7 Players On Way Out Of Newcastle

May 7th, 2008 by Ed Harrison · 79 Comments

It should be a good summer for Newcastle in the transfer market, despite Kevin Keegan being a little despondent after our defeat against Chelsea yesterday.

kevin-keegan-461.jpg

Kevin Keegan - 7 players on way out of Newcastle?

But the lads had nothing to be ashamed of on Monday, and they were the better team in the first half. The second half was different as Chelsea turned on the after-burners, but even then the defense did really well until the first goal went in.

Kevin has started his clear-out for the summer and although he says he only wants 3-4 top players to come in, we think there’ll be quite a few on their way out of the door.

He’s already announced that Ramage, Carr and Troisi will not have their contracts renewed, and it’s almost a certainty that Ameobi and Rozehnal will also leave – simply because they have proved they are not good enough.

It’s hard to think that Diatta will have his contract extended, since he’s been unable to force his way into the side so we’d also expect him to be on his way out too.

Charles N’Zogbia is very likely to want to move to London, but we’d be very happy for him to stay at the club.

If we assume that we’ll lose all of Ramage, Carr, Troisi, Ameobi, Rozehnal, N’Zogbia and Diatta then that’s 7 out of the door, including three center-backs.

So we wouldn’t be surprised if Kevin brings in two central defenders and we think Dunne (£5M) and Porto defender Bruno Alves (£?M) are the two at the top of the list.

Kevin may also want to replace Carr with a right back and Nelson Marcus of Benfica has been mentioned as a possible target.

As far as left-back goes we’d really like to see Wayne Bridge of Chelsea (£4m) at the club but either Nicky Shorey or John Arne Riise would also be good for us.

As far as replacing Charles N’Zogbia Croatian international Ivaca Olic could be a great buy at £4M.

To replace Ameobi, there’s a number of potential strikers including Liverpool’s Peter Crouch, St Etienne’s powerful striker Bafetimbi Gomis, Darren Bent and even Marseille’s Djibril Cisse.

We may have to pay around £10M for one of these strikers, but they’d certainly improve our squad, and it’s got to be worrying that Viduka is injured so much.

We also hear that Joaquin is available from Valencia and he would be just great at Newcastle.

OUT IN

Carr Nelson Marcus (Porto) or ...

Rozehnal Richard Dunne (Man City) or ...

Ramage Bruno Alves (Porto) or ...

Diatta Not replaced

N'Zogbia Ivaca Olic (Hamburg) or
           Mabrk Boussoufa (Anderlecht) or ...

Troisi Joaquin (Valencia) or ...

Ameobi Peter Crouch (Liverpool)or
	   Darren Bent (Spurs) or
	   Bafetimbi Gomis (St Etienne) or
           Djibril Cisse (Marseilles) or .....

We have not mentioned all the targets we may go after who include Le Mans defensive midfielder Stephane Sessegnon, and we hear that the great Gennaro Gattuso of AC Milan wants to play in England.

This is a made for Newcastle player if ever we saw one.

This is not meant to be a complete transfer review, and we haven’t tried to cover all players that may arrive during the summer.

However, if we look at who’s leaving and who could come in - there’s no doubt our squad will be vastly improved from this season. Maybe not top 4, but we could be good enough to make top 6 next season, which would be phenomenal.

Comments very welcome.

    …. and everyone felt Grumpy?

  • 2 Leo Smith // May 7, 2008 at 0:31

Beginning to get the impression that N’Zogbia actually wants to stay - he looked really up for it against Chelsea (ableit briefly). In terms of targets, I think you’re right with most of them Ed, with some reservations.

I have never heard of Nelson Marcus before this article! RB can be covered by Taylor or Geremi at a push - not a priority position.

Dunne looks likely to arrive, but Alves will cost a hell of a lot more than £4m - his club want around £23m it seems! Again, don’t know enough to judge. Cuellar should be worth a look too, as should Metzelder. Getting either of those for £6-7m (or both :D) would be excellent.

