The Newcastle Evening Chronicle today are reporting that things may go down to the line as far as the signings of Beye and Faye are concerned.
One thing Newcastle didn’t realize is that Abdoulaye Faye will need a work permit, but we don’t think that will stop the transfer going through - it’s just that Newcastle will have a little more paper-work to deal with today.
Waiting on all of this is Nobby Solano, who according to the Evening Chronicle will be allowed to move to West Ham, but only if the two Newcastle deals are completed today.

Nobby Solano - waiting to see if he can move to West Ham for personal reasons
As far as Beye is concerned he has already told people in France that the deal is almost done with Newcastle. The offer Sam made to him a while ago has been on the table for over a month. Habib has decided it’s just too good a deal for him to turn down financially, and he also adds that Newcastle are a huge club, which is also a big attraction.
We’d really like to see Nobby stay - and he of course has pledged himself to Newcastle, should the two deals not go through. But we have no worries on that front, since he’s been a wonderful servant of the club for nearly 10 years and it will be sad if he has to leave for personal reasons.
However, he’s still a great player and maybe West Ham have had second thought on Nobby since Kieron Dyer broke his leg against Bristol Rovers in mid-week. Nobby will be an excellent acquisition for West Ham - who can play right-back or right-midfield - they just don’t know that yet.
That’s the latest we have on the transfer front - www.nufc.co.uk  is where the signings and any departures will be published first.
Comments always welcome.

be gutted if nobby goes, apart from given, he seems the last player of a generation from the mid 90s……but now is a new era under big sam, but all the best for nobby

Just like I said a couple of days before on this blog. Beye and Faye in and Solano will go.
A bit a shame but I think it’s the better for Nobby himself and we have quality in. I’m going to watch the Net each second to follow and wait till something of the transfers is confirmed. A bit nervous, because the Beye transfer is one that I was looking for a month ago, but I’m not going to celebrate
the transfer untill it is done. I think you all know why
?

hopefully they are both unveil at 2pm with deco
4 toonfan1 // Aug 31, 2007 at 13:27
why at 2:00pm aaron d? is there a press conference?
5 Obafan // Aug 31, 2007 at 13:37
@ toonfan 1: On BBC transfer day you can follow everything, especially the rumours
, and there is quoted that Habib Beye, Abdoulaye Faye and Deco are due to meet their new team-mates at 1400 BST. That’s why aaron d says this!!

NUFC.com running a story which ties up with other rumours on BBC saying Mort at Teesside airport to meet private jet for unknown reason. Supposedly flew in from Barca … and hints of Deco deal … could be rubbish … but NUFC.com usually pretty sound and reliable … they usually in the know and not prone to rumour mongering
7 newcastle fan // Aug 31, 2007 at 13:44
deco coming to newcastle united??sum1 tell me yes or no?
8 Obafan // Aug 31, 2007 at 13:46
@Jag: It could be rubbish, but you’re right that nufc.com runs very good stories and that they are reliable. So wait and see, I’ve read this rumour a few times now about the Deco thing at the Teesside Airport.
I read a message by someone who mentionned thet the Beye and Faye deals were already in the bag, but that NUFC waited to confirm them because they were pulling off a big surprise. Perhaps this is the surprise he mentionned. What a fantastic day today, everybody nervous and watching the rumours and actions on the transfer market. I enjoyed it in January but now it is just more interesting…

I hope Nobby does not go to WHFC as they keep breaking all the players we send to them. He don’t deserve that!!
10 Hammy // Aug 31, 2007 at 13:57
Obafan..interesting comment, apparently Faye has been on Tyneside all week done his medical….so why hasn’t he signed???? maybe BSA has someting up his sleeve. The excitement.
Sibs has been on Sky Sports News slagging off FFS….nothing wrong with that,
I’d be gutted if he misses the game tomorrow as he was one of the few hits of last season. Hope he gets a great reception.
11 Hammy // Aug 31, 2007 at 13:58
As long as he doesn’t score…

