N’Zogbia Likely To Move In The Summer

May 3rd, 2008 by Ed Harrison · 43 Comments

We haven’t heard much from Charles N’Zogbia these last several weeks, and he hasn’t even been able to make the bench over the last few games.

Charles N’Zogbia - turns just 22 at the end of the month

So we don’t know if he’s still got at attitude problem, or whether Kevin has been able to start to get the best out of the French youngster, who turns 22 at the end of this month.

Charles has skills galore but Kevin is not the type of manager to be very patient with footballers who are too self centered, and not good team players.

Kevin talked to the Newcastle Evening Chronicle today:.

“Charles has got to wait for his chance to get back in.” “He’s gone out of the side with an injury at a bad time, as the side has kept winning.”

“Alan Smith is the same, as is Damien Duff.”“Smithy was decimated not to get on against Sunderland a fortnight ago, but I explained my decision to him afterwards.”

Keegan hasn’t made too many changes to the team since the Birmingham game, and that’s not too surprising given the great run the team has been on.

David Edgar came in for food-poisoning victim Steven Taylor against Reading and the young Canadian defender again deputized well for the injured Senegal international Abdoulaye Faye, at West Ham last Saturday.

It turns out N’Zogbia’s last start was in Newcastle last defeat at Liverpool on March 8th – and that could well turn out to be Charles’ final game ever for Newcastle.

The decision is his, as to whether he leaves Newcastle in the summer, but if he’s not determined to stay at Newcastle and make a success of his career on Tyneside, we expect Keegan will allow the youngster to move to London to be closer to his mother and family, who live there.

Charles was one of our best ever young signings and arrived at the club in the summer of 2004 from Le Havre, and was signed by Sir Bobby Robson, just before he was sacked rather ridiculously, by then Chairman Freddy Shepherd.

One of the unknowns right now is whether Charles will be here next season.

We hope he is, but think he will move to a London club this summer.

Comments very welcome.

He is good, but no point keeping someone if he is unsettled. He is young, his mind is easily influenced by bad agents and no brains friends. I will accept him if he is here to stay.

tbh id be very very very surprised if he was here next season. he dont want to be here and the fact hes been out of the team the last few games to me signals hes leaving for sure.

nt too bothered tbh hes a gd player bt we can get a gd sum of money for him. attitude problem seems right so get rid.. its up to him really he can change his attitude or leave.

Good player but Keegan doesnt mess about with unhappy players as he has shown in the past as it affects squad morale. We should get a decent price for him seeing as he is contracted until 2012 and will be still be looked upon as a bright young star amongst prospective buying clubs.

I hope N’Zogbia has a long look at himself and is realistic about his past and future. Newcastle could take him a long way if he becomes more of a team player.

Ah go on, you know it makes sense. Eat some humble stottie and look up. Spurs have a new attacking midfielder and you’d be a bit part player at Arsenal.

Stick with the Toon and work hard for the club and you’ll be a star. Look at Nicky Butt!

hear hear jim, i just wished nzogbia is reading

  • 6 geordie_jordan // May 3, 2008 at 15:21

    2 problems with this
    1) edgar did not deputise “well” against whu, in fact he was rubbish
    2) i hope zoggy stays!! but if he doesn’t have his heart with nufc than i’d not be too gutted for him to leave. but the thing is, we haven’t heard anything and charles hasn’t said anything about leaving. so let’s hold off on the rumours

  • 7 Midjew // May 3, 2008 at 15:35

Would be good to see N’Zogbia playing well for us…

BUT… HE HAS been going on about leaving past 2 seasons so maybe its time to cut our ties for a good sum of money.

I reckon if we could get a part ex for either SWP or Lennon that would be good for us.

Milner on left (where he prefers)
then either SWP, Lennon or Pennant on right.

    That sounds realistic

  • 8 Dondatta13 // May 3, 2008 at 15:42

Zog on the Tyne … Olivier Bernard Mk2 ?