Left backs are all good shouts, although all but Shorey would prob go in ahead of Enrique, although arguably that’s not a bad thing!

Ivaca Olic is pretty good, although perhaps only a squad player in a 443. Mabrk Boussoufa I thought had signed a new contract at Anderlecht so defo won’t be coming? Haven’t heard rave reviews of him either. We should be aiming for Arshavin with some degree of urgency for this position, and I reckon it’s worth a punt at Diego/van der Vaart as well - yes they may be “above us” but all the top Euro sides have pretty well packed midfields at the mo, even Spurs can’t buy any more midfielders…. can they???

Right winger should be Bentley. If KK wants EPL players then he’s gotta be top of our list. The guy’s immense and would be so so so much better than Geremi in our current set up and would be a massive improvement with just one signing.

Strikers - we need at least one to replace Ameobi, and another to replace Viduka when he’s out. We saw how much we fell to pieces when he went off and my namesake Smith isn’t good enough sadly. Gomis seems a good shout if we’re after up-and-coming talent, although some say he’s not a great finisher (perfect replacement for Shola!). I’ve always liked Ashton, and I think Crouch is a terrific player who’d do very well in our set up.

Other than that I think the players mentioned should be the only ones to go (minus N’Zogbia). Those saying to clear out Duff, Emre, Barton, Geremi, Butt, Taylor & Smith are forgetting how thin our squad is. These players are excellent back up to what we’ll ideally have in a couple of months and need to be kept, at least for another season or two. Those saying get shot of Given, Martins, and (?!) Owen need their heads examined.

We should also try and target great players who may be available. Sure, an Henry or Gattuso may be “past it” (a laughable suggestion imo) but just think for a moment - won’t a team with Owen, Martins, Henry, Gattuso et al have a helluva lot more pulling power for players like van der Vaart, Diego etc?Bring on the summer - I can’t wait!

  • 3 Geordie Lumberjack // May 7, 2008 at 0:32

I think I’m the only one not sold on Riise? I’d definately take Bridge over him, but I’m not so down on Enrique to think that LB is a priority this summer.

  • 4 Hamas (51times) // May 7, 2008 at 0:35

Alves is priced at something like £23m, not £4m. That price seems a bit insane to me though.

  • 5 Whitey // May 7, 2008 at 0:39

I’ve seen Jemaine Pennent linked with us a few times.

    Possibly and ok signing

  • 6 Thomas // May 7, 2008 at 0:44

We should get Jagielka, he is class and versatile. Big Sam should have signed him

  • 7 Pete // May 7, 2008 at 0:45

Aiden McGeady would be a great buy and he would love it in the North East.
I think Kev hinted at a move for Shaun Wright Phillips in his interview after the match, I think Shaun would sign for us aswell.
Like Leo said I’d love big bids for Diego, van der Vaart and also Huntelaar.

  • 8 Tom_Toon // May 7, 2008 at 0:57

Alves - 4 million?!?! You havin’ a giraffe?!?

Hes worth over 10. 14 max id say.

Nelson Marcus, ahahah. Nelson Marcos* Hes rubbish at rb and i dont normally say that about Benfica players (even if thet are).

Olic aint a winger, he can just play there!

Sessegnon isnt a defensive midfielder!!!!!!!! Hes a winger although he probably could play cm. Ive seen him a fair few times to know this!

Ed - You are seriously under estimating prices, they are so inflated these days.

  • 9 Hamas (51times) // May 7, 2008 at 0:58

Tom_Toon - The press were saying Wenger wanted him to replace Flamini. I thought that was odd since from what I’ve heard they’re nothing alike.