Can’t really see how Beye and Faye signing for us means Nobby going to WH, neither play in the same position as him!? With regards to Joe Cole, I live in the same town as him and have seen him many times; he seems very settled I’m afraid, doesn’t seem like he wants to leave Chelski..hope I’m wrong! I actually joked with him once that he leave them for us and he just smirked….
13 Steve Wall // Aug 31, 2007 at 14:08
The official Barca site says that Decon trained with Barca today so not sure if he would have flown into Teeside as suggested.
14 Bw positive // Aug 31, 2007 at 14:15
Where the hell is the source for this Deco thing. I do agree there certainly looks to be a rabbit in the hat. NO DOUBT. There is a surprise and it has me checking every site for updates every second frantikly. What is also VERY important to know about shock signings is that they NEVER go through Newcastle airport for painfully obvious reasons. Beye and Faye are done deals, for christs sake the director of Marseille said it was practically done at the beginning of this week. fayes medical was days ago. So there is certainly going to be a surprise and for me, IT COMPLETELY makes sense now as to WHY Sam sold Dyer !
15 leo // Aug 31, 2007 at 14:45
why teeside airport? and not the newcastle city airport? not the main international airport but the one on the edge of the river tyne, next to newcastle business park…
16 Darren // Aug 31, 2007 at 14:47
The Deco rumours seem to have been started with a text message to the bbc transfer day countdown site, they are printing most things they get whether true or not. Since then the word has spread but it does just look like one of those last day wind ups.
Take a look at some of the other ones - ours isn’t the most outrageous…

17 Darren // Aug 31, 2007 at 14:49
Leo - you try landing a private jet at the Newcastle city HELIPORT as that is what it is.
18 Toon Chicken // Aug 31, 2007 at 14:53
nufc.com said he had been spotted at Durham Tees Airport this morning but they have since removed that and are now saying there are reports contradicting those sightings of Mort.
19 Bill F // Aug 31, 2007 at 14:56
Darren I had a look, there are so many medicals apparently taking place, thank goodness it aint the NHS, waiting lists would shoot up. I think it’s the fans who will need the medicals with all the stress and tension.
20 Bill F // Aug 31, 2007 at 15:00
I just saw the report that Beye was at the Mackems watching the reserves, hope he didn’t get confused and sign the wrong paperwork.
21 G. // Aug 31, 2007 at 15:07
Johnson has signed with Portsmouth,
so that must mean where having Beye & Faye in.
Deco or any other creative midfield superstar would be a great surprise to close of an already great summer for all NUFC fans

I cant see Deco signing for us today - But Riquelme is a definite possibility.
Everton are also apparently after Riquelme too, who does seem destined for a Prem move.
Baye, Feye - Not bad at all
Baye, Faye and Deco/Riquelme - WOW!
23 Edd Case // Aug 31, 2007 at 15:12
He He - Pistone has just signed for the Smoggies!
They are desperate.

26 Ed Harrison // Aug 31, 2007 at 15:43
Joe - it’s probably because Sam will have cover at RB since both Faye and Beye can play there.
27 toonfan1 // Aug 31, 2007 at 15:51
i think there may be a surpise 2day but i dont think it will be deco. cant really see him leaving barcalona for newcastle but i think big sam may have a surpise and thats why hes left beye and faye tobe unveiled later. i think it wont be a big surpise btu maybe big sam is waiting fir a third signing to come through so he can unveil all three at the same time.

31 Ed Harrison // Aug 31, 2007 at 15:55
toonfan1 - you “wish” that’s the reason for the delay - so there’s 3. But cannot find any credible evidence on Deco
32 toonfan1 // Aug 31, 2007 at 15:57
i think that someone is just having a joke with us. we’re not in europe so i dont think we could get deco and i think he will have better options in europe with different clubs
33 Ed Harrison // Aug 31, 2007 at 15:58
I’d be very happy if Beye and Faye sign - they’re both excellent players for a great price.

