Sky Sports is reporting today that Tottenham Hotspur do not want to part with their England International winger, Aaron Lennon this summer.

Aaron Lennon - Spurs don’t want to sell
Recent reports had indicated that Kevin Keegan and Newcastle may be interested in the 21 year-old, who played in 47 of the Spurs’ 57 games last season.
Lennon, not surprisingly, has also been mentioned as a possible player in a part exchange with Blackburn Rovers midfielder, David Bentley, who Spurs have been strongly linked with during the summer.
It seems like Spurs’ intentions with Lennon exactly mirror those of Newcastle with our own James Milner, who is still being linked with a potential move to Aston Villa.
The clubs don’t want to sell, unless a good offer comes in, but the offer would need to be extra special in both cases, for the clubs to consider selling.
Sky Sports is saying that the 21-year-old Leeds-born player is definitely in their Spanish manager Juande Ramos’ plans, for the coming season.
Ramos is said not to be unwilling to let Lennon go, as either part exchange bait, or in straight cash transfer. Certainly Spurs don’t seem to be short of transfer cash this summer.
Lennon is under contract at Tottenham until 2012, and has already made almost 120 appearances for the club, since joining them from his home town team Leeds United in 2005.
The youngster will be part of the Spurs squad that heads out to sunny Spain, for a pre-season training camp later this month.
We think Lennon would be a great buy for Newcastle, if only we could him for around £8M.
But that probably will not happen.

Shame, he’s better than Milner
2 Tom_Toon // Jul 6, 2008 at 15:22
Who cares, we got Gutierrez now who can play both wings, we dont need another winger now.

Lennon is a impact player, he would make a great sub to throw on when there is 20 minutes to go.
He is proven in the Premier Leagues, Jonas isn’t; from what I have seen of him last season (only twice from memory) he seems a lot better tracking back than going forward. Have “Spiderman” contain the opposing fullback and when he is shattered, throw on pacey Lennon.
We are in desperate need of pace, in the current squad the only two that you can name with genuine speed are Martins and N’Zogbia.
I agree that we need to strengthen in other areas as a priority, but if an oppertunity arises to sign Lennon then it would be foolish not to capitalise.

although I didn’t really want Lennon I think we need another winger! as Zog would be a good AM’er + what happens if we get injuries?
5 Tom_Toon // Jul 6, 2008 at 15:34
Lualua, N’Zogbia, Milner and Jonas can all play on the wings.
Duff is buggering off, hopefully.

does anyone realise how good of a signing jonas was? he i alot better than the likes of arda.
7 Tom_Toon // Jul 6, 2008 at 15:38
Dunno, i’ve barely seen Jonas, but Arda looked far overrated.
8 fernando // Jul 6, 2008 at 15:45
geordie gerrard if you had signed arda you would be claiming he is better than jonas. I bet you havent even seen jonas play and if you have seen a bit of la liga he wouldnt have stood out. He is not a better player than lennon.
Spiderman films have always been a big dissapointment and i think this player will follow suit.

Guti and Milner same type of “physical” winger (tho Guti in much better form last season). and Milner may be sold anyway. 17 yr old LuaLua is great prospect but we dont expect him to play more than 20 games as sub do we? only Zog in the mould of top-class winger who can open up defence by himself, create and score. so we need at least one more playmaker-type winger/AM, like Modric or Arda, unless we continue to play 433. but in this case we will need at least one Arshavin-like striker (but of coz not Arsha himself). so big bucks to be spent anyway …

i disagree spiderman films are really good watch
so now we signed jonas we have a bit more pace but central midfield needs some real lightening quick footballers
we have- nzogbia martins jonas owen lualua who are quick
people like butt milner barton etc. arnt bad footballers by anymeans but we lacked pace and they dont have high enough pace level

For to long know have talents like Lualua been wasted by Newcastle because o our refusal to play them because they are ‘too young’, its utter BS.
12 HATE PRAWN SANDWICHES // Jul 6, 2008 at 15:55
Are they good enough?
13 Pete // Jul 6, 2008 at 16:06
LuaLua would struggle in the Championship, he is way too weak for the premiership.
14 Tom_Toon // Jul 6, 2008 at 16:08
Didnt look too weak agains the brutish Stoke, who will know probably be the most strong, agressive team i the prem when he took it around about 4 of their players.
15 Geordie Gerrard7 // Jul 6, 2008 at 16:28
fernando, hmm yeah, i suppose u must be rite. knobhead, i watch hell of alot of spanish football and yes jonas does stand out alot. arda is a good player dont get me wrong but jonas is very good, quick, not too skillfull, very direct(wich we need) and uses both feet, good passer of the ball, great crosser of the ball and tracks back very well. he doesnt get on the scoresheet all that often, but creates alot of goals and is just what we have been crying out for on the wings this year
16 Pete // Jul 6, 2008 at 16:38
He didn’t take it around four of their players, I think you may have been at a different match?
Stoke are not “brutish”.
The lad has great skill, and is a very exciting unpredictable prospect - he is just not quite ready for the hustle and bustle of the EPL.
17 Tom_Toon // Jul 6, 2008 at 16:44
Stoke are the biggest brutes in the prem now, they play proper hoofball, even more than Bolton.
18 The Entertainers // Jul 6, 2008 at 16:53
I think with the new lad in from Mallorca a LW is more of a priority.
Yes i do know the Argie plays on the left a lot, but prefer my wingers to play on there natural wing.
However to slightly contadict myself if we have Arda too, i believe he is another right footed LW, this would enable us to keep switching players and i think this is a tremendous tactic to use in matches.
19 Geordie Gerrard7 // Jul 6, 2008 at 16:53
pete u kidding me saying that stoke arent brutes? any stoke fan would admit thats how they went up last year.
20 Spyro // Jul 6, 2008 at 17:14
Stoke = Bolton
21 Spyro // Jul 6, 2008 at 17:15
Fernando is pathetic, dont answer him, he is on here more than some of the actual toon fans lol
22 Yahya Ahmad // Jul 6, 2008 at 17:32
Shame! I woudve loved him if he joined Newcastle!
23 Dan13 // Jul 6, 2008 at 18:17
i’ve seen lua lua on many occasions for the reserves and he seems pretty weak, he’s skillful and has pace but the like john terry would eat him
24 Nobby's Dad // Jul 6, 2008 at 20:26
Said it a million times - no good, will not improve.Typical over rated English player. For all who rate him….watch him closely next season - end product nil. Speed isn’t the be all and end all if there is nothing at the end.
25 WIGAZ // Jul 6, 2008 at 21:43
I like the player but he’s got no end product! i would rather have SWP in a heartbeat lads, he’s got a better cross on him & he can score more goals! but to be fair we now have jonas, zog, milner, still duff & lua lua comin through! i dont think we’ll buy another winger now, we’ll see a CB LB DM AM & CF comin in i hope! that would make it 6 in total, hell of an ask but i’d like to see Quality CB in=Cueller/evans LB=Shorey/Bridge DM=Inhler AM= Aimar CF=Bent/guiza/Derdiyok. I kno most of you will think BENT? but he is a good player & he think he could be a huge hit at SJP! Like Cole mark 2!