  • 10 Chris F // May 7, 2008 at 1:00

we’d have a slim chance for VDV, but diego and huntelaar? i wouldn’t hold your breath there.

unlike Leo, i do think we need to buy a replacement for Carr, or at least look to the youth teams for cover, as taylor and geremi are not full backs, and arent at their best when played there.

ideally, we would want 2 players for every position on the pitch, but thats not very likely as our squad is extremely thing in numbers.

should be an interesting summer, and as i’ve said before, only the southern tabloid bullshitters have interpreted kk’s words as defeatist on monday, he was just being realistic, but that shows that we can’t win.

we talk about signing world class players, we’re delusional.

we set more realistic targets and we’ve given up.

what a joke the english media is.

  • 11 Tom_Toon // May 7, 2008 at 1:01

I wouldnt touch Huntelaar with a barge pole.

    Positives:
    Good finisher.
    Allright in the air.

    Negatives:
    Lack speed
    Lacks team play
    Lacks creativity
    Lacks skill
    Lacks assists

  • 12 Leo Smith // May 7, 2008 at 1:07

We’ve apparently put a bid in for Sessegnon. I’ll believe it when I see it, but I know nothing about him. Any chance you could shed some light on him Tom_Toon? You seem to know everything about everyone! Could you compare him to somone in the EPL or even NUFC?

Also, I always thought Huntelaar was pretty good. No he’s not fast or especially creative, but we’ll have other players for that, plus he’s a “big name” (see above post). He’d have to fit into the Viduka role but if he can hold the ball up and finish well then I’m all for him. If not, then I’m not.

Right back is a position in which we need a player to cover yes, but not urgently. Left back is far harder to cover for players like Taylor so a specialist back-up is required, whereas the majority of players are right footed so could cover there at a pinch. Drawing a blank for names there though I’m afraid…

  • 13 Leo Smith // May 7, 2008 at 1:14

Oh, and apparently TalkSport (yeah yeah I know…) have just said we’re talking to Werder Bremen about the £20m transfer of Diego… don’t shoot the messenger…

  • 14 Tom_Toon // May 7, 2008 at 1:16

Sessegnon is just a winger and can play attacking mid.

The closest i could compare him to in NUFC is N’Zogbia. He is similar to Muntari (who can also play on the wing) and Mnauel Fernandes but not as good as either.

  • 15 Leo Smith // May 7, 2008 at 1:20

Awesome cheers - gives me a very good impression of him. Not sure he’d be worth it based on that!

  • 16 Hamas (51times) // May 7, 2008 at 1:28

leo smith - The sad fact is if you’re not a Champions League club you can only dream of players like Diego, don’t think there’s much truth in it. Maybe we’ll end up trying for him but I don’t think we’d get him, best not to get our hopes up…

  • 17 Leo Smith // May 7, 2008 at 1:31

Bah, I’m a stupid optimist, so I’ll believe/convince myself anything!

  • 18 Hamas (51times) // May 7, 2008 at 1:33

After the Modric thing I’m not getting hyped up about any transfer. I’ll just wait and see what happens with calm bemusement.

  • 19 Toon_Ksk // May 7, 2008 at 2:06

I expect good players to come and I’m eagerly awaiting next season.

  • 20 ToonDaft // May 7, 2008 at 2:25

Diego tied up in next couple of days!!!!
lmao, sorry folks… but imagine it :) come on fellas, make it true and make me happy!

  • 21 Toooooooooooooooooon // May 7, 2008 at 2:29

why alan smith is not one of the outgoing lists of players? he sux and when he play, we lose!

  • 22 Chris F // May 7, 2008 at 2:37

because until sam allardyce gets another job, no other manager will buy him.

  • 23 KKN39 // May 7, 2008 at 2:41

the fact is we can only get players from -
    1) relegating teams for their best players, e.g. Larsson, Zarate, Bullard, Barnes
    2) clubs in serious admin or financial trouble, e.g. David Silva, Joaquin, Zigic (well I don’t think Villa should even be mentioned as a possibility here)
    3) players in 2nd/3rd tier leagues abroad, e.g. Arshavin, Boussoufa, Chikhaoui, if they are not coveted by bigger clubs than us (or we can offer big $ fast enough)
i’d thank God again if we can tie up a couple of the above names, let alone VDV or Diego or Villa etc. (sound like jokes anyway)

  • 24 Kaz // May 7, 2008 at 2:59

Joaquin is good buy. Raul albidol is a good centre back. Maybe we could even get sergio kun aguero. And we have to keep smith as he could be a good back up if viduka is injured. All he has to do is score. Once he score,he will start to score more. He is a ‘never give up’ guy. Come smith,1 more much to score.

