Here are the major news stories associated with the Newcastle club for today – in no particular order of priority.
- We have an article on Gokdeniz Karadeniz who we are linked with in the transfer market. He is a Turkish winger and available for around £1M. But we note that Bolton have pulled out of the race – but that both Middlesbrough and West Ham are in for him. It also looks like Middlesbrough are ahead of us in the queue for him. At £1M he has to be good value for money.
Gokdeniz Karadeniz
- We have a longish article on the Lord Steven’s Quest inquiry that was released yesterday. We look at the 4 transfers at Newcastle – and the 4 transfers at Bolton that still have not been cleared by the inquiry. However it looks like the agents in the deals are the ones being scrutinized on this – and still no wrongdoing has been found by the clubs, officials or players involved. A big to-do about nothing we think.
Lord Stevens
- We have a piece today on Sam talking about what attributes he looks for in a captain. Of course that’s what he needs to do in the next few weeks – since Parker has now left for West Ham. Take a read – since there’s only Barton and Viduka in at the moment not sure either of them will be suitable as Newcastle’s captain – although both have been captains before – Viduka for Australia and Barton for Manchester City.
Sam Allardyce
- Sam has given an excellent interview to the Journal and talks about what it will take for Newcastle to break into the top four. As usual the interview is interesting and frames Sam’s philosophies in football – build slowly and steadily. Take a look at our article analyzing what Sam said.
Owner Mike Ashley
- Not particularly anything associated with Newcastle – but there is a hilarious story on stupid football quotes in the Sun. Here is another classic from Ian Rush:
“I couldn’t settle in Italy — it was like living in a foreign country.”
Ian Rush reveals the reason behind his failed spell at Juventus.
Take a look at the article and have a laugh 😀
We’d appreciate your comments on these stories.

Comment #1I’ve been hoping to read about our capture of David Rozehnal, but as yet have heard nothing. Does anybody know the current state of play? I’m also disappointed about Ben-Haim opting for the extra money offered at Chelski – let’s see how he feels in January after making only a handful of appearances. Are we being linked with any more quality defenders? And does Ashley’s aquisition of 77% mean that Big Sam can finally start to splash the cash? Sorry it’s all questions at the moment- seems to be a quiet news week on the player front.

Comment #4jacob – the situation as we understand it with Rosehnal – is that PSG value him at 3.5M. Borussia Dortmund and Newcastle are in for him. Newcastle have bid a bit over 2M. Not sure what Borussia bid – but one report said his preference is Dortmund – another report says he would love to play in the Premiership – so not sure what really is happening – hopefully next week we’ll hear some new news on this. But Sam watched him play for the Czechs against Wales – so we think he rates him.

Comment #5nightfall – i hope Sam does find some unknown – but excellent center backs – he certainly has a knack for finding these players.

Comment #6It’s quite normal that Ben-Haim sings the praises of Chelsea as he just goes to his new club. I think we should not emphasize on the club ranking conducted by some organisations. Instead, I hope we can hit others back by our real potential. I hope we can challenge them not only by showing some ranking data but also by the scores in the match.
