Habib Beye - Newcastle Confidence Sky High

April 14th, 2008 by Ed Harrison · 60 Comments

Habib Beye has warned Sunderland not to expect too much out of the game with Newcastle United next Sunday afternoon.

Habib Beye - we must beat Sunderland

The Senegal full-back told the club’s official website.

“The confidence is getting higher,” “There are still four games to go and we’re very ambitious for those games.”“There’s no reason why we can’t end the season not only unbeaten but also with four wins in the last four games.”

“We have the big derby next. It’s a huge game coming up - it doesn’t get much bigger than Sunderland.”  “It was important to get a positive result at Portsmouth so that we could go into the derby game on a high.”

“That now sets us up for another good week of training and hopefully we will keep this confidence and let it grow.”

The last four games are important for Newcastle, because if we can get four wins in a row, there is a good likelihood that we’ll be able to finish 10th, and in the top half of the table. Every place gained is also worth around £1M.

And of the 4 games left Sunderland has to be the easiest , simply because we are at home and they are beneath us in the league table. All 3 other teams, West Ham, Chelsea and Everton are above us in the table. We have one home game remaining after Sunday, and that’s against second top of the league, Chelsea.

So there’s lots of good reasons why we just have to get all 3 points on Sunday, not least of because it’s Sunderland.

Comments welcome.

dont know if its going to be the easiest, everton will put up less of a test because they cant reach 4th place.

  • 2 Tripp // Apr 14, 2008 at 18:12

Ditto Hammers. They haven’t shown much bottle lately either. I think Sunderland will be more difficult than Hammers, based on current form. Still, I think we should beat them, there’s no reason we shouldn’t.

  • 3 Geordie Joe // Apr 14, 2008 at 18:29

We can finish in the top half in my opinion. and that would be great. West ham are only 5 points ahead and we have to play them.
But i would settle for where we are now.

  • 4 CRAIGG // Apr 14, 2008 at 18:30

The ridicule of Steven Taylor goes on in previous posts i see, Taylor had a good game on Saturday as he more often than not does, Why dont you ever look at Fayes performances he is bad for having hit or miss matches but gets none of the stupid comments aimed at Taylor on a regular basis.

One comment i despise is the one about English players getting off lightly, Its bullshit they get it worse, Milner and Taylor have been great for at the very least 2 seasons yet are slagged off regularly for making errors irrspective of their ages, Yet you all love Geremi and Viduka despite them doing nothing all season, A handful of decent matches later and there our best players.

The most laughable Comments were on the subject of Owens Contract, who was a waste of money apparently a month ago yet now we should keep him at all costs and Taylor our best player for the last 2 seasons shouldnt have a new contract and should be sold.

Its Stupid and its people like you that give the cockney press the ammo to fire.

Anyway cant wait for sunday 3-1

  • 5 Egar // Apr 14, 2008 at 18:42

    Sunday 3-1.
    Win them all.
    Finish 10th.
Yeah, I can live with all that.
    Go get them, lads!

  • 6 hanzemre // Apr 14, 2008 at 18:44

right Craigg we can win this Sunday. Could be 5-0.

  • 7 andyc290 // Apr 14, 2008 at 18:46

Craigg - Who are you aiming that at and what the hell are you on about? You sound like a bloody nutcase son, you wanna calm down and take your meds.

Anyway i dont think Sunderland will be the easiest game at all - we seem to struggle at St James Park against them. Derby games always seem to suit the less skilled teams (them obviously)

Anyway what I really wanted to talk about was Habib Beye - i think he’s the best right back in the world. If it wasnt for Ronaldo he’d be world player of the year. The guy is an absolute legend - mark my words, we’ll not go far wrong with him in our team next season. The guys got it all and he seems to be a real leader.

All together now, ‘Monday, Tuesday, Habib Beye….’

  • 8 CRAIGG // Apr 14, 2008 at 18:52

Im aiming that at some of the posts from the past couple of days, As i havent been on since saturday and im certainly no nutcase.

  • 9 Egar // Apr 14, 2008 at 18:54

    5-0 Sunday Habib Baye

  • 10 CRAIGG // Apr 14, 2008 at 18:54

Beye is good but i think Sagna i twice the player

  • 11 ScottyT // Apr 14, 2008 at 19:02

craigg ive said what youve said in that post many times. im a big fan of milner and taylor and ive sed b4 that im sick of some people using the excuse ‘oh hes a local lad thats y youre defending him’. no im defending them because of performances ive seen throughout their toon career. i deent care wer theyre from its about how they perform.

yes i think people do side with the local lads but not to the point wer we are completely ignoring what they do on the pitch. taylor hasnt had a good season no .. but he isnt a bad player because of 1 bad season. hes been consistently good for the past 2 seasons as well as milner.