  • 25 Petey // May 7, 2008 at 4:14

damn, i really liked ramage aswel

We shud buy villa, silva and albiol all from valencia lol, swap them for erm, carr, ramage and troisi? good deal imo

But srsly, KK really has gone emo hasnt he? Its like the guy almost doesnt wanna be here.
Im not rlly arsed about getting top 4, we all know we cant really compete with those teams anymore, its not the 90’s. Theirs so much money a business in football its just unrealistic to hope to build a team up to superstardom within the space of at least 5 seasons. Chelski being exception i guess.
We will get players, us fans wont let ZERO players arrive, we just wont.

  • 26 Petey // May 7, 2008 at 4:24

oh and as for Joaquin, The guy reminds me too much of a certain fella names Luque.

  • 27 RyanTeh // May 7, 2008 at 4:28

I think right now, EPL is the business for all those rich bastard. Who willings to spend more. He/she will get the title.

  • 28 atainder // May 7, 2008 at 5:24

    For another option at forward:

    Jozy Altidore maybe?

  • 29 emre89 // May 7, 2008 at 5:27

  • 30 Callum // May 7, 2008 at 5:37

I would like Diatta to stay on, give him another 6month contract upto January and see how he does next season. :)

  • 31 Taiwantoon // May 7, 2008 at 5:38

No Duune plz. Faye is definately better than Duune.

  • 32 Stami - PLAY CARROLL // May 7, 2008 at 7:52

Huntelaar! any news on what this player is up to these days? would love to see him in the black and white strip!

Peter Crouch is a must for me, and im hoping that we see young andy Carroll in the 1st team next season!

    HOWAY THE LADS

  • 33 AZ // May 7, 2008 at 7:58

We need to stop thinking like chelsea, and more like arsenal. IMO. They have a knack of bringing in almost unheard of players cheaply and turning them into superstars. They havent really bought success ala chelski. I know this takes time, so we all need to be patient and give the club time. Buying big name has beens has backfired time and time again, and I wouldn’t buy anyone from spain ever again. We have to accept that we arent likely to break into top 4 any time soon, so now is the time to consolidate and rebuild for the future. I think this is what MA/Mort etc are working on, and not the instant success that so many think is our birthright. THINK ON!

  • 34 Nick Dryden // May 7, 2008 at 8:32

We have to consider we are emerging from years of gross mismanagmenet by Shepherd and his cronies. I really like the new board’s policy of finding and developing top notch youngsters. Why waste millions on has beens like Riise and average players like Dunne. It may take time for the young lads to make it, but I’d much rather have their hunger and motivation, plus a sensible wage structure in place.
Owen on £115 a week is unsustainable, especially given his countless games out injured and his awful potentially match winning MISSES against Blackburn, Portsmouth and Chelsea to name a few.
If there is a criticism of KK, he probably doesn’t deal with identifying young talent like Hypia years ago and indeed fatally scrapped the youth and reserve teams.
Alves for 4M. I don’t think so Ed. Try 23M as Tom Toon said.
And Kaz give your head a shake about Smith!!Smith should be the first one out followed by Duff.

  • 35 ELFER // May 7, 2008 at 8:32

one serious question; why do you always mention OLIC? I live in switzerland and I see all games of the german league and he’s absolutely crap! So why you mention all the time his name?

Is it just becouse stupid tottham did splash so much cash only to get LUKA?

