Gateshead continue to lose points to the leader when they could only secure a point away to 3rd bottom Leek Town, when a win is what they really wanted.
With leaders Witton Albion winning again, Gateshead dropped another 2 points behind the leaders.
But they still have 2 games in hand and are now 8 points adrift of the leaders Whitton in the Unibond League Premier Division.
Gateshead got a point on Saturday but really needed all 3 points
Gateshead continue to lose points to lowly placed teams in the Unibond Premier League and they did it again on Saturday when they could only draw with lowly positioned Leek Town.
But they staged a good fight back after going 2 goals down after just 13 minutes, against early strugglers Leek Town to leave Staffordshire with a point on Saturday afternoon. The Tynesiders, who had won their last three games, made the worst possible start conceding after just three minutes of the game and then again after 13 minutes to go 2-0 down.
Leek Town held their lead until half time but to their great credit Gateshead played with solid purpose in the second half. They got their just reward with goals from David Southern and Graeme Armstrong and left with a point, but before the game they must have been eying all three points.
However, Gateshead remain 2nd top of the Unibond League Premier Division just 8 points behind Witton Albion but with 2 games in hand.
