Coloccini and Gutierrez In Action Tonight Against Scotland

November 19th, 2008 by Ed Harrison · 10 Comments

Newcastle’s interim manager Joe Kinnear will be hoping that his Argentine pair of Jonas Gutierrez and Fabricio Coloccini will return from their game against Scotland at Hampden Park tonight, fit and ready to go for our testing game with Chelsea at Stamford Bridge on Saturday.

Fabricio Coloccini - has played solidly for Newcastle United this season

Of course Jonas broke his collar-bone when he played for Argentina against Peru last summer, that kept him out of the Newcastle side far too long for comfort.

Newcastle coach Chris Hughton, may make the trip to Glasgow to watch the pair play for the Argentine side, which will be Diego Maradona’s first game as the new Argentine manager.

Chris Hughton talked to the Evening Chronicle today:

“It’s a wonderful game for Gutierrez and Coloccini. It’s a new manager, and anybody who’s been involved with the Argentine national team over the last couple of years will want to be in this squad.”

“Maradona will want to have a look at everybody, and it’s a nice thing for the club as well, as I think we’ve got two smashing players in Coloccini and Gutierrez, and certainly everybody here wants to see them do well.”

“It would be nice if they were to play a part, but from our point of view we have to look after ourselves.” “While it’ll be nice for them to be recognized, the more important game will be at Chelsea on Saturday.”

Chelsea’s game will be very tough, and we will need to have two of our best players available for that game.

We don’t really expect to get anything out of the game on Saturday, but a draw would be a terrific morale boost for the team, if we could get that result.

Then after the game we hope to hear something about what the future of the club will be.

Comments welcome.

Guess you’re right though, keeping the goals against down’d be a success and a draw, well there’ll be dancing in the streets of Newcastle.

newcastle aren’t consistent at all. sometimes they play great football and sometimes they play as they are the worst team in this competetion.we just cannot rely on newcastle on there form basis.so let’s see what we get from the chelsea game. hope just hope that atleast we play good football.