  • 36 Hadji // May 7, 2008 at 9:04

Guys you heard this from me first.
KK is gonna be the 8th to leave, cause he has no support over his transfer targets.
Wise wants one player,KK doesnt want this player.
KK wants this guy,Wise doesnt like this guy..
Me personally i dont want KK to leave but the whole menagement team is doing things behind his back.
Either Wise will take his place or they’ll hire a foreigh manager.
I’m sure most of you guys you had a feeling lately that something’s changed in our club.

  • 37 Eric // May 7, 2008 at 9:11

Here we go again. The Daily Mail is trying to destabilise and disrupt NUFC with shite rumours about KK leaving over transfers and budgets and Wise taking his place. Can all NUFC fans please make a point and never buy this gutter press rag again. Those leaving us is pretty obvious but those coming in? The dirty tricks of the Mail is aimed at deterring players considereing Newcastle by creating lies about Keegan going. They know he is a magnet and can get some quality in - so they muck spread again.

  • 38 Gooderz // May 7, 2008 at 9:16

With the talk of trying to raid troubled Man City and Valencia, why not Leicester City as well.

We could try and nab their young LB Joe Mattock, who only turns 18 next week.

  • 39 Leo // May 7, 2008 at 9:24

    OUT IN

Carr someone in the mould of glenn johnson- quick and strong and young

    Rozehnal Cuellar …

    Ramage Bruno Alves …

    N’Zogbia Mcgeady …

    Troisi Arshavin …

    Ameobi Elmander/Pandev/Gomis …..

    Central Midfielder!!! Miguel Veloso

Left back- not too shorey on that one haha

veloso can play left back also…. theres my punt

  • 40 Fernando // May 7, 2008 at 9:26

we are going to get into the chammps league next season.. you just wait and see..

  • 41 Eric // May 7, 2008 at 9:26

Paper gossip says Sol Campbell is going to be surplus at Pompey. We were linked (not sure who by) and he would be helpful for Taylor? Diarra seems to be coming back into the frame as well. Both EPL experienced and both seem to be seen as cast-offs.

  • 44 steve // May 7, 2008 at 9:37

Hopefully we’ll get rid of Smith as well - (responsible for non marking of Ballack which led to first goal!!!) - as soon as we saw him come on we all said we’d lose

Not sure about Zoggy - maybe his agent has told him that no one actually wants to buy him

Decent piece about toon in the times this morning - reality bites hard

  • 45 tapir // May 7, 2008 at 9:47

    Hadji,
if its true who u reckon will succeed KK?
Sven or that JUve manager-french one (i forgot his name lol)?

  • 46 najikhin // May 7, 2008 at 9:50

guys.. i really think that hadji got it right.. i think there is actually a war behind the scene between Keegan who is obviously alone against Wise,Jimenez,CM and MA..so guys, take your side plz.. as for me, i am going to be on KK’s side..

  • 48 Taiwantoon // May 7, 2008 at 9:57

I have a bad feeling like Hadji too, but hope i am wrong. The situation is just so wierd.

    I will always behind KK.

  • 49 Obafan // May 7, 2008 at 10:01

Campbell would be a good CB for us. I also hope Diatta stays, cause to be honnest it is impossible to have an opinion about him, cause he never played.

OUT - IN (we need more in than out !)
Carr - young RB to cover Beye
    Ramage - Campbell
    Troisi - Arshavin
    Ameobi - Gomis
    N’Zogbia - Reyes
    Rozehnal - Cuellar
    Smith - SWP

    LB: Riise / Bridge
    CDM: Gattuso / Veloso
CAM: Diego / Van der Vaart

I know to get them all is not realistic, but I think we might get a few of the above list. Let’s wait and see what happens.

The papers are writing lots of stuff about NUFC, we will see which of them are true. Let’s hope the positives are all true and the negatives are bull sh*t.

  • 50 Macas // May 7, 2008 at 10:07

  • 52 Taiwantoon // May 7, 2008 at 10:10

That’s good. An aging Cambell is still way better than Dunne.

