News today that Newcastle may be after Cameroon international Achille Emana Edzimbi - better known as Achille Emana, or just Emana.

Achille Emana - highly rated 25 year-old attacking midfielder at Toulouse
Emana is said to be a target for lots of clubs across Europe, after having impressed for Toulouse since 2001. He has appeared 226 times for the French club and scored 28 goals.
The 25-year-old is highly rated as an attacking midfielder, and reports are that both Premier league clubs Newcastle United and West Ham have been keeping tabs on the Cameroon international.
Newcastle scouts are said to have watched Emana in action against Bordeaux over the weekend. With Newcastle already having four Africans in their first team in Martins, Faye, Beye and fellow Cameroon International Geremi - it could be an attractive destination for Emana.
And Newcastle’s new manager Kevin Keegan has already praised his African contingent, not only for their good play and work rate, but also for their overall professionalism at the club. They are all now designated African Geordies and Lamine Ditta, the Senegal captain, is also currently on the books until the end of the season.
Portsmouth were interested in bringing the player to England a couple of seasons back but that move never materialized. Spanish clubs Sevilla and Almeria and Italian clubs Fiorentina and Udinese are also believed to be tracking Emana and are reported to be readying offers for the player in the summer.
But reports suggest he would like to move to the Premier League and with Newcastle having fellow Cameroon star Geremi at the club, that could prove to be an advantage.
Toulouse are likely to value the player at around £6M, and if Newcastle are indeed interested, we would expect the club to move quickly for the 5′11″ midfield star.
Emana will certainly get glowing references from Newcastle’s African contingent about the Tyneside club, the fantastic supporters and manager Kevin Keegan and his staff - if not the weather. Well it’s hard to have everything.
We think Emana would be a good buy if he’s anything like the African players we already have at the club.
What do you think?
Comments welcome.

I’m a little concerned with the african signings simply because of the ACN. The african lads have been brilliant lately and as KK pointed out, when they were away we lost 20% of our squad right there. Not a good thing.

not a great scoring record for an attacking midfielder in the french league.
3 Tom_Toon // Apr 21, 2008 at 18:35
Geraldo Wendel, what a great player, immensly underrated, plays LM and LB. 14 goals in 55 games in the french game, not bad for a left wing-back.
4 Davies // Apr 21, 2008 at 18:37
Have to agree with Tripp. We have a high contingent of players that will be buggering off every other January to represent their countries in the ACN.
At the moment we have five, but I don’t know how long Lamine Diatta will be staying. Add to that the interest in Emana and Boussouffa, we could be up to seven players short come January 2010.
All well and good if Keegan can persuade Ashley to part with enough cash to give more than sufficient cover for those six weeks, otherwise, no thanks.

no thanks, ordinary player.

got this quote off one of the lesser toon site’s a quote from keegan “Terry McDermott just turned to me with five minutes to go when they were singing and he said, ‘It’s like the old days, Gaffer’â€. that give me shivers. For the first time in years I’m starting to believe again.
In current form (last 6 games) we are level top with the scum just wish the season wasn’t ending so soon
I posted this on another page i just wanted to make sure evey one got it

An enema (plural enemata or enemas ) is the procedure of introducing liquids into the rectum and colon via the anus . Enemas can be carried out for medical reasons as a treatment …
THIS MAY BE EXCELLENT AS ENEMA OR EMANA can be introduced to help clear the shit out of our team ! Alan Smith don’t stand too close to this guy , as you may get flushed doon the pan ….
8 t-g-w // Apr 21, 2008 at 19:28
Haha toonbully!
9 toonbrother // Apr 21, 2008 at 19:31
Saw him at the recent African cup and he simply isnt good enough im afraid. He was even outshone creatively by Arsenal’s reserve team player Alexandre Song who was supposed to be the defensive midfielder of the Cameroonian side. Newcastle might not yet be a big name as far as the transfer market is concerned but we can surely do better than Emana
10 Alex // Apr 21, 2008 at 19:33
stadium of light must be the worlds biggest enema then toonbully. when you see the amount of shit passing through every game played there.
11 Ross G // Apr 21, 2008 at 19:40
thanks for clearing up his name, I was really unsure bit like Alan Shearer also known as Alan or just Shearer.
12 chuck // Apr 21, 2008 at 19:52
Sounds like a decent buy, better than most touted for St James`s.
Hope the level of talent brought in is the prime consideration, got enough squad players.
Houghton seems to be doing a good job with the defence, been decent over the last few games, but still thin, could bring in a central defender and a couple of backs, guess Brown aint coming.
13 Ashton // Apr 21, 2008 at 19:57
M’bia is much better and younger than this guy
14 hanzowen // Apr 21, 2008 at 20:04
forget it! Let’s go & seek for some South American up & coming attacking midfielders.
15 iain // Apr 21, 2008 at 20:19
looks a good player imo hes trying to keep toulouse up on his own by the looks of things.
just watched the french highlights on setanta and he was causing plenty of problems for bordeuax who are the 2n best team in france right now.
also hasnt he retired from int football ??? so i doubt he would go the ACN.
16 Tom_Toon // Apr 21, 2008 at 20:37
Wendel of Bordeaux as mentioned above, hugely underrated would be a great buy, 4 mil or so!
hanzowen, Macnelly Torres?!?
17 toonbrother // Apr 21, 2008 at 21:49
Well if the 2008 ANC is anything to go by, hes a 2nd rate midfielder.
18 CRAIGG // Apr 21, 2008 at 21:57
What about Vahirua from Lorient good attacking Mid/Striker
19 51times // Apr 21, 2008 at 21:58
I think Beye is now retired internationally so we don’t have to worry about him in 2010.
20 Tom_Toon // Apr 21, 2008 at 22:03
Craigg, i take it you dont wnt to to answer that again.
21 CRAIGG // Apr 21, 2008 at 22:08

