There is an important meeting today in London, as we know, between Mike Ashley and Kevin Keegan, but there’s also another important meeting taking place in the capital today that will interest Newcastle fans.

Steven Taylor - contract talks start today
That’s a meeting that will also have an impact on Newcastle’s future success.
Tony Jimenez will be meeting with Steven Taylor’s new agent Leon Angel, and start negotiations to complete a new contract for Steven, that will hopefully see him stay at Newcastle for at least another four or even five years.
Until now Steven’s father Alf has handled the negotiations, but we feel it was a good decision that they let a professional handle the negotiations, and we already know Steven is very keen, to say the least, to stay at Newcastle United and play under Kevin Keegan.
This is good news, and it looks like the club are acting on Keegan’s request to secure, on long term contracts, the very good players he wants to stay at the club.
Michael Owen is of course another player we’ll be keeping, along with Steven Harper.
Comments welcome.

Anyone heard something about the meeting with KK, Wise and MA?
2 Benn..Geordie Down South // May 9, 2008 at 13:22

3 ronaldeano // May 9, 2008 at 13:26
Keegan got his bum smacked and has been sent to bed with no supper. he has also been grounded for 2 weeks!
4 Ant // May 9, 2008 at 13:27
Benn, please don’t mention Keegan getting the sack again.
I died a little inside.
5 ToonDaft // May 9, 2008 at 13:31
hopefully talks will start and end today… with Taylor agreeing to a five year deal!
6 obafemimartins // May 9, 2008 at 13:39
if i was judging on what players we would miss most owen would be top of my list so get his contract done first. but good news anyway hope he stays for a long long time

KK will be politely getting his knuckles wrapped for his out of order comments after the Chelsea game.
They were private thoughts he should only voice to the board and NEVER to Sky Sports.
That part of the meeting will be quick and I’m sure KK will understand he should’ve kept his feelings out of the media.
Then they will thrash out transfers deals for players they want to bring in, and make sure they get the majority of them.
Then they will have a nice glass of wine, and look forward to well earned summer holiday

News just in.
Newcastle are going all guns blazing to win the EPL next year. Keegans word lit a fire under Ashley’s enormous ego, and Eidur Gudjonsen will sign within the next 24hrs. Michael Owen has already signed his contract, with Taylor to follow before tea time tonight.
Also Richard Dunne is expected on Tyneside on Monday to complete his switch with Shaun Wright Philips in preliminery talks with Wise and Jimenez.
It’s all true. Very reliable source.

Michael - not the Sportsmail tea room by any chance?
10 ronaldeano // May 9, 2008 at 13:46
News just in… Keegans pocket money has been stopped until MA feels that he has learned his lesson!
God i hate the media!!

would it honestly suprise anyone if it came flashing up on screen that big mike had sacked the king?
12 ronaldeano // May 9, 2008 at 13:49
Big Mike loves Keegan man!
The press can put stupid thaughts into your heed! Lets not belive them

chelsea are chasing veloso ..
great !
14 Ant // May 9, 2008 at 13:51
I would love it if they didn’t even discuss transfers. It was summed up in one sentence by Big Mike “Kevin mate, let’s show those cockney, mank and scouse tits a lesson, if you want a player he’s yours, any price, any player, Thierry’s already on a plane.”
It’s as likely as us having to fight to get in the top 10 next season, the teams fighting for Europe at the moment are terrible we should easily have 5th. 4th isn’t impossible with our current set of players IMO.
Martins, Owen, Zog, Butt, Faye, Beye, Enrique…All fantastic for us this season despite dips in form from Butt and Enrique(although José never dipped in form, people just decided he did. He’s been excellent, outshone of course by Beye)

alll guns blazing next year, we get richard Dun ..Jesus christ..watch our man U

Any suicide bombers headin to White heart lane next season?
17 Leo // May 9, 2008 at 13:52
haha ronaldeano hes had his bum slapped too
but as every parent alike they always still love eachother after an arguement, therefore keegan will be given big money im sure of that