P.S Can we have Van der Vaart at the Toon please :)

  • 9 Northumberland Magpie // May 3, 2008 at 15:46

Whats all this about Van der Varrt where does he play and who does he play for know nothing about him

  • 10 valle // May 3, 2008 at 15:55

He plays for HSV and is a former Ajax youth star… He is a creative midfielder with a blistering shot and a inteligent pass.

  • 11 valle // May 3, 2008 at 15:56

Zog should leave, but none in the top 10 will want him… Instead of improving his game and become a EPL star he has used his time to sulk… Good ridance!!!, no one who dosnt want to play for NUFC deserves to.

  • 12 Northumberland Magpie // May 3, 2008 at 15:58

Does he have any pace though as keegan likes wingers that have a turn of pace to get behind fullbacks

  • 13 valle // May 3, 2008 at 16:00

Now that Barry might be going to Liverpool, wouldnt a player like Alonso be a good signing?

  • 14 valle // May 3, 2008 at 16:02

He isnt a winger mate, he is a central midfielder able to play in the hole.

  • 15 valle // May 3, 2008 at 16:05

Here you go mate, go take a look :)

  • 16 Northumberland Magpie // May 3, 2008 at 16:09

Loos good but would he come still need some pace on the wings though dont know what the Celtic lad is like can KK unearth another Ginola?i

  • 17 valle // May 3, 2008 at 16:12

Take a good hard long look at the drible he makes on the 6th minute in the video… The guy go past 5 people =O

  • 18 valle // May 3, 2008 at 16:15

McGeady?… He was player of the year in SPL

  • 19 Dondatta13 // May 3, 2008 at 16:16

Northumberland Magpie, KK used to star for Hamburg back in the day, He’s still a legend there. I think with the right money slapped down, and a good wage we might get that B&W Van man … Van der Vaart

  • 20 Northumberland Magpie // May 3, 2008 at 16:23

Maybe but does he have the strength and speed for EPL still need pace on wing how swp only problem with that would have clown Ian wight around the ground

  • 21 Dondatta13 // May 3, 2008 at 16:30

Northumberland Magpie, mate this kid VDV would have you drooling when you see him play. KK is after a creative midfielder … cant see many more players Id like at the toon in that position (but thats just my personal opinion)

  • 22 Northumberland Magpie // May 3, 2008 at 16:32

it all depends if he would come and why is no-one else interested

  • 23 Dondatta13 // May 3, 2008 at 16:40

Northumberland Magpie, He was set for “World Domination” (Oooh errr mrs) and then bizzarely, he signed for Hamburg from Ajax for 5 million Euro’s? It suprprised everyone in football … so if he can sign for them, why cant he sign for us?

  • 24 Northumberland Magpie // May 3, 2008 at 17:01

well lets hope so 12 easy points nexy year with mackams and smoggies still in epl

  • 25 Hadji // May 3, 2008 at 17:10

Dondatta…He made the best thing ever by joining Hamburg cause he was going step by step in his career. He didn’t make the same mistake like for ex:Ognjenovic to Real Madrid,Ciric to Barcelona,Podolski to Bayern, etc.Our only chance was while he was in Ajax but now with Barcelona who’s after him i just cant see that happen.

  • 26 Dondatta13 // May 3, 2008 at 17:24

Hadji, EPL is THE place to play lol. If we go about our business quickly and quietly .. I dont see why not hamburg to Newcastle and the EPL would be a step up IMO

  • 27 sparetheman // May 3, 2008 at 17:30

I reckon N’Zogbia is the best youngster we’ve had at the club for the past decade and I’ll be gutted to see him go. I won’t be surprised if he becomes a bit of a superstar wherever he ends up next.

  • 28 sas1 // May 3, 2008 at 17:37

Van Der Vaart’s wife is from Hamburg afaik, and I believe he’s happy there. Can’t blame him, I would be too, here’s his missus (possibly not safe if you’re in work)

    http://images.google.ie/images?q=van%20der%20vaart%20sylvie&sourceid=navclient-ff&ie=UTF-8&rlz=1B3GGGL_enDE260DE260&um=1&sa=N&tab=wi

Quite why anyone thinks he would sign for us amazes me.

