked on my door and said they want to leave so, until that happens, I will just assume they want to play for this club and fulfill their contracts.â€
“I don’t think you will find any of them coming in front of the cameras or in front of the Press and saying it is not a good club to be at.â€
We think Kevin will move out Carr, Ameobi, Rozehnal and maybe Ramage. James Troisi seems too young at 19 years old to move out, but that may happen. Peter Ramage may get another contract since he’s been out most of the season with his ACL knee injury, and since he’s a local lad, Kevin may want to keep him for a couple of years.
Kevin’s talked about the local lads being like gold dust, in that they give their all for their home town clubs.
After today’s games we could be mathematically safe and be able to see which players Keegan is moving on. If you haven’t yet voted in our poll on who Kevin will move out this summer please do. You have 3 votes each.
Comments welcome.

Ed - I think we should get 5 votes each as i think thats the realistic number of players KK will sell
2 Ausgeordie // Apr 12, 2008 at 11:22
I agree Ed give us 5 votes. There are more I want to be gone but 5 will be enough not to leave us too short with new signings and youngsters coming through

Errrrrr???? “With relegation almost assured”
I’d re-write that bit if I were you!!!!

Leo - the circumstances in which Roz left in January are a bit strange. KK said no-one could leave because we had a small squad and then at the last day of the window he let Rozehnal go to Lazio.
I think something has happenned between KK and Roz and that is the reason KK let him go. If Roz returns from Lazio he will be sold (mark my words
). And that will be a good thing, cause he is not good enough. I rated him high after his Bruges period and at Paris he confirmed my thoughts. But Engalnd will never be something for him. The best he could do is go back to France or go to play in Germany.

id let carr and diatta go and give ramage and troisi an extra year … they both deserve a chance imo.
as for rozzy i rated him highly but it seemed he wanted to go n i rekon we could brea even from him and move on .. back to france or germany

i would say about 5 players may move out and here are my 5 rozehna, smith, smith, smith & smith
10 craig f // Apr 12, 2008 at 12:05
alan smith was the probably the biggest waste of 6 million, its not that he is soooo bad, he just doesnt bring f***k all to the team. The ball gets played to him, he either chests it down and passes 5 yards back to the nearest player, or flicks it on, to nobody… thats all he does

i just think rozzy- put on a bit of muscle and he could cut it. there may have been an offer we couldnt refuse, or maybe he had a min release clause that lazio said they would fulfill…
anything could have been the reason

I think Roz maybe given another chance, We gave Butt and Milner another chance last season after they both had season long loans, And they were our best players all last season
I dont think Ramage should be put in the same category as Carr its so unfair, The only talking Carr should get from KK is “Shut the door on your way out”
Give Rambo a new contact as back up to Beye at RB and he will be like Watson and Elliott in Kevs first team.
13 Obafan // Apr 12, 2008 at 12:21
Ramage can also go for me; he is at highest a Championship player. I think we might have better solutions to cover Beye (Geremi).
14 CRAIGG // Apr 12, 2008 at 12:32
Its sad about Ramage as most people have only seen him playing at LB when he is hopelessly right footed
Watch the Fenebahce UEFA Cup match last season when he layed CB and was amazing and was voted MOM
Or The Arsenal match under souness when we won (Nobby scored) When again he was terific this time at RB, He totally outclassed Hleb and Lauren who created nothing and Hleb was subbed as he was so inneffective.

I think Troisi will move on. Our national team coach (Pim Verbeek) has been in his ear, suggesting a move in order to obtain first team football… Already had trials with Roda JC and this looks the likely destination. The reason for this is the dutch system Australian football is now adopting…

Number one has to be SMITH, followed swiftly by Carr and Duff. A few weeks ago you could easily have added Butt, Barton and Geremi to that list, maybe not now, at least for the time being.
17 toon4lyf // Apr 12, 2008 at 13:11
id get rid of butt carr nzogbia geremi ameobi viduka
18 Spyro // Apr 12, 2008 at 13:26
Rozehnal could be good back up as RB, CB, DM, and he may even come good under KK. Diatta hasn’t had a chance but he looked ok from the little i saw of him. Ramage should move on as i doubt he will have much of a chance here, maybe go to a low prem side or high championship side where they will play him more regularly. Carr can go.
19 Punk Skunk // Apr 12, 2008 at 13:49
I agree with you Leo & others who would keep Roz, but maybe KK will sell?..
…Carr & Ameobi are definates, surely?..
…& sadly, Zog…KK obviously don’t like his attitude, so unless he can suck his bottom lip in, he’ll be gone!..
20 shirts // Apr 12, 2008 at 14:15
I never really saw Carr play much, but seem to remember his last few games were pretty good, when he played at right back.
Do we have cover for the great Habib Beye if Carr leaves?
21 Punk Skunk // Apr 12, 2008 at 14:17
Shirts-Carr has played pretty well recently, to be fair, but his contracts up soon & i’m sure KK will be buying fB back-ups anyway!..
22 Alex // Apr 12, 2008 at 14:48
The first to go will be nzogbia .a great talent but its obvious he does not want to be at newcastle next season.carr ,ameobi and rozenthal will follow and it would not surprise me if Emre left as well.
23 UTD111 // Apr 12, 2008 at 15:54
I don’t agree with the opinion from some in here that Smithy should leave. All teams need players who can fill a number of positions and Smithy has proven effective all over the park. A solid squad player - ask KK.
24 Zero Cool // Apr 12, 2008 at 17:03
I agree. Smudger needs someone to teach him how to play 1 position. He’s been in Leeds, and Manchester too long where people where playing him as a striker/Center attacking midfielder. So how can you possibly expect him to play well in any 1 position? He’s got the attacking mind (Clearly he can’t defend for his life). He deserves a shot, as a nice fill-in striker. But he has to play up front.
25 chuck // Apr 12, 2008 at 19:54
Carr = defensive liability, outa here.
Ramage=not good enough, same.
Emre= injury prone,lacks consitency,gone.
Smith=totally whack, flog him.
N`zogbia= like to keep him, seems determined to leave.
Rozhenal=average, he wants to go,dont let the door hit you in the ass Rozy.
Cacapa&Diatta=give them a one year contract apiece. (back ups for next season)
should get between 15m.to 20m. for that lot, could sign some decent talent, eh!
26 wwe // Apr 12, 2008 at 20:38
am not from newcastle but i support them cause they have potential 2 break the top 4 1 day
27 Ausgeordie // Apr 13, 2008 at 0:14
Davies you twat I posted my comment 3 mins after the story came out.
28 hanzemre // Apr 13, 2008 at 9:42
KK’d not oust any1 except who really wants out (maybe Rozehnal & N’Zogbia) in coming summer. If Ameobi & Carr out i believe some of our youths from reserve team can cover. Give Ramage,Troisi, Emre, Smith,Cacapa, Diatta, 1 more (full) season under KK to show what they can prove of/ back-up at least. Add few more quality senior players each in CM, DM, RM, CB & LB & sure we’re a good prospect to challenge for top 5~8 EPL & Europe place next season .