  • 12 Punk Skunk // Apr 14, 2008 at 19:03

Beye rocks, possibly our player of the season!?!..
…I guess y’ll be askin’ us for our player of the season soon Ed, huh?..

  • 13 Egar // Apr 14, 2008 at 19:04

    Take it easy, Craigg.
Writing on this blog is like a game of football. Only without the physical side. There’s always the opposition to beat with either individual brilliance or superb teamwork. There’s also the occassional foul that merits a yellow card or even a straight red. Just keep in mind, we do get played out of position sometimes.

3-1, 5-0; the numbers just keep getting more orgasmic!

Cheers! Time to hit the showers.

  • 14 ScottyT // Apr 14, 2008 at 19:05

as ive sed in another post if taylor had made the mistakes faye had in that match a lot of people would hav been jumping on his back sayin hes sh1te etc. still think fayes a gd player btw just on and off.

about beye great player gd committment and sorted our rb problem out for the next few seasons it seems. :)

  • 15 cloudstrife // Apr 14, 2008 at 19:08

    andy,

Beye’s good, but not world player of the year runner up. he’s the 2nd best right back in the league after Sagna. i really rate him as a player and leader. FSA truly struck gold. glad he wears the black and white.

  • 16 CRAIGG // Apr 14, 2008 at 19:12

    Scotty T

Its the arselicking to the form players that annoys me the most, Any player can string together a few good games, I judge people long term IE Milner and Taylor.

Thats why i stuck by KK and always will because despite our form in the first few months of Kevs return, Long term the king will get us back to the top.

I know were doing well as Spyro has stopped calling me deluded in his every post.

  • 17 Punk Skunk // Apr 14, 2008 at 19:15

Hey guys, just think what people woulda said if they had got a pen off of Taylor, doesn’t bare thinking about!..

  • 18 CRAIGG // Apr 14, 2008 at 19:20

Again Punk thats my point if Taylor had given Pompey that penalty he would have been slated, What would they say if Faye gave a pen away against spurs when he jumped on Keanes back.

    Oh well he’s usually good…

By the way I havent got anything against Faye, and I think the back 4 is as good as ive seen at SJP.

  • 19 Punk Skunk // Apr 14, 2008 at 19:26

Well knowing the fickleness of some of our fans bro’ it’s hard to say!..
…But basically y’right man…Some people jump on every single little scuff & it boils ma’piss!..
…I just wish some people would be a bit more even-handed in their comments…’Cos in the end players usually come good & they’re gonna have to retract their impatient & rash tripe!..
    …Know what sayin’?..

  • 20 CRAIGG // Apr 14, 2008 at 19:35

Yep, i may look stupid for some of my critical comments about players

If Geremi starts taking set pieces like David Beckham and runs down the wing like a young Ryan Giggs then i will look a reet tit

Or if our Current Striker Alan S turns Into Our old Striker Alan S, Scores 30 a season and ends up a fan favourite then i will egg on me face.

    But i doubt both.

  • 21 ScottyT // Apr 14, 2008 at 19:45

true craigg .. remember people slating nicky butt on here a while back when we were in that bad run off form but ave always said remember last season he was our best/2nd best player.

now everyone is eventually coming to terms with the fact that butt isnt bad atm. we need better yes as hes getting older but hes doing a canny job atm. same with viduka always said hes a great player even when in that poor run of form just needs to stop these niggly injuries.

  • 22 Punk Skunk // Apr 14, 2008 at 19:48

    Lol!..
…i can’t see that either mate!..
…But, at least Geremi has put in a few good performances recently & his free kicks have got better, but his corners do still suck!..
…As for smith, i don’t know why we bought him…I wasn’t happy when the speculation started about him coming & i was even less happy when he arrived!..
…But, at least KK has dropped him as a starter & y’never know what he can get outta him…
…I’m saying that because i reckon KK is gonna keep him here next season, sad!..

  • 23 Jonny // Apr 14, 2008 at 19:52

    Andy C…..
“If it wasnt for Ronaldo he’d be world player of the year.”
i mean i love the guy but come on…. :D

as for the mackems 3-1 to us, owen 2 martins 1 in my opinion…

  • 24 Jonny // Apr 14, 2008 at 19:54

and punk skunk completely agree, when i heard we were getting smith i thought ” good striker but why do we need him?” already got 3 good/great strikers at the club , and frankly hes rubbish in any other position except upfront, i still believe with a run of games up front he would come good, but hes never going to get that with viduka owen and martins at the club,

not that im defending his poor performances in midfield, just feel it was the worst possible time to buy another striker, and so its proved…

  • 25 toonbully // Apr 14, 2008 at 20:01

Why oh why does KK persist with the blonde haired leeds and manu reject . He was good five seasons ago , but now he can’t even get in the box never mind score in it . Bring on the youngsters Kev I implore you try Carroll PLEASE>>>>

TOON 2 Mackems Nul points…. Looking forward to seeing Keanos sick face on the side lines …..

