hopefully they are working on the transfers because it seems like we need some more players!
2 ToonTimbo // Jul 19, 2008 at 20:40
it doesnt sound like we will sign someone or have signed someone for mondays press conference!!
3 ToonTex // Jul 19, 2008 at 20:43
Ok– we have just under 4 weeks until the opener. We need AT LEAST 4 more senior players. Starting Monday we better be hearing of bodies walking thru the door. Get em in — get em settled — lets go!!!

Surely he said be saying ‘There are’ rather than ‘There’s got to be’… saying ‘There’s got to be’ is almost an appeal to elsewhere for there to be transfers coming in, rather than he making the decisions by a firm ‘Yes, there are more transfers in the pipeline’.
Just an observation.

KK did`nt seem too convinced with tranfer dealings……good result and interview tho.
6 Hadrian // Jul 19, 2008 at 20:53
yeah gotta admit , it looks like he’s resigned himself to taking a back seat .
he was covering his back there and getting the point across its out of his hands .
first team is his only domain now .
lets hope wise can be a better judge of character for players than keegan , and is better at selling them the club , as thats how it stands atm .
we either like it or lump it , but id prefer to see us back our messia and demend he be given a more hands on role with our recruitment and actually getting the players to sign the deals .
keven basically said , its over to your ashley and wise , please get this club a squad it deserves .
on a similar note, this isnt the kevin from last time , he would have demanded more hands on role himself , maybe he did at london meeting , but he’s obviously not came away with the things he would have demanded in the past .
lets hope he has faith in the regime that we dont , but im not to sure , i reckon he’s here as a way for ashley to buy himself some love .

i prefer these blogs when we are all giving our opinon on players that we will never sign but its good!!
So wot does everyone think of all these south americans we are being linked with!!
8 GazzaToon // Jul 19, 2008 at 20:55
seriously you guys have to calm down 4 weeks is a very long time in football. like he said they r waiting for other clubs to bring in players to free up the players we are looking at. i have total faith in kk and the rest of the board as everyone was moaning about no signings then we signed spider man and guthrie. just because we are not hearing anything doesnt mean we dont have them comming in!

I liked the look of that cheeky little grin KK threw in at the end. I think he knows something.
10 normski1930z // Jul 19, 2008 at 21:07
thats face it ….if come august 16th and we havnt brought at least 3 new players in we are gonna have problems coz look at the team as an overall we do not have strength in depth. just take a good long look at the subs bench today… tells you everything you need to know??
11 Hadrian // Jul 19, 2008 at 21:17
ameritoon, i had that grin down to “i hope something bloody happens”
12 UTD111 // Jul 19, 2008 at 21:17
I thought Kev sounded a bit subdued - and kind of had a veiled go at the “recruitment team” and Ashley the barrow boy. I think there is a possibility he might walk away……
13 Matt // Jul 19, 2008 at 21:18
No surprise to see people on here reading too much into things.
14 UTD111 // Jul 19, 2008 at 21:28
With respect Matt, I’ve followed United since 1962 - I’ve been through all the ups and downs (mainly downs) - and Kev doesnt seem happy to me. I also don’t trust the cockney barrow boy or his cross-eyed sidekick. And if Sir Kevin goes - Sir Alan won’t touch the present setup with a barge pole mate.
15 Bill F SPLASH THE CASH ASH // Jul 19, 2008 at 21:39
Well I’m taking the glass half full option, I reckon there are players in the pipeline. Lets face it we have spent less than anyone so far even Stoke have splashed out over £5m on a player. I still think KK is being a little gagged since that meeting and vague innuendo is the only thing he can use.
MA isn’t stupid though and will realise we have to get players and as Gazza Toon said 4 weeks is a long time in football. Still the quicker we get them the sooner KK can bed them in.
16 Matt // Jul 19, 2008 at 21:44
The thing is utd111 people read far too much into whats said in the paper.
Now Newcastle managers have never played a big part in bringing players in, it just hasn’t happened, anyone remember Souness’s interview at the airport when he was asked about the bid for Anelka? “You had better ask the chairman” was his reply because it wasn’t his job to bring players in, it was Freddie Shepherd’s, then it was Kenny Shepherd’s and now it’s Tony Jimenez.
Does Keegan get to speak to the players? Well Terry Mac was saying that he’s been on the phone to potential targets a few weeks back, the French lad who’s having a trial has also said Keegan has been speaking to his agent about him so I think we can rule that theory out too.
Why people need to over analyze every comment made I’m not sure but they really do seem to be making something out of nothing.
17 Stay Tooned // Jul 19, 2008 at 21:49
I personally think that Kevin is trying not to give anything away regarding the transfers. I don’t know how people can guess how KK is feeling!
18 Hadrian // Jul 19, 2008 at 21:55
staytooned ,
years of watching kevin is a good way to get a feel for the way he thinks , he’s honesty is his strongest asset .
then again , he was one for getting one over on the media .
19 beye the great // Jul 19, 2008 at 22:00
in keegan we trust he will bring the players through and as a thought for your site why dont you link up with some other fanzines to help bring the toon world closer maybe you could all have links to eachothers site such as yoonultras beyewatch newcastle .mad dr gloom and others
20 Midjew // Jul 19, 2008 at 22:01
First of all UTD111 dont read too much into as Matt said.
Looks good to me, he seemed happy preoccupied but thats a good thing, thinking about possible transfers etc etc.
Cant wait for new season.
For me we need a new:
1x Cb - A Starter
1x Lb- Young Guy to push Enrique
1x Playmaker - A Starter
1x DM - Young Guy to push Butt and Take over from him
1x Striker - BIG guy to hold play up replacement for viduka -MAYBE gomis.
and some youth players
so basically MIN 5 Players.
As long as we dont lose anyone, we DEF have enough wingers
21 HATE PRAWN SANDWICHES // Jul 19, 2008 at 22:24
totally behind Hardian, Normski, and UTD111
The interview which Keegan gave, potraid a man who is only there as a face for NUFC’s fans !! He looked very unhappy and uncomfortable especially commenting about Transfers!! Time for action!! Ashley needs to spend money, we need a couple of experienced quality players that will help guide the youth! this in itself would help getting in other targets! esp… as KK admitted that he felt there were only two senior players in the match!! ASHLEY WAKE UP!! AND BACK KK!!!
22 HATE PRAWN SANDWICHES // Jul 19, 2008 at 22:28
We are defo.. in need of a top striker! not just to replace Viduka butother injuries! because what we had against pool wasn’t good enough!!
Plus we defo.. need to get rid of smith! whats the point in him or ameobi being there!!
23 Hadrian // Jul 19, 2008 at 22:42
our strinkers as it stands , oba , owen , viduka , shola (maybe u could count smith …yeah right )
oba is the only player i expet tobe fit for the majority of the season .
the kids ARE NOT READY , so dont even try and pass them off as having a chance of making their mark this season , we are not talking about child prodigys like owen or roony here who walked into teans as teenagers .
24 kickzz // Jul 19, 2008 at 23:55
nice win!

Aaron Spear?…disappeared?
26 Hatty // Jul 20, 2008 at 1:42
Spear is moving up to Newcastle next Sunday. I’d imagine that means the deal is pretty much done.
27 D Garew // Jul 20, 2008 at 3:55
Either believe this or think i’m a-hole making up a story but i have heard on very good authority that MODRIC and AIMAR had both agreeg terms and both had newcastle as their number 1 choice. The only reason that they did not sign is because our TRANSFER TEAM of jiminez ans wise tried to cut the agents out of the deal at the last minute. I’ve heard this from a good source close to the club and it makes me want to set the horrible little cockney dwarf on fire………
