Newcastle Can Still Catch West Ham

April 25th, 2008 by Ed Harrison · 18 Comments

Steve Harper wants 3 points tomorrow at Upton Park, as do Newcastle United fans, so we keep alive the chance of finally overtaking the Hammers in the league.

Steve Harper - goalkeeper in top form for Newcastle

Steve Harper prepared to travel to London today and before he left he talked to the Evening Chronicle:

“We’ve got bad memories from what happened to Shay at Upton Park last season.” “I played there for the last three or four minutes, and I wasn’t aware at the time of how bad it was.”

“We knew he was hurt, but when we went in the dressing room afterwards we thought he was going to be OK.” “As I came out, he took a turn. We hadn’t realized how serious it was.”

West Ham fans are not too happy with recent results and booed manager Alan Curbishley last week. We may hear those boos again if Newcastle are at their best tomorrow at Upton Park.

Steve added:

“They’ve had a lot of injuries, and their fans are getting on their backs, so we’ll got there looking for a quick start. We’ll go there full of confidence.”

“There are three games left, and there’s no reason why we can’t go there and win.”

Even though Nobby Solano Craig Bellamy, Scott Parker, Kieron Dyer and Lee Bowyer are all at West Ham it looks like only Scott Parker and Nobby will appear in tomorrow’s game and Nobby isn’t sure whether he’ll start or not.

Newcastle’s in-form goalkeeper continued:

“Scott Parker is fit, but I don’t think Kieron or Bellers will be.” “I’m not sure about Nobby.”

“There’s Lee Bowyer as well, so there’ll be a few old faces. I’m sure Scott Parker, if he’s the one that’s fit, will be fired up for it, but we’ll go there full of confidence after six games unbeaten.”

“We would love another three points.”

Three points is what we need and then we’ll have two games, Chelsea at home and Everton away to make 3 points up on West Ham, since they have a much better goal difference than we do.

West Ham play Man United away and Aston Villa at home. They could lose both games so we would need at least one win to move into the top half of the table - that’s still possible.

Comments welcome.

I have a mate who supports West Ham and he was pretty embarassed about the things they shouted at Roeder. National press of course mentioned f**k all.

Funny that, Geordies calling us scum. Bit like Jordan calling Posh Spice thick. I was at the game and the only abuse he took was about sending us down. The lies about ‘tumour boy’ chants have been easily bought in Geordieland, which comes as no great surprise. By the way, did your famously loyal crowd have a go at the same bloke perchance? No I thought not. Anyway, enjoy your visit and at the end of the season you can all reflect on having spent another fortune to battle it out for tenth. Congratulations!

hahhaha we spend 10 mil, that is hardly a fortune, how much did you lot spend ???

Translate this Cockney Rhyming Slang bellend

    Luck Cough, You Sucking Runt

  • 15 51times // Apr 25, 2008 at 17:17

Battling it out for 10th is the best West Ham should ever hope for really. Chelsea, Arsenal, Tottenham and Man Utd are the big clubs of London. You should be happy to just be in the premiership, it’s more than you deserve. Now run along you BNP voting cockney wanker.

Oh and ToonKing, to a small club like West Ham £10m IS a fortune.

  • 16 tdt // Apr 25, 2008 at 17:24

ha u must be death pal if u didnt hear the chants and u were there! and explain ur justification for gordies being scum? u aint gont “nuffink on us, bruv!”

  • 17 51times // Apr 25, 2008 at 17:42

It’s cause us northern monkeys don’t eat jellied eel or put tomato ketchup on our mashed potato. Jesus what a disgusting bunch of bastards cockneys are.

Unless they support NUFC of course, then they’re alright.

lol what a tit for voicing such a clearly wrong point of view! tube