  • 26 Punk Skunk // Apr 14, 2008 at 20:02

Yea Jonny, that’s fat sham for ya’, what was he thinkin’ there?..
…That said, a whole bunch of his other signings are starting to fit now, at last!..

…Maybe KK has got a magic wand, either that or fat sham had a ‘tragic wand’!..
…I always thought we had a pretty good squad of players & now with KK, it’s starting to prove that that is the case!..

…I’m sure you thought that too Craigg?..

  • 27 Nick C // Apr 14, 2008 at 20:07

    I already have PMT!!

  • 28 Geordie Gerrard7 // Apr 14, 2008 at 20:18

can someone tell me what channel on my sopcast i can get the chelsea game on plz?

  • 29 Marty // Apr 14, 2008 at 20:19

I agree with ya Lads CRAGG N PUNK SKUNK that Tayls is quite a good defender, everybody can have a poor period but on the MILNER issue…..guys he was doing the same at villa,i.e. skinning defenders but not getting a cross in or the ball going over the line
almost all the time.He is still young n has got class but needs sereious help in that department as thats what a winger is there for!!!
GEREMI also needs work on his corners, but THE PEROXIDE IDIOT i don`t know if he will be a good player again.KK can work the magic on all of them!

  • 30 Luke // Apr 14, 2008 at 20:23

    It’s a shame Parker didn’t stay… :-(

but I have a feeling I’m alone on this one. Kev would’ve used him well.

  • 31 ScottyT // Apr 14, 2008 at 20:46

nope your nt luke i sed the same thing i would hav liked him to stay. he had a poor second season but 1st season he was brilliant for us.

maybe he would hav been injurd too much agen but still was excellent in his 1st season here. also shame nobby left we have lacked creativity ever since :(

  • 32 Victor Meldru // Apr 14, 2008 at 20:48

    I don’t believe it!!

Some spotty faced kid telling me I can’t rubbish the team I support.

Let me tell you that if one of the overpaid testosterone ridden egotistical little b*ggers play badly then I will criticise them.

If they manage to play well i.e. actually do their job on the field then I will not criticise them, if one of them actually manages to excell at his job I might even praise the little b*ggers.

What I do not need is some snotty nosed school kid telling me to praise them if they have the occaisional good game which is barely all they have managed this season. G*ds sake you’d think we were top of the league and had actually won something

    I don’t believe it!!!

  • 33 Dirk // Apr 14, 2008 at 21:08

luke defo not alone, i luvved parker thought he was a great box to box player, and if he was here we mite b higher in the league, not just because of him but what he added to the team. same wiv nobby, we lost our spark wen he went and our midfield threat wen dyer left.

  • 34 oli 4 da toon // Apr 14, 2008 at 21:19

4 games of the season left and these shold be the results

    Newcastle v Sunderland 4 - 1
    West Ham v Newcastle 3 - 0
    Newcastle v Chelsea 2 - 1
    Everton v Newcastle 3 - 2

Newcatle all the way to the intertoto an then to UEFA cup win that and everything will be good and we will get there because of KK amazing transfers this summer

  • 35 The black in the blacknwhite // Apr 14, 2008 at 21:26

    here here - victor

criagg i think Milner has to riase his game or he will not be in the starting line up or bench next season- Iknow KK aswell as u all- i like milner (good striker of the ball) but he holding and dribbling skills are poor, and not the most intelligent player either

Butt- has improved vastly - great tackler and bull dog- but cant pass to save his life- another one in my view who will stay but will not be starter- squad player- plus 33- we need a tank in their- personally i think thats Bartons position for next season

Taylor- has heart- but also ability- im not to concerned about taylor- you can see the lad wants to improve and wants to captain the side…one day

Alan Smith…..too tired you lot know how i feel- perhaps he can be our mascot- everyone seems to like him

lets f**k up the mackems!! punch punch- i would appreciate a 5 niler Lads

  • 36 Tripp // Apr 14, 2008 at 21:27

Smith was brought in because he’s a “battler”. His magnum opus was the Gooners game where he harried them for 90 minutes. That’s precisely why Sam wanted him.. as a forward deployed defender.

