Newcastle’s former captain, Geremi, is currently on World Cup qualifying duty with the Cameroon side.

Geremi - complete faith in Kevin Keegan
And Geremi talked to the Evening Chronicle today looking forward to next season on Tyneside:
“Everything is set up to succeed, without a doubt.â€
“We have everything to do it with the facilities. And not to mention the fans. Every week St James’ Park is full.”
“That’s a big thing – it’s exciting. When you play you want to fight for those people and try to win something.”
“When you win matches they are happy so it inspires you to do well.â€
Geremi insists that since Kevin Keegan arrived back on Tyneside, he has slowly but surely instilled confidence in his players, which started to show during the last 10 games of the season, when we put together a very impressive run.
It did take 9 games for Kevin to register his first win back at Newcastle, and of course the tabloid press had a field day with that. But Kevin had them eating their words when the tunraround came.
Geremi continued:
“Kevin will try to do it his own way and the way he knows. He doesn’t do things like anybody else.”
“If you remember when we were struggling, he was telling us that the training is good.”
“He said don’t worry about the results, they will come – and he was right.”
“If you look at the Blackburn match, we were the greater team but we lost the game.”
“That’s football, but he told us afterwards that things will come, and it did.”
“We trained well, and we were playing well and scoring goals.â€
Geremi is certainly right about that.
Kevin said as soon as he arrived that the squad he had inherited was a good one but that the confidence was low.
He kept saying that once the team got their first win, everything would be fine, and once we beat Fulham 2-0, after doing everything against Blackburn but score in the previous home game, the team hardly looked back.
So Kevin certainly knows what he’s talking about, and to be honest we cannot wait for next season to start because we feel success in the air already.
But we do need to sign some very good players in the summer first.
Comments welcome.

i think we all think kk is good for us, no news there. however i like most other die hards are wondering what the hell is going on at newcastle utd at the minute!! we are not trying to re-sign who we have and we are not going after who keegan wants anyway. unlike geremi and benitez, i am not over confident for next season, not as things stand now.

We do seem to do much better with geremi in the team than without him so e adds something to the team. However we need someone far more reliable for our free kicks and someone with more pace as he is on his last legs. He is also not the sort of a player you would sub in unless an injury took place. He would not inject needed creativity if we were down one nil or nil all at home and he would not provide much defence if we were trying to hold a lead, Keep him in the squad but have his replacement set up for the start of the next season,

Geremi is right next season is going to be good but we need those players I wil go 4 Cuellar, Shorey, Emana and Turan. The Entertainers.
………………………..GIVEN…………………………
..BEYE……….CUELLAR….FAYE……SHOREY

For me the most important question is how would KK like to play…I mean it’s obvious that he prefers an attacking style - but the question is will he stay by 4-3-3 or swith back to 4-4-2? What about:
………………………..GIVEN…………………………
..BEYE……….CUELLAR….FAYE……SHOREY
………………………..EMANA…………………..
……………………………………………GEREMI…………..
…………SWP…………..
………………………..OWEN(c)………………………
………..GOMIS…………………….MARTINS…..

Graeme, compared to the other stories on this blog recently, this is more relevant than anything else. It has quotes for starters.

Geremi will be a part of next seasons squad. So will a lot of last seasons players. I just hope Smith is not one of them, or Barton. Priority is getting Owen, Martins, and Zog signed, sealed and delivered. Vacant squad numbers tell us a lot. Wise seems to be hunting for players too young to pay income tax and numbered 50 t0 60!

Graeme, give it a rest. If you think its a waste of space then just keep quiet

We know it better than Geremi, don’t we?

How boring has this summer been please?

I agree with Leo - this is just a plee to keegan to keep his job! same goes for a few other players which have been in the media!!
Geremi is an average player who can’t cross a ball why do so many fans want to see him still at SJP next season! get rid of all the C**P!!!
We need players in but with “QUALITY” with youth on the right side!!
we might as well forget about players such as Veloso, Gomis, Gomez etc because Ashley wants to spend as little as possible! that is why we are being linked more with cheaper less quality players!

tbh i wouldn mind roughly the same squad next yr, even geremi wouldnt do too bad. he adds experience and leadership to the team and isnt bad at defending. keep the same formation but as i recall every1 was agreed a few weeks bc that we only needed 3-4 players and the transfer window isnt technically open till july 1st
