We have to admit that we’ve never liked our away strip that looks like the Aston Villa strip.
So - in the spirit of light-heartedness - this is not the new away strip but it’s an away strip we think would look great.
Since our colors are black and white - and light blue - why wouldn’t we have an away strip that was like the Argentina colors - blue and white stripes - and have it
be the same design as our black/white shirts?
Thanks to one of our readers - Andy Gray - for providing the logos on the new shirts.

Shirt We Don’t Like and Proposed New One
Here’s the strip we are talking about - of course it would need the NUFC crest, Adidas and Northern Rock in the center - and be just like our black/white shirt (also shown) - but in blue/white stripes. The one we show below has about the same number of stripes as our new shirt (it would be exactly the same but in light blue).

Actual New Home Shirt and Proposed New Away Shirt
Here are the new shorts and socks - so you can imagine what the whole strip would look like.

New Home Shorts and Socks
We think this would be a great contrasting away strip for us - we could wear contrasting black/white shorts and black/white socks - depending on the colors of the other team.
Let us know what you think?

I seem to remember Boro’s away strip looking like the argie strip from a few seasons ago.

Andy - I put it up - it was small - but shows very well what the shirt would look like with the logos on it - thanks !

Outlaw - the first one you posted looks good !
The second one doesn’t - where did the yellow come from - anyhow we still like the blue/white stripes - maybe next time !
20 Adrian // May 27, 2007 at 5:44
The First outlaw one is a direct copy of the Japan National kit.
21 Rob Kirton // May 27, 2007 at 8:22
The proposed new away strip is guaranteed to keep Michael Owen at the club. At number 10 he can run around, pretending to be Diego Maradona.
22 Tony Smith // May 27, 2007 at 8:57
Love the strip, but isn’t it a little close to the home kit… dark and white stripes. Us with black and white TV’s would struggle when the opposition is playing in stripes. On practicle grounds I’d go for the Argie away strip.
23 reggie22 // May 27, 2007 at 11:34
i must admit i do hate that away kit.The new idea is a very good one andy i do prefer the one with northern in white but also what about the kit we wore in europe last season i thought that was a really nice kit and should have been the away kit !
24 Ed Harrison // May 27, 2007 at 11:58
reggie22 - yes that strip looked very nice that we wore for Europe - maybe Ashley will revamp the away strips when he gets here - looks like money is no problem to him.
25 Phil // May 27, 2007 at 12:16
I think although it looks great it is not different enough for an away kit as when we come up against teams like sunderland both strips would be to similar to theres.
26 Mac // May 27, 2007 at 12:50
I doubt the strip mentioned by Outlaw is correct, simply because it is identical to Ajax’s away shirt for this season. The design might be correct, but not the colours.

Phil - that could be true - but against Sunderland we usually play in b/w stripes with white shorts and socks - and they play with in their r/w stripes with black shorts and socks. The blue in the strip has to be quite pale - so on TV it comes across as almost white.

I like that new strip posted here but i loved the blue n’ black strip we wore in europe this season. I would prefer to have that one as our away kit as stripes on both home and away fixtures could be confusing when we play… SUNDERLAND FOR EXAMPLE!! I still can’t believe all the good news surrounding Newcastle, at last we are going to have our luck turned around

As i mentioned on Newcastle Online 2 weeks back the new away shirt is meant to be an argentina copy. I think this is where you have had the idea for this thread tbh
31 Ed Harrison // May 27, 2007 at 22:01
Jon - not so - this is a proposed away shirt - that’s all
32 Hacky // May 28, 2007 at 0:58
Disgraceful idea no self respecting Englishman should wear those colours. We were at war with the Argies 25 years ago and they still hate us to this day over there. They would rather die than wear something English.
33 Ian // May 29, 2007 at 11:45
Have you no conscience or shame! I would rather throw up than buy an Argentina replica shirt. I don’t care if we were at war with them or not but the fact is is that they still HATE us and you think wareing a strip that everyone in footballs first impression would be “thats an Argentina home strip” is good??????? This is clearly wrong. The next thing you will come up with is a red n white striped shirt. Come on, get with it lads!
34 mui // May 30, 2007 at 19:16
nonNONONONONONONONONON!!!!!!!!!!!!!, the black and whitet on the home kit are not just colours as a newcastle fan i would expect u to know that they serve as symbols too, we cat just change them to blue , we can use that new one as an away kit but it should never replace oor home kit which is black and white
35 mui // May 30, 2007 at 19:18
plus it looks exactly like that of the egentines which is not good
36 ende // Jun 9, 2007 at 16:40
Here’s the black&blue everyone is talking about:

mui - it was never meant to replace our black and white stripes - just an away strip.