30 Tom_Toon // Apr 21, 2008 at 22:41
Not really, just making a point because he is one of them fm ‘wonderkids’, never seen him myself.
Slightly depressing Manc City have reported struck a deal for Jo of CSKA for 20 mil. Where is our ambition.
31 51times // Apr 21, 2008 at 22:56
We don’t really need a player like Jo though, do we? I’m sure we’ll bring in quality in the summer, just be patient.
32 Tom_Toon // Apr 21, 2008 at 23:33
Wouldnt say no to him, a big man with that much skills. Not since Viduka in his prime or Ibrahimovic!
33 figsdad // Apr 21, 2008 at 23:49
ACN every 2 years so we be ok next season..
34 obafemimartins // Apr 21, 2008 at 23:52
as many people say on here expect the unexepected so i wont be susprised one star player sign this season but we only we need one. the other signings will be players no1 has heard of and they will turn out good
35 Bill F // Apr 22, 2008 at 0:32
I believe I mentioned Wendell a few blogs ago, he scored with a header several weeks ago that wor Jackie would have been proud of. Another one to keep an eye on is Bahkary Kone he looks like a better version of SWP.
36 Tom_Toon // Apr 22, 2008 at 0:51
Ye, ive prviously said Wendel a few tmes in january, looking a very good player. Very underrated. I see it, bullet header from the edge of the box, was class.
Peter Lovenkrands we could get for about 1 mil or so, for an impact player to add a little pace to our team. Rather him than smith!
37 Denny // Apr 22, 2008 at 1:00
Why don’t we go for Ricardo Quaresma?? He’s a very good player like Ronaldo and a right winger which is just what we need. With KK in charge i believe he will be a superstar in premier league, the skill is just awesome…signed him please
38 Bill F // Apr 22, 2008 at 1:02
We nearly had him before he went to Rangers (or was it Celtic) I think he did OK without being brilliant. I know he is in Europe somewhere but can’t think where at the moment.
I wouldn’t totally write off Smith yet KK has a knack for turning sows ears into silk purses.
39 Tom_Toon // Apr 22, 2008 at 1:08
He is at Schlake
Yep, he would be good for around 2 mil or so, perfect impact player. One of the fastest players i have seen, had some flair and scored some specacular goals. Rumour has it his wife wants to move back to the UK. Brum and Rangers are rumoured to want him, but i think we could sneak in as the lure of the prem is too great, wouldn’t bid over 3 mil though because we dont NEED a player like him, it would just be nice to have one.
40 Bill F // Apr 22, 2008 at 1:11
You know what, at the risk of sounding like an idiot. I reckon Craiggs team, comment 25, could be ok under the right manager and in the right circunstances. They may have been rubbish when they were with us (most of the time anyway) but they were very good players at some point in their carreers and some of them have done ok since they left us.
41 obafemimartins // Apr 22, 2008 at 1:42
no i just dont think that would work Bill F. We could assemble a better team using nufcblog.com readers. I can take corners as i mentioned at some point in the last few days.
42 Oba 9 // Apr 22, 2008 at 2:43
roy keane’s dog will know a thing or 2 about enemas or dean whitehead.
43 Oba 9 // Apr 22, 2008 at 2:51
If Carlsberg made footballers they would be nothing like dean whitehead.
44 Tippo // Apr 22, 2008 at 4:14
I think he will be good as a squad player. A team needs a lot of players to last the season.
45 toonbrother // Apr 22, 2008 at 5:24
wow you deleted my comments ? just because you disagree?

get arshavin!
Diatta and Beye prob would retired by the next AC comp. i reckon, i want to see this guy assist stats, ed u got it? but well african players work rate are unbelievable wont mind him, emre is too injury prone, and alan smith is not an attacking mid!
49 Nev // Apr 22, 2008 at 8:36
LOL
steve harper linked to a £500k move to liverpool lol

2006–2007 FC Groningen 29 (10)
2007– Ajax 33 (17)
he is only 21 could get him for less than 15 million id say he gets roughly one goal per two games and sets up a fair few to boot if anyone knows king kev tell him about this lad
51 Leo // Apr 22, 2008 at 9:42
obafemimartins i would play a hybrid left back role. different because i would barely be defneding because we wouldnt loose the ball
either that or i will play the viduka- hold the ball up role.
where does anyone else wanna play?
52 Eric // Apr 22, 2008 at 10:19
Watched him on Youtube. Quite skillful but seems to go down too readily for such a sturdy bloke. He does a good roll on the grass after he has been tripped. Over and over. Busy player and has said he does not want to play for Cameroon. Very direct towards the box and can pass well.
53 dougnufc // Apr 22, 2008 at 10:33
“Newcastle United strike-ace Obafemi Martins is set to outstrip fellow Africans Samuel Eto’o (Barcelona) and Didier Drogba (Chelsea) with a mega bucks boot deal.
The Sun says Martins is on the verge of signing the biggest boot deal ever for an African player. Adidas will pay him £1.7million for a three-year deal”