  • 53 AZ // May 7, 2008 at 10:17

Guys, MA/Mort appointed KK, so why would he be leaving now? This is all bull surely. I’m sure that none of us expect to buy success on the scale of Chelsea, and I am sure KK realises this too, it doesn’t mean he wants out though. He can still do a good job for the next 3 years, and get this club playing good football again. Thats a start. If all goes well he will get a longer contract like ferguson at manure, and eventually will be in a position to get all the players he wants. But first things first, and we need stability at the club. Success will follow. Keep the Faith.

  • 54 azim // May 7, 2008 at 10:18

Arsenal dont have big starts and still can play well ..they also dont spend too much but still in the top 4..and why dont we Mr KK? Be optimistic..how u play smart and play together counts Mr KK..

“I wasn’t taken aback by Kevin’s comments. He says what he feels. We have just come out of a relegation battle so you can’t have people surprised when the manager says we aren’t going to get into the Champions League.

I just saw the posts above with people wanting campbell. He isnt good enough for pompey(they are looking to replace him with a 10 mill brazilian) yet he is good enough for newcastle.I guess pompey have more pulling power nowdays and more financial muscle.

Can you please stop kidding yourselves about getting players like gattuso, swp, cuellar(off to spurs), diarra(off to spurs), arshavin(off to spurs), gomis(to bolton) and veloso(well out of your league). Dunne, bullard, campbell, risse and maybe resign big titus. These players are good enough to grace your ground and i can see them becoming legends.

Oh look, it’s the spuds idiot again, everyone wave! Seriously, if you have nothing else to do then I really pity you you sad sad little man. I seem to remember that Campbell was too good for Spurs at some point and jumped ship to Arsenal on a free? Well done on the Carling Cup, you deserved it. Yes it was a pity we didn’t get Woodgate or Modric but that’s life. I get on with it. I will not be going onto a Spurs website like this (if there even is one) when we beat you next season to scream “big club!” like a small child. It’s boring, and I have far better things to do with my life.

We’ll discuss our club on here thanks, and give our opinions, regardless of what spurs idiots like yourself might claim to think.

  • 60 Obafan // May 7, 2008 at 10:52

Shearer - just shut the f*ck up man. If you are only here to talk rubbish than leave and try to find a Spurs blog. But I’m not so sure lots of people are interested in talking about Spurs, so that is why you have come here.

  • 61 steve // May 7, 2008 at 11:01

@shearer - if spurs buy that lot they’ll be bust within two seasons - ENIC are looking to offload thier shareholding due to huge losses in sub prime market - you’ll get 20 million for Berbatov but next to nowt for Jenas, Bent, Lennon and absolutely nowt for Huddlestone, Dawson and the rest

Your wage bill needs to be covered by match day attendance and with your measly 30k theres no way you can afford to pay Chelsea / Man Utd type wages without being in Champs league consistently (something you’ve never been in)
It’s a catch 22 you need to consistently spend and hope you make top four before going bust or dont spend 100 million a season and hope to get UEFA cup slot

I love coming on here because you are the most deluded fans in the country. You put a smile on my face with your wild claims about your club. I dont need to defend spurs because we win things. You lot have more in common with the boros and sunderlands of the league, and i expect you to be battling it out for the same mediocre players. newcastle should have the advantage though as you have a history of paying those average players loads of money. It must be great to sit back and remember your hayday 12 seasons ago.Shame you didnt win anything though!!

Another one who will definitely be leaving is Duff. Did no one else notice at the end of the Chelsea game he went straight down the tunnel while the rest of the squad stayed o the pitch to applaud the fans.

Hey, it’s the Tottenham untermensch again. Posting from your synagogue are you?

  • 66 Rob West Australia // May 7, 2008 at 12:36

We should give Smith away in a raffle he is only good for third division football. He gets worse the more he plays. My first player to go in the summer.Let him go to Rangers on a free transfer.

  • 67 Dondatta13 // May 7, 2008 at 12:45

Every one should be expecting me to say this lol

Can I have a B&W Van man …. GO GET VAN DER VAART!