Ed - If you look at:
http://news.bbc.co.uk/sport1/hi/football/6971774.stm
then scroll down to just under 11:58 (time)
there is a rumour text in from Alex T
then just under 11:08
there is another one saying mort has been seen in the airport meeting someone from barcelona
35 Tony L // Aug 31, 2007 at 15:59
Ed Harrison take a look at the BBC under http://news.bbc.co.uk/sport1/hi/football/6971774.stm
A couple of comments were left art 11.08 and 11.58am referring to Deco.
There has been a lot a cr*p on their today. I think there are a lot of people bored because they expected more action. My work colleague is a hammer and he asked me if there was anyone we would sell to him, I replied Carr and Ramage are injured so Egghead could by them!!
36 toonfan1 // Aug 31, 2007 at 15:59
ed- i cant see why there would be any other reason for the delay. its been reported that faye has passed a medical and watched the toon against barnsley and beye has passed a medical and has said that he is ready to pen a 4 year contract so with all this done i would have thought that they would have been unveiled earlier. maybe complications???
37 Obafan // Aug 31, 2007 at 16:02
Midjew: These BBC transfer deadline is just all about rumours. Some things are true but most of it IMO is speculation or what fans want to happen, but what is not going to happen.
I can see BS have a 3rd signing today, because Beye and Faye will have signed already and he is just waiting for the surprise signing to confirm them all together. That’s my version why we have to wait the confirmations about the transfers.
38 Toon Chicken // Aug 31, 2007 at 16:09

Obafan - I agree, its is JUST rumours i really don’t believe them.
If anyone did they would have to accept that Adriano can move at the speed of light as he is being reported to be in every city in england today LOL!
43 Obafan // Aug 31, 2007 at 16:57
On BBC now a rumour about Del Piero going to the TOnn. Where do they find it to launch such ridiculous things?
I’m waiting for the confirmation though.
44 Obafan // Aug 31, 2007 at 16:58
continuing my last message;
- Toon not TOnn
- confirmation of Beye and Faye off course.
45 Bill F // Aug 31, 2007 at 17:03
Midjew, he probably has a very important Xmas moonlighting job it would explain his superspeed.
46 Darren // Aug 31, 2007 at 17:23
Be happy with Faye & Beye if we get them, we won’t be signing anyone else today.
47 Toon Chicken // Aug 31, 2007 at 17:29
nufc.com saying Deco took part in Barca training today.
Del Piero has reportedly just being spotted touching down at Newcastle Airport on the back of his flying pig.
48 Midjew // Aug 31, 2007 at 17:35
Toon Chicken -
where on nufc.com does it say that??
Do u mean official Newcastle site?
49 Obafan // Aug 31, 2007 at 17:45
If Mort went to the airport to meet someone from Barca, perhaps that someone was Gudjohnson.
I still think something is happening at St James Park, because Beye and Faye are yet to be confirmed and I think they will be confirmed with a 3rd signing.
For me I would be happy to have Faye and Beye in our ranks, then we look a very solid team.
50 Rich // Aug 31, 2007 at 17:50
Sky sports have just reporte don TV that Nobby has flown into London to have a medical with West Ham….. but get this, FOR FREE.
why are we selling him for nothing?? that makes no sense to me.
‘oh here you go West Ham, our last product just broke down but dont worry we will sort you out with a better player on the house.’
51 Bosck // Aug 31, 2007 at 17:56
MIDJEW - its at the top of the page on nufc.com
nothing on the official site about it tho.
52 Toon Chicken // Aug 31, 2007 at 18:14
Obafan - unfortunately I don’t think Mort was at the airport at all. The Chronicle is running a story saying Sam is sweating on double signing.
Personally I expect both Faye and Beye to be paraded before the game tomorrow, and the third signing will probs just be news of that American arriving in Jan.
53 jenson button // Aug 31, 2007 at 18:14

Szetela is reported to have signed with Racing Santadar this morning. Word over here is that Roma came in with a big last minute offer but he took less money in the hopes of seeing more playing time.

OFFICIAL!!!!!
NEWCASTLE United have completed the deadline day signing of Bolton defender Abdoulaye Faye.
The 29-year-old Senegal star has penned a three-year deal at St.James’ Park.
Faye signed for the Trotters in 2005 and went on to make 60 Premiership appearances, scoring three times for the Lancashire club.
And also…
MARSEILLE defender Habib Beye has completed his switch to Newcastle United.
The 29-year-old Senegal star has signed a three-year deal with the Magpies.
Beye, who can operate as a right-back or centre-back, was skipper of the French club having joined from Strasbourg in 2003.
He featured in both legs of Marseille’s UEFA Cup semi-final victory over United in 2004 but was on the losing side in the final against Valencia.
All on the official website (nufc.co.uk) brilliant news eh?