Thats about the worst news I have heard all week, now I am really depressed.
Is Dunne really signing for us. The idiot doesn’t even know how to foul properly, still I suppose Taylor can teach him thats assuming the opposition stand still so he (Dunne) can actually catch them. Blimey even Carr is faster than him.
19 Paul R // May 9, 2008 at 13:55
WHAT !? R u taking something michael ??
20 John // May 9, 2008 at 13:55
mcgeady is over rated…..h’s only playing in scotland..its hardly a good league
21 ronaldeano // May 9, 2008 at 13:56
@ Leo, as long as he says sory and he will never do it again, im sure he will get an increase in his pocket money!
22 John // May 9, 2008 at 13:59
aparentley were after someone called Mbia …he plays for Rennes…
Anyone know anything about the fella? its come from TriBULL though
http://www.tribalfootball.com/article.php?id=91992
23 Hamas (51times) // May 9, 2008 at 14:03
McGeady has a bit of flair but I wouldn’t be too upset if we lost out on him, as I don’t think he’ll be anything special in the PL. Also tribal says we’re after M’bia…anybody seen him play much?
24 Bill F // May 9, 2008 at 14:05
Valle, I’m just waiting for the Spuds to have a financial implosion as they emulate Leeds.
25 michael // May 9, 2008 at 14:07
When I said reliable source what I really meant was…
I made it up.
We can hope can’t we. Also if it does come true I’m going to work as a psychic detective.
Also Alan Smith has probably cost us a place in Europe now that England has topped the fair play UEFA league.
26 valle // May 9, 2008 at 14:08
Bill F… Haha, would love that, i must admit i have come to hate spurs
27 michael // May 9, 2008 at 14:13
Yeah, Looks like Man City have just become front runners for that freak UEFA cup spot. Allardyce’s strong arm tactics have cost us dear, as we are nowhere near it.
28 obafemimartins // May 9, 2008 at 14:14
Spurs are also ready to beat Newcastle to the signing of Celtic winger Aidan McGeady. (Mirror)
From the BBC. I will be going to Spurs but not as a suicide bomber. I will try to get ramos to stop buying players we want.

could we sue manchester united for selling us alan smith as a ‘footballer’ ?
we might get some money that way !
30 Callum // May 9, 2008 at 14:16
Any news yet?
It’s been 3 hours
31 geordie nick // May 9, 2008 at 14:29
michael wat u talkin about alan smith cost us, i think ull find tht nicky butt is the most booked player in the premiership so how can u possibly blame smith
32 Hamas (51times) // May 9, 2008 at 14:32
He’s the only one that got a red, for one.
33 Callum // May 9, 2008 at 14:34
Smith and Butt
But at least Butt put in some good performances, Smith has got to be one of our biggest flops
34 geordie nick // May 9, 2008 at 14:38
yeh he did get red but he got quite a few less yellows than butt, its down to both of them, but thts the way those two play simple as tht, at the end of the day we dont deserve to be in europe on this seasons performance, you should get into europe on performance not for how many yellow/red cards u get
35 LyNx18 // May 9, 2008 at 14:39
I just wonder, how come all the potential player that NUFC targeted, totenham will try to intercept from us…urghhh…I starting to hate tottenham!
36 Hamas (51times) // May 9, 2008 at 14:50
I’ve hated Tottenham for years now, remember that timed we thrashed the Yids 7 - 1? Man I hope somebody killed themselves over that.
37 valle // May 9, 2008 at 15:20
michael… Sounds great, but how reliable are that source?, are we talking upper bracket within St. James and has he been right with these sort of info’s before?
38 valle // May 9, 2008 at 15:22
What makes me hate spurs the most are properly their arrogant fans… Never before have i encountered an entire following of a certain football club who all had that same charecter flaw.
39 Dondatta13 // May 9, 2008 at 15:50
PLEASE FOR THE LOVE OF GOD CAN WE SLAP IN A BID FOR VAN DER VAART?
Just a bid … £12 - £15Mill to test the water … please … go on … ahh man … I did say please
P.S KK nearly resigned when we beat the Spuds 7-1 that time lol he said he felt sorry for Gerry Francis
haha classic!

UPDATE …
Hi, just saw this link … Apparently we have slapped down a 20 Million Euro offer on the table for Veloso. Im not sure how reliable this site is …
http://www.portugoal.net/Sporting0708/200805095NewcastleVelosoBid.htm
Id like him at SJP … and Van der Vaart also
41 Scott H11 // May 9, 2008 at 17:44
Dont know why its took so long, he’ll get a five year contract and they’ll give him whatever he wants. Many season ticket holders I’ve spoken to would give him the taxi fare out of St James. I dont think he’s that bad but he’s not the player he or Alan Oliver thinks he is.
42 bailey // May 9, 2008 at 19:02
If people really think Taylor is a Premier League player then the moon really is made of cheese.
Same goes for Dunne.
43 Bill F // May 9, 2008 at 19:23
Bailey nice to see some one agree with me re. Dunne.
But surely you know that the Moon is comprised mainly of Wensleydale with outcrops of Stinky Bishop and other very smelly cheeses. I know this from that well informed educational film by a Mr Wallace and his companion Grommitt.
44 valle // May 10, 2008 at 0:08
Saying that Taylor and Dunne aint premier league standard is going a little over the top, i think the league they both appear to play reasonable in atm is called premier league.
45 Russel // May 10, 2008 at 2:48
Michael Owen is facing a £2m pay cut as Keegan and Ashley strike a fragile truce at Newcastle