  • 29 valle // May 3, 2008 at 17:40

sas1… i know beckham does it, but not all footballers let their wife decide where they will play… im sure she could have a model career in england too

  • 30 daiv // May 3, 2008 at 18:20

N’Nobbia is a prat. he is a prima donna who does not want to play for us. Get rid of him. I can’t stand all this crawling about trying to keep him. He is a traitor. Sell him to WHU with Dyer and co. Another prat who wants to be with his family. Babbbbies really. They just want away and use the family as an excuse. Try telling that one to a soldier serving in Afghanistan. He’ll regret it just like Robert and other babies agitated for a move. They think they are better than they are and get found out. What happened to Robert? We bought him for £10M and could not sell him for peanuts 3 years later.

  • 31 valle // May 3, 2008 at 19:10

daiv… I agree mostly, but i dont think Robert wanted to leave us, he just didnt see eye to eye with Souness and that kinda pushed him out.

  • 32 Alex // May 3, 2008 at 19:31

sas1 van der vaarts wife is dutch just like him and forget about him coming to newcastle there has been strong rumors that he will be heading for bayern munich in the summer

  • 33 Tom_Toon // May 3, 2008 at 19:45

van der Vaart wont join Bayern, hes turned them down 3 times already.

  • 34 chuck // May 3, 2008 at 20:20

Sorry to see him leave , Charlie has tons of potential, would have loved to see him team up with Duff or McGeady as an interchanging pair on the left, could have created havoc with defenders.
Still not too late, sign McGeady team him with duff= creativity and goals.

  • 35 Hadji // May 3, 2008 at 22:13

If Quaresma signs for Real that means that Roben’s days are numbered.
Almost anyone will sign for us if we show that we are ambitious and that we want to be a top 4 material. But when the likes of Roben see that we’re linked with the likes of Barnes,Sam Vokes,Bullard, etc, then they will realize how ambitious we really are.

  • 36 dcbashore // May 3, 2008 at 23:50

N’Zogbia is the new Jenas. Good riddance.

  • 37 robertsa // May 4, 2008 at 9:07

if he wants to go we cant keep him especially when we are linked with mcgeady and today we have been linked with ireland

  • 38 robertsa // May 4, 2008 at 9:12

we could probably get 8million for nzogbia nd that would pay for lennon, or pennant or mcgeady or van der vaart or cuellar

  • 39 Eric // May 4, 2008 at 9:47

Do not want him to leave. He could, if he changes his childish attitude, be a diamond for NUFC. He is being manipulated by a bad agent and brain dead friends who do not have his real interests at heart. He has become a pawn in somebody else’s game. If he goes to Arse and All or the Sperms he will be a bit part player. Shape up Zog and play for the Toon. If not, then clear off and good riddance. You are, sonny bum, replaceable.

  • 40 RayNUFC // May 4, 2008 at 10:30

Would be a shame to see him go but if he doesn’t want to fight for the cause then cheerio. Besides Andy Cole can anyone think of a player who left NUFC to go to a “bigger” club? Seems to me that once these “big stars” leave us, the only way is down. If Zog thinks he willl go to Arsenal or Spurs and start making demands at those clubs then he’s in for an eye-opener.

  • 41 Sean // May 4, 2008 at 13:06

does anyone know if hamburg wud actually want n’zogbia?

  • 42 KKN39 // May 5, 2008 at 2:31

for those who have dreamt about VDV … let alone knowing all the “giants” like Inter, Juve, Valen, or even Chelski and Barca interest, he would NEVER come here even if we were in CL as his wife will NEVER settle for “boring” life in the city of Newcastle. well yes he listens to his wife.

  • 43 Mark // May 5, 2008 at 10:11

Kunte Kinte can pi55 off, the little tw@. moan moan moan i hope his career nose dives.

    Never any good anyway to be brutally honest, a few decent flashes, but mainly its this;

    head down
run (usually straight into a cluster of opposition)
    get tackled
stand and shout and wave arms like a beatch.