Beye is mint. Love the lad. Great defender who (fortunately for us) happens to be a great attacker as well.

  • 37 Spyro // Apr 14, 2008 at 21:29

cant wait til the derby, COME ON THE TOON!

  • 38 Spyro // Apr 14, 2008 at 21:30

Beye is probably third or second best RB in the premiership. Sagna is the best and the only other RB who is anywhere near as good as Beye is Hutton i think

  • 39 Punk Skunk // Apr 14, 2008 at 21:35

Hey Tripp, is that it then with smith, one blinder a season, or d’y'reckon KK can rive a bit more out of him?..

  • 40 JJ // Apr 14, 2008 at 21:37

Agree with Craigg, Tals is only 22 years old. As a 22 year old he has got to be the best in England by a long way.
If we can get someone World Class to guide him he will become even better.
Milner is also a fantasitc player, just wish he would learn to pass a bit more, as I believe he would be great as an Alezander Hleb style player - he has the skill.
Smith, good back up as a target man for Viduka, BUT Carrol may be the better long term option.

  • 41 JJ // Apr 14, 2008 at 21:39

Oh one thing - are you guys forgetting a player called Gary Neville? Believe it ir not he plays right back…

  • 42 Spyro // Apr 14, 2008 at 21:40

“Tals is only 22 years old. As a 22 year old he has got to be the best in England by a long way”

Micah is younger and better than Taylor at both RB and CB

  • 43 Punk Skunk // Apr 14, 2008 at 21:40

JJ, not this season he doesn’t!..
    RB on the treatment couch!..

  • 44 Spyro // Apr 14, 2008 at 21:40

    Sagna is better than Neville

  • 45 Spyro // Apr 14, 2008 at 21:42

i would have Beye or Hutton over Neville any day

  • 46 Tom_Toon // Apr 14, 2008 at 22:03

Steinsson is a good right back, said he was good in holland but didnt think he would be in the prem, but hes looking very good.

  • 47 CRAIGG // Apr 14, 2008 at 22:06

Sorry lads went for me tea, Punk Skunk yes i agree about Smith it was a pointless signing as we had got Owen and Shola back from injury, Martins top scorer from last season and Viduka who is a class target man and here aint no way Smith is good enough in midfield either.

Although i would have taken him fresh from Leeds in a flash, Fergie ruined him

  • 48 CRAIGG // Apr 14, 2008 at 22:09

Spyro, Richards has made a lot of mistakes playing at CB and never looks as solid a Gary Neville at RB for England IMO

  • 49 Oba 9 // Apr 14, 2008 at 22:13

    Sunday’s derby prediction

    Geordies 3 slumbags 0

People that are saying kenwyne jones is the new Didier Drogba should stay off the glue and hurry up and get rabies we have an England great Michael Owen as our leader and they have the great dean whitehead that says it all about the scum from down the road.

  • 50 CRAIGG // Apr 14, 2008 at 22:18

Kenwyn Jones is a good player, But i think their Danger man will be Chopra he would love to get us back and has scored a few recently.

  • 51 andyc290 // Apr 14, 2008 at 22:34

Habib Beye would eat Sagna for breakfast. And then he’d send his kids round to eat his kids. I’m telling you hes like a young Marc Hottiger, mark my words you heard it here first.

  • 52 Nick C // Apr 14, 2008 at 22:37

    Hottiger was shite btw.

  • 53 andyc290 // Apr 14, 2008 at 22:39

Dean Whitehead is the secret love child of Roy Keane and Niall Quinn. Thats why he looks so deformed.

I for one hope that Sunderland stay up and they give Roy Keane another £50 million to waste and do you honestly think Kenwyne Jones wont want to take the first opportunity to get out of that absolute pit of a club.

And another thing Niall Quinn can shove his disco pants right up his arse.

If anyone reading this is gunna be sitting anywhere near the away fans on Saturday i suggest you follow my lead and buy a blow up dog off Ebay stick a picture of Roy Keane on the front and then throw it into their end. They will love it!

  • 54 Punk Skunk // Apr 14, 2008 at 23:09

Craigg, y’right there mate…smith woulda been great straight from leeds & i agree red nose killed his career!..

    …andyc290…Lol!..Funny as, man!..

  • 55 Punk Skunk // Apr 14, 2008 at 23:13

Beye has prob been toons player of the year but world player of thge year - is someone having a laugh

    Torres
    Ronaldo
    Sagna
Fabregas ( first 2 thirds of the season)

to name but a few are well ahead of Beye this season, next season may be different though :)
2-0 to the toon on Sunday
