Abdoulaye Faye and James Milner have both been talking about the Arsenal game tonight and both think Newcastle have an excellent chance of winning.
We think so too but it will take a massive effort from the team to pull through tonight.
Let’s take a look at what they’ve been saying.
James Milner – thinks Newcastle can get through tonight
Abdoulaye Faye, who will make his first start tonight for the club told the Shield’s Gazette this morning:
“We don’t have any fear going to Arsenal,” “I have good memories of playing against them because I scored against them a couple of times. I’ve been man of the match a couple of times, too, and they gave me champagne, which I like.â€
“I hope that it continues at the Emirates Stadium.”
“We can win the cup this season and that’s what everybody in the team has to believe.†“We have a really good team, and I hope we can do well in all of the competitions we are in this season.
“It’s a very important game for us and it’ll be good if we can win this game, because it’ll help our season a lot.†“Arsenal play good football and the team must be in good form to get past them, but we’re going to give it everything we have to get through.”
It’s nice to have new players like Faye at the club who are thinking of winning things, that’s probably the first requisite to actually doing it – first being convinced in your own mind that you can win – having that winning attitude.
James Milner also seemed confident as he talked to the Evening Chronicle and also thinks the team can pull through tonight in London.
James told the Evening Chronicle:
“If you want to win something you have to be capable of beating anybody in the competition.” “It doesn’t matter who you get – you have to win and get through.” “With the ability that we have got here at Newcastle in the squad, we can go there confidentâ€
“Last year we probably should have won at the Emirates.” “There is a difference between us this year from last year.” “If we get in that position this time, hopefully we can get the result we need.” “We have to take things one game at a time, stay clear of injuries and try to pick up results every week.â€
It’s certainly a big test for the boys tonight and we may need a little of lady luck’s help – but we can do it. But the proof of the pudding is always in the eating – and some great performances are required from some of our lads tonight. We wonder who the heroes are going to be   😀

Comment #3Do you really think both quotes suggest ‘Milner and Faye Confident of Newcastle Win Tonight’?
Unless I’m mistaken, both quotes use the words ‘hope’ and ‘should’ a fair bit.
Being ‘confident of a win’ and saying we are a side capable of it are very different things IMO.
Please don’t think I don’t approve of your positive tone here, you are right, a winning mentality is precisely what we need… I just think clunky headlines like this make us look foolish if we get spanked 3-0.

Comment #4This will be the toughest test for our defence so far. Like most fans here I’m most interested to see N’Zogbia push up into left-midfield, where he is simply devastating.
Will also be nice to see Martins up front again. Perhaps Smith can move alongside him, so we can try out some extra options, as Shola’s performance against Derby didn’t inspire confidence.
Nice that Allardyce has plenty of bodies to come in. Cacapa can now be replaced by either Faye or Taylor, both established defenders themselves.
