Here are the major news stories associated with the Newcastle club for today – in no particular order of priority.
- We have a story today commenting on the reported interest Newcastle have in Fredi Kanoute. We are more concerned however, on what this means for Michael Owen’s future at Newcastle – otherwise why would we be looking at strikers – when we already have four?
Michael Owen
- Another supposed transfer we cover today – that of Shawn Wright-Phillips. We are linked with Shawn who is up for sale for 10M from Chlesea. Our opinion is that we can get better players for that amount – and not sure why we’d be interested in Shawn.
Wright-Phillips
- An Ashley insider has provided some good information on what Mike thinks of Sam Allardcye (all good). The insider says there will be a senior appointment announced shortly at the club. The appointment will be somebody who can look overall at how the club is run – so presumably after the review – improvements can start to be made. We have some comments on these statements in our own article. It all sounds very good and very business like.
Owner Mike Ashley
- We liked the Sun’s article on stupid football quotes so much that we have our own one – covering quotes from Bobby Robson and Kevin Keegan. Take a look and have a laugh. Here is another classic quote from big-head himself – Brian Clough:
“They say Rome wasn’t built in a day, but I wasn’t on that particular job”
We’d appreciate your comments on these stories.

Comment #4Kid, me? I know more about football than you ever will ed and valled, I assure You, Sam Allardyce will not be given sufficent funds to mount a serious challange on the premiership, he will be given ten milllion pounds. With this he will sign Luke Young for 2 Mil, David Rozenhal for 3 mil, Nicky Shorey for 5. He then will sell some people, most likely Carr or Babayaro for 1 mil, with this he Will swoop for Gokeniz. Michael Owen will not leave, nor will Fredi Kanoute sign for this club!Sam knows Fredis record in the premiership is no where near as good as Michael Owens. Belive me I work at the club. Im not a secuirty guard or anything, but I see Sam every day.

Comment #8yes…the comment is good/realistic, but still…i think we should still get one more central defender…plus i think none of these players (or players allready at the club) could be captain. i think we still need sbd. like curtis davies…

Comment #11i think we should buy baines (or shorey), curtis davies, rozehnal, bakari (or micah) and also s.appiah – a Ghanaian International football midfielder and the captain of the Ghana national team, he’s a combative player, has a strong ‘engine’ and good tactical awareness. he is an all-round box-to-box midfielder who is able to defend as well as create and score goals. he’s “only” 27, and i think he’s the perfect replacement for n. butt, who’s not getting any younger…
any comment?
