Peter Ramage was quickly picked up and signed by Queens Park Rangers today.

Kevin Keegan wanted to keep Peter Ramage, but as in his previous contract negotiation with Graeme Souness 3 years ago, he wants first team football.
And Kevin in truth couldn’t guarantee him that but still wanted to keep him part of the squad.
It was a classy act by Kevin to give Peter Ramage a late bow ob Sunday, and at the end apparently Peter was in tears.
The Newcastle manager talked to the Evening Chronicle today:
“This is a great club, and wherever Peter Ramage goes, it won’t be to a club as big as this.â€
“He knows that, but it will be to a club where he plays every week. He’s got to go and play regular football.”
“He’s not 16, 17 or 18 any more, he’s 24.â€
“But I would like to take his heart, and put it in the dressing room at Newcastle. The one thing he has is a massive heart.â€
A great compliment from Kevin, and we’re sure the QPR fans will be seeing these reports and we can assure them they have a fine young player and a great guy in Peter Ramage.
Peter oozes courage and determination and will be a big success in London.
It does seem that Peter has no fears of going down to London to play for QPR, even though they sacked their manager Luigi Di Canio earlier this week.
However, Iain Dowie was this morning appointed as the new manager at Loftus Road, and we know that Dowie thinks highly of the Ashington-born center-back, because he tried to sign Ramage when he was Coventry manager.
Despite losing Ramage, Newcastle have, as expected, decided not to extend Senegal captain Lamine Diatta’s contract at Newcastle.
That was to be expected, since if he was that good enough, we would have expected him to have pushed his way into the first team, before the end of the season.
We expect one, if not two new center-backs will be joining the club in the summer.

Nice tribute from Kevin for the young lad. He never did that much wrong. It’s a pity his injury ruled out any chance he had of cementing his place in the side. Good luck to him.

Dr Who has two but that doesn’t make him a great footballer. If he (Ramage) was that well thought of by KK he would have persuaded him to stay. It’s nice of KK to say things like that but!!

Still remember his awful back pass against Man U which Rooney latched onto and scored. Good lad though and had passion for the club. All the best to him in the Championship next season.

All the best at QPR, a good move i think for Ramage i reckon Rangers will be in the top 6 next year pushing for promotion!