There, now that, thats out of my system. I think everyone can sense that not all is well behind the doors at SJP. MORT or rather Mr Wart! needs to reel his neck in. I dont like the guy, has he got the supporters best interests at heart? I think NOT!

What the fans would like Mr Wart (Pardon me for speaking on behalf of many fans, as some self elected spokesman) Is for KK to be backed in the transfer market. That includes getting a new contract on the table for Owen & Taylor (Why the delay, you wanted our saftey assured). We acheived that weeks ago!

MR ASHLEY, WE HAVE SUFFERED AT THE HANDS OF BAFFOONS RUNNING OUR CLUB FOR YEARS. WE ARE SICK OF IT.

You appointed a manager that the fans want. Dont go pushing him out the door to be replaced by WISE. I think you will feel the wrath of the Toon Army. You wont be sitting with the fans if you do that I can tell you!

We are Newcastle UNITED … lets UNITE!

  • 68 mark // May 7, 2008 at 13:05

wudnt buy Cuellar look at boumsong he got found pretty quickly my 2yr old son cud defend in that league

  • 69 Petworth Mag // May 7, 2008 at 13:06

Apparently Everton will not be taking up the option on Manny Fernandes. They think 12M is too much.

With our pockets’ being that much deeper might be worth a punt?

  • 70 scott9 // May 7, 2008 at 16:29

i think these wud be realistic signings
    Stephane Sessegnon
    dunne
    shorey
    gomis
van der Vaart type player in hes a bit unrealistic but im saying someone like him

  • 71 lee // May 7, 2008 at 16:56

shearer you say you win things you have won 1 trophy in how long and since the premier league started you have been in the champions league how many times to be honest we probably wont get names like gattusso but we are just as big of a pulling power if not biiger than you fair enough you got modric and woodgate but we have only just begun and dont try and kid yourself youre a big club when even sunderland, city, verton, geet bigger crowds and leeds arent to far off tottenham have had a lucky few seasons but lets face it they have never made a real impact on the premier league you have finished fifth a couple of times where as newcastle since we have been iin the premier league have mounted title challenges been in the champions league and uefa cup on a regular basis beeas well as 3 semis in the uefa cup and f.a cup and also played in 2 finals yes i no we lost those games and you did get lucky in one year in a cup that to be honest none of the big guns care to much about other wise borough would not have won it a few years ago

  • 72 ED // May 7, 2008 at 17:19

am i the only one who picked up on the name cisse? PLEASE NO!

also, cuellar could end up another boumsong, riise is past it, and I reckon that D Bent would be a waste of money, as spurs would want upwards of 10 mil.

Crouch would be a possibility, especially if Viduka spends another season picking up niggly injuries. Apparently he wants to talk to Benitez about his situation as well…

Does anyone think there is any chance of getting elano?

  • 74 craig chisholm // May 7, 2008 at 17:34

i think it’ll be alot more than 7 lads. you have only mentioned the crap ones. there is a distinct possibliity that we will also loose, owen, martins, emre and duff. to name a few. that coupled withthe fact that we have a chairman that thinks spending three quid is alot on a player, i think we should all get down the park and start working on our game, we will have a decent shot at making the team next season. oh yes, add a manager to that list too cos i think kk is getting dicked around and will do a runner unless they start to take him seriously.

  • 75 toon_mad // May 7, 2008 at 17:50

i think that crouch would be mint for us, and gattuso would also be a great signing

  • 76 yahya ahmad // May 7, 2008 at 18:53

Why dont we go for Fabricio Collocini. A world class defender!

  • 77 Lawman // May 7, 2008 at 19:25

Totally agree with Leo…. a team with Owen, Martins, Henry and Gatusso (IF we can sign them) would provide us with the sort of pulling power we lack - due to no european football, for the likes of VDV and Diego

  • 78 Spelling Police // May 7, 2008 at 20:28

    Lee,
try using capital letters, full stops and paragraphs and people may bother to read what you write.
