The very likable Oba Martins has been talking to the Newcastle Evening Chronicle today, about his good friend Emre.
Martins thinks the Turkish international Emre can bring some magic to Newcastle’s midfield.
Emre demonstrated that very well in his 16 minute match winning cameo performance last Sunday, when he turned the game in Newcastle’s favor, with a magnificent left-footed shot from outside the penalty, which gave goalkeeper Tim Howard no chance.
Oba Martins – backs Emre to return some magic to Newcastle’s midfield
Oba told the Evening Chronicle today:
“Emre is a good friend of mine – and he is back.”
“I have spoken to him and he is happy.†“He can bring some magic to Newcastle from the midfield.â€
Sam Allardyce will have several selection headaches, when he has to decide his starting first eleven for the Tottenham home game on 22nd October. Joey Barton is raring to go and assuming our 14 players out on international duty come back uninjured it will be interesting to see what team Big Sam will select. One thing is certain and that it the bench will include some great players.
Consider the bench for our last game against Everton. It was Steve Harper, Steven Taylor, David Rozehnal, Emre and Michael Owen. Wonder how much that little lot would cost – but more than that is the fact that Sam has quickly built a much stronger and better squad than last year . We think it’s already starting to pay off.
Big Sam will need to make some decisions soon as to where big players like Nicky Butt, David Rozehnal, Steven Taylor and even captain Geremi fit in. Hey, we’re not complaining – this is what happens when you have a great squad like Sam is building. Butt has played really well for Big Sam and been a huge plus for the team and skipper Geremi has fitted in well and always gets the job done when he plays. Geremi is a players’ player and usually these types tend to be under-rated by fans.
Martins continued:
“At Newcastle we have a good squad here now.†“There are a lot of good players at the club and we have a lot of competition for places.â€
“We don’t want to look too far ahead to Europe,â€
“It is all about the players, and each one of us must concentrate on performing week-in, week-out. If we can try our best the European place will take care of itself.â€
We certainly agree with Martins’ last sentence. We need to play each league game almost as if it’s a cup tie and if the team continues to show the courage, determination and mental strength they exhibited against a tough Everton side we are going to win more games than we lose. We are sure we are in for a successful season – we just know right now how successful.
